Heard him play this piece almost 10 years ago in Tianjin, China, and got impressed. If I am right it was on Feb 26 2010, he played it as an encore in a different interpretation from this, different virtuoso ... superb. He said he played this piece like every day.
This piece still hypnotises me. I feel it tells the story of the Fisherman. The calmness of the evening, builds up to the catch and the flapping around of the fish trying to escape. Beautiful piece.
A guitar player since I was 4, I just spent 3 weeks in China and was amazed by this beautiful sound. I've purchased one and hope to learn to make such beautiful music. Perhaps my guitar skills will help somewhat. I hope!!
Guitar is different from this instrument, but music always things in common. Maybe someday you can upload your performance in UA-cam! I am looking forward to it.

Wow, I've been looking all over for this song! I first heard it on a vcd were someone was showing a Bagua Jian form, and I've been trying to find out what it was ever since. I'm glad I finally found it; it's really a beautiful song, and Wang Zhongshan plays it so wonderfully.
I went through same experience as you did; but I first heard it from watching and learning the very best TaiJi form performed by a China taiji champion. I have that video tape. This gentleman plys it best. 5 stars. My favorite.
