hahaha! thanks for the tips and the laughter! I wish prosperity and wealth to your business and yourself. For oil stains on the pants, tell your wife to use a cap full of "Lestoil" (floor cleaner) in the laundry machine along with laundry soap. old trick from the army. :) thanks again.
Great information. And unlike some, I loved the sound effects. It’s part of yalls charm - great content, but not taking yourself too seriously. It’s why I’ve been a loyal customer for 5 years.
Great info, I have a lot of problems with a brand new swivel knife. It skips, and it is quite painful to carve. There are the grind marks, and apparently it is not sharp enough. I love your style and the noises are very funny. Thanks!!
Excellent. As someone totally new to leatherworking, I was wondering if the knife should be sharper. I love the add-on sound effects, you must have a great sense of humour, which is sadly lacking in so many boring UA-cam "how to" vids
I was expecting a serious and monotone video on sharpening, instead I got an informative video on sharpening with some humour thrown in, loved it, cheered me up today 👍😄
The collar is a must. I replaced the slotted screw with an allen set screw that matched my Tandy Pro knife, thus only needing the same allen wrench for both. A straight blade is a little easier to set up than the angled blade is. I also found the thumb screw was always coming loose so I attached a small circle of leather to the end with super glue and so far it stays tight while using the jig. I'm guessing it should have been a fine thread than what it is. Or made with a nylon tip so it stays locked down once tightened.
Who ever done the editing, ( i bet it's an unhappy worker, getting back at him) the sound effects are so funny, cannot stop laughing, Kevin is so serious showing us what to do in sharpening, but cannot stop laughing. Good work who ever you are ! if you are still there !
Yes, the swivel knife can be sharpened this way, but you will still have to strop the knife. The whetstone is an oil stone. Thanks for watching! Hope this helps :)
this was very informative but incredibly hard to take serious with all of those obnoxious sound effects. I thank you for the video and will remember to just watch them with the mute on from now on.
Kevin, a video request. I have a quarter moon knife. Not sure what is in English. In English you call them a face knife, in German a half-moon knife. It's basically a 1/4 circle and sharpening it is not an easy feat for me. An instructional video for such a knife would be helpful. Thanks!
I have enjoyed all of your videos but please loose the sound effects, you don't need any squeaky or pan's dropping, your videos are good without all that
I use diamond compound instead of polishing compound because its faster and I use diamond hones for the same reason. Diamond is so much faster and I can get compound to 100,000 grit. I find that above 10,000 grit puts a mirror finish on the knife steel so fine you can't see any lines. They use it to polish telescope lenses and when I put a mirror polish on a knife 10,000 is as far as I need to go.
Hi, Roberto! We offer a stone sharpener set that includes a coarse and fine grit stone (item # 44-058). You can find them here: springfieldleather.com/Sharpener-Stone-Set . You can also give us a call at 1-800-668-8518. Thanks for your question! :)
Really that isn't a great table for leather working. It worked okay as a stropping surface but it isn't a stable table. You could most likely locate one at Home Depot, maybe even Walmart.
If you look closely, there is a small, tiny, little set screw near the bottom of the shaft. That's what holds the blade in. Insert your blade, snug up that set screw, and you won't have to fight with the thing trying to hold it in with your finger - or throw it at that first thing that pisses you off - or in this case the second.
Hi, Mihaela! You may be asking about "jewelers rouge", which you can find here: springfieldleather.com/Jewelers-Rouge-White-1-8-lb . Thanks for watching! Let us know if you have any more questions. :)
FFS! Did a someone's 12 year old edit this with all the distracting sound effects? I'm going to see if Weaver has a professionally presented video on the topic.
Good info, sound effects are kind of distracting though.
Well done! The sound effects are great, too.
Probably one of the better explained videos on sharpening. Well done!
Thumbs up, for including the sound effects after the screwdriver issue.
Awesome!!! This was one of the first questions I had for my local leather shop when I started tooling.

Great video, I'm new to leather working, and this tutorial was exactly what I was looking for!

So happy you enjoyed the video and found it helpful! Thanks for watching and for your business :)

I love the sound effects... I still learned everything he was teaching and got a good laugh in... in the process

Thanks for watching! Glad you found our video helpful :) Happy leather crafting!
What if you don't have Jeweler's Rouge? What else can be used? I ask because I have no clue where to get the stuff.

Sound Effects were not necessary... But the instruction was great!
Yeah forget the sound affect its annoying enough to get you a thumbs down..

I have to say the cartoony sound effects were...quite annoying.
turd
Can the swivel knife be sharpened on a synthetic stone without oil, like a Lansky? What kind of whetstone are you using? Great video, thanks!
Nice. Thanks for taking your time and giving it away. I learn from each video you've given us.
the sound affects are awesome haha
Does it have to be the white Jeweler's rouge? I have the red so I am wondering if I bought the wrong one.
Those sound effects are absolute trash. Completely ruined the video.
Lighten up, they were meant to be humerous and they were!!! :)
lose the sound effects its annoying!
Excellent explanation. The effects were annoying.
I love the sound effects......
Good video but because of the sound effects best to watch it muted with captions on.

hahahaha awesome video, I bet it's a good time around your shop. wish my workplace was that fun. Educational also. thanks again
This video really helped in showing me how to sharpen my swivel knife, however I'm not 4 years old and can do without the annoying sound effects.
Check out our newer video.

The sound track🤣
Wow I couldn't even finish watching cause the stupid and childish sound effects.
I have enjoyed all of your videos but please loose the sound effects, you don't need any squeaky or pan's dropping, your videos are good without all that
Good info. terrible sound effects.

Same here.. Works much better

informative and funny

Would have been a good informative video except for the childish back ground sound track.

Il piacere è tutto mio! Grazie, e buona giornata :)
Buongiorno, lei è un hobbysta o un professionista?
can i use the 3 in-one oil? if not ill get the sewing machine oil
Hi. You can use 3in one but it’s messier and will stain. Sewing machine oil is better
Kevin
What the hell?! I mean really? The sound is ridiculous.
yesss
"Polished", with a popping P sound or else you're not doing it right.
The sound effects are distracting. It’s good to be creative but this many effects are suitable for a comedy, say... The Three Stooges.
Did you say crappy piece of leather?
what grit whetstone?
ps: the sound effects are stupid and annoying...
ROFL... Very useful little tutorial!!
(P. S. The cartoon like sounds are beautiful!!)
golusruse?? someone pls

get rid of the slotted set screw, use an Allen head set screw, you will never be sorry you did
FFS! Did a someone's 12 year old edit this with all the distracting sound effects? I'm going to see if Weaver has a professionally presented video on the topic.
You could also check out our newer video that’s not 8 years old on sharpening all sorts of tools.
