That first gasp for air after he hangs up the phone. And you see his world totally go upside down. The realization of it all. Gosh my heart broke! Like damn!
Like absolute damn. Mine too. I watched the series two days ago, and is in a state after the end. Devastated. In the days of films and tv more and more copying computer games in style, it’s so rare to find a gem like this mini.
The pain in the chest is the most real thing, it's physical. This story broke my heart, the acting was exceptional and the plot incredible... This show will stay in my heart forever❤
For me the most impressive acting moment in this scene is when he first starts to say “it has been an unbelievably sh*tty day”, his voice breaks, and his face starts to scrunch up like he’s going to fully break into tears, but he manages to rein it back in. So real and really looks like he’s feeling the pain. He was amazing in this scene!
I'm in two minds. One half is like bro, you should've just realized and accepted it sooner, the evidence was so obvious that you loved her. Instead you chose life in the fast lane. You chose the lights and the fame. You chose the edgy and gritty late night shows and the lifestyle that accompanies it. You chose the women, the bottle, and the drugs, and ignored the person you're only just now realizing who's company you crave most in the world, who's presence would soothe this storm you've found yourself in. The other half is like mate, I know exactly what you're going through. Your mother is dying, you're spiraling, the alcohol abuse and drug addiction no doubt caused by the stress and anguish of losing one of the most important women in your life and the one person that can cheer you up, or at the very least listen to you and hear you, is living their own life, doing their own thing. It's a tough one buddy.
Leo is one of the best actors around at the moment. This scene the Paris cafe, the Paris apartment. He doesn't even have to speak and you can feel the emotion.
I want BIG roles for him. He is totally charming, you just can't take your eyes off of him. And the most important thing, he is an incredible and natural actor. He has everything to get a good role, to do a big movie. I just can't wait to see him in another project!!!!!
Such a heartbreaking scene but so informative. Dex's tender heart, emotional fragility, vulnerability and insecurities on full display 😢 Self-doubt(thinking that he is only looks and no substance), fear of disappointing the people he loves, fear of failure, fear of getting hurt. Explains his life choices up to this point -why he avoids serious relationships, takes the easy route, engages in unfulfilling career opportunities that come to him without much effort. Explains why Emma could not detach herself from him despite everything that happened. She sees his goodness, his fragility. Amazing work! Hope to see Leo and Ambika in a love story in which no one dies :)
My fav young star of these years. He has this natural subtlety, fragility, and purity in his performances, especially in his emotional scenes. He is just soooooo good at this
This show really did highlight how we as men sometimes take a while to grow up! He was so lost as a young man and it takes many of us years to get it right but it does happen
This show was a 10...watched it in one night. My gosh ....the acting was so moving....i never cry for tv shows but this show evoked so much emotion. Really well done 👏 👏👏👏
Read the book and seen the 2011 film like 15 times each. What this version does... Well, Dexter. He is THE MAIN character. I only realised it now, because Leo did his job like a Master. It's literally impossible to take your eyes off of him. He's living every single moment. The greatest achievement of the adaptation. Just astonishing.
@nataliadyuk1464 yes, there are some differences that are made in the series (for the better). And the author grants you the ability to read their thoughts which adds many layers, of course.
Such a well written, beautifully flawed character. He makes so many mistakes and you get upset at him but you understand why. And when he finally gets his act together and things seemingly go his way, tragedy strikes once again. It’s so sad.
Totally and utterly loved this series, tugged at every emotional cord in the body and the heart ache and heart break in the last moments of episode 13 and all of the last episode was so true to real life. I can not say enough good things about the performances or the show and despite knowing what’s going to come, I will watch it again one day for the power of it. 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
that scene is the proof that Leo is a great actor. He was perfect here. Sooo realistic , he seems desperatly in pain. Great job Leo, you made this scene a mastepiece. Good to have such a great actor these days.
Leo’s performances are so raw and seem to come so organic. No need for additional music or film tricks to immerse you into the story and get you emotional 😭
Loved this scene. So raw and emotional and you could see in that moment his real feelings for Emma. Sane in the Paris apartment scene when he finds out that Emma is with someone.
Okay, his facial and body acting are awesome, but let's also talk about his voice acting. I meam, I could listen to this video without seeing his face and I would still feel what he goes through. For me, the most impressive part or this is the way his voice shakes and goes thin.
From all the shows I’ve seen there hasn’t been a character I felt so bad for except dexter for an entire show. From his first scene to his last scene I felt bad for him. Idk why but he just looked sad. He looked sad/not happy with life. The only time I could see him truly be happy was scenes with his mom or Emma. It’s as if he couldn’t breath without them.
I couldn't agree more. I felt like he was the one who was ALWAYS soo clear about his love for her and was suffering being stuck as the "friend" the entire series I just wanted to give him a hug and tell him she loved him too and to just go for it.
I know this feeling very well 😞 when u want to run away from ur problems by calling someone u really love and trust! It’s just very painful cuz not all of us have that person like emma💔
Such a emotional day for dexter in the scenes.his acting is not looking like act it seems like real role play of his life.such heart broken moment❤❤❤ hats up ⬆️ I love the series.
There is so much about this series that has got to me in way no other has, but this scene just sticks. I tear up for his character but it hurts down deeper as I, as I am sure others have been here before. Trying to fix things after a major f-up, just trying after it's over, just needing to hear that person's voice and knowing it is not going to happen. Years flood back.
this is the first scene that made me cry. i have had problems with alcohol and addiction, and i could really relate to this moment and the context of the scene (ie the visit to his parents home)
He is truly a good actor! no fuss or fluff. he is just really good at his craft
Yep, his choices are very tasteful. It would be very easy to ham it up a bit too much with this role.
This scene! So sad. Leo is a good actor.❤❤
The scene where he's at the bar in Paris, talking about his kid, was heartbreaking...
Very good in all these emotional scenes :)
Es muy requetebueno. Tiene muchos registros
That first gasp for air after he hangs up the phone. And you see his world totally go upside down. The realization of it all. Gosh my heart broke! Like damn!
Yes.

How is acting like this possible? This is like a real situation.
His acting is amazing. It breaks my heart.

Agreed I cried with him this scene
Leo is such a great actor, totally nailed that scene. You heartbreaker 😢

You heartbreaker, you... Wow. He tried so hard not to crumble on the phone, but he did. His heart broke. That's some good acting.

Have you seen him in White Lotus?

Yes. I Hope to see Leo and Ambica again.
Very well written 👍
You explain it so well, it's very hard to make him lovable enough so the audience doesn't feel like Emma is a complete idiot for pining for him
What was the background of this scene? I could find it in which episode?
To all you Performing Arts majors out there, this is a masterclass in acting.
My fav young star of these years. He has this natural subtlety, fragility, and purity in his performances, especially in his emotional scenes. He is just soooooo good at this
The emotion in this scene is remarkable. What a wonderful actor.

Lawd this was so rough! I felt for Dexter so bad but at the same time Emma had a life to live and wouldn’t always be there to pick him up.

amazing scene... what about the book? worth reading, does it render the same vibes as the film?

Haven’t seen acting like this in a long time - incredible.
Just watched all 14 episodes, bawling 😢
Give this man his goddamn Emmy

This scene and one of many got me. This actor is amazing
this scene is what solidified this series for me as a work of art, truly so impressive

This scene really broke my heart. He was hurting so much he needed his best friend.
I cry when he cries, what a talented actor

you're the heartbreaker in this scene, Leo
his acting in this scene was phenomenal - i literally felt like i was there.
Perfectly performed by Leo as Dexter an amasing actor
I loved this scene he is a fabulous actor. This scene was so sad he was desperate to speak to Emma..& the way he performs..bloody good actor.
Future nominee of Oscars! Hope you find the role of your life! Look forward to your future performances!
I know this feeling very well 😞 when u want to run away from ur problems by calling someone u really love and trust! It’s just very painful cuz not all of us have that person like emma💔
this scene and when he's talking to Em in paris about his stepdaughter crying for mom KILLED MEEEE
The best thing ive ever watched was this show! Great company I was hooked!!!
This scene right here sent me. I was destroyed and in awe of his acting.
Such a emotional day for dexter in the scenes.his acting is not looking like act it seems like real role play of his life.such heart broken moment❤❤❤ hats up ⬆️ I love the series.

Ever I've watched TV and I watch quite a lot of it, this is hands-down one of the best scenes I've seen in a long time. Bravo, Leo Woodall!👏👏👏
Such a good actor . He really stood out in this movie
The perfect portrayal of someone who has lived a "charmed life" and just realized it...omg Leo, so good! 👏👏❤️
this is the first scene that made me cry. i have had problems with alcohol and addiction, and i could really relate to this moment and the context of the scene (ie the visit to his parents home)
I WILL NEVER GET OVER THEM.
I was an emotional wreck on this scene. I was angry with Dexy but I was with him in the pain, when Em didn't pick up I was in shambles! So good!
The day I realised I'd lost my first love, I couldn't sleep all night. After he hangs up, the feeling is so real that I can almost touch it.
This scene completely destroyed me, so well acted, I felt it in every fibre of my being 😢❤💔
This guy can cryyyy
Leo’s acting is very natural . Best actor
Watching the series a second time… and not over the first time yet.. Dexter .. you heart breaker you…😢
Definitely Oscar worthy acting. I cannot hear and see enough of him. Right down to the way he takes small sips of drink. A beautifully elegant actor.
Absolutely amazing, can’t wait to see more from him! This scene destroyed me. I feel his pain through my entire body.
this scene crushes my heart
Get him an emmy !!!!!!!!!!!
"you heartbreaker, you" 😭😭😭
Give them their emmys!!!!

Yes omg exactly
Exactly. Instanly remember led thay scene as i watched it
Leo is such a good actor man
This was so good to watch. Reminds me a lot of Paul Mescal scene in Normal People. Terrific performance.
Thanks, I’m crying again. 4 months later. This scene is just too much. 😭 2:59
LEOS RENT WAS DUE
Great acting by Leo
I love Dex is a great actor . He makes me cry .

A very touching scene😢😢😢😢
This episode broke me.
Astounding actor !
These two always really only loved each other in this beautiful story. 😢❤ 💔
my heart broke at this scene:((
This scene just made me go back and see the rest of the show. I stopped bc I got frustrated that they never get together!
Growing up is realizing my biggest breakup was straight from this movie 😂
Haven’t seen such a good performance for a long time, cannot get over it now..
A interpretação do Leo nas cenas fortes é surreal. Ele é muito, mais muito bom rm sua interpretação. Essa cena é destruidora de corações.
Someone it my hands off so I can stop watching these clips, I’ve been crying nonstop and this feels like a breakup.
Absolutely fantastic acting.
stellar performance 🎭 from all episodes of this series but episode 12-13 were heavy. Episode 14 was heartbreaking 💔 and Leo did Dexter justice. 👏
It’s so well acted ❤
Leo was incredible in this scene. ❤❤❤❤😢😢😢😢😢😢
Damn. He is good.
I watched yesterday at pm..
Now today I am watching again.. gain my agains such a heartbroken moment.i had lost my message, great actor isn't it ?

His acting is Oscar worthy.
This reminds me of that scene with Paul Mescal in Normal People🥺🥺. I think in episode 2 or 3
