Windows and Apple skipped number 9 but Nvidia decided to skip more numbers.
Windows 9 got skipped since they did not want to associate it with 8. And 8.1 was pretty much W9.
Nvidia naming is just dumb. A better name would have e.g. been 1160 or 1560 if the large skip was needed. Why 6 for the hundreds?

If you were talking about gaming performance in general, you're dead wrong.
Pricewise you get more bang for the buck on Ryzen.
Just because intel and the fanboys always want to tunnel vision on the high end doesn't mean that intel is winning.
You can't compare a 9900k with a Ryzen 7 2700x.
Thats almost 300bucks difference.
You can buy a better monitor, a better graphics card or even a better cooler.
In any way you wouldn't have any impact on Gaming performance when buying such a high end cpu, as you'd play on 1440p and higher.
The bottleneck would be the gpu, which would in most cases benefit buying the AMD CPUs as you could buy a better GPU or better cooling for more silence.
You could even buy a modmic dt880 and a creative z6.
Let's compare a 7700k (which as of now costs about 65 Euros more than a 2700x)
7700k 4x 4,2GHz / 5,2 in most cases
2700X 8x 3,70 / 4,4 in most cases with a better cooler even 4,6
Now tell me which is better.

The name is actually quite clear. It is a predasessor to the 2000 or TU 20 line of GPUs. Probably the first TU iteration... Or at least the first sensible one for the current market. They should just drop the GTX and RTX and name the next gen after the GPU ex: TU1660 and TU2080 or even better drop the marketing all together and just put Nvidia TU 108 on the box. Marketing is the confusion and hidding of facts but mostly it just waste my time!

It's the "RTX2060" there's no GTX2060. It's still based on the newer Turing architecture but doesn't have Tensor and RT cores to reduce the die size and price.

Have you checked Amazon? Best price I can see the GTX 1070 for is $378 from Gigabyte. The 1660 Ti is listing for $279 between Gigabyte and Zotac.

Pretty sure that Linus dropped something again.
They should really get a dedicated audio guy on board, not try to get someone who does it maybe half-decently on the side. Hell, even a 5 second test recording before actually shooting would highlight the hissing and noise problems that sometimes plague their videos, and could be quickly diagnosed and fixed in the right hands. Or, just use some noise reduction software or careful EQing in post if setting up things properly before-hand is too much work/time.
Is it me or is the performance gains so minimal every time they make a new card. I will stick with my GTX 970 was used 2 years ago only 160 euro.

Depends what you want from the card, the low end is minor improvements. When you buy 600-700 cards the improvement has been significant. Coming from a 970 myself and bought a 2080 for 660 last month. :)

Same here, I have a GTX 970 and a 1440p 80hz monitor. Obviously it isn't running smooth anymore at all, especially at 1440p. I might either buy a Vega 64 since it is 150 euros cheaper than a RTX 2070 or I will just wait for Navi, which might be a better option.

As much as they try.. the average price for low end X60 or 1060 with adjustment for inflation was around $190-220. So let's see if GTX 1660 (not Ti) is priced at $230 or less, hopefully. And I'd absolutely hate if they pull that GT1030 DDR4 scam again. Also I have a feeling they are going to try and bull$hit us and try charge way more for GTX 1650 than normal. Don't let Nvidia fool you. At one point GTX 1050 was $90-100 before mining. And I got numerous 1050 Ti under $130. After mining they screwed up the prices on them.

@@Biskawow umm... depends, vega 56 here where i live is at cheapest 320 and 1660 ti 300, AND USES HALF power, for those saying it doesnt matter much... where i live electricity is extremely expesive so vega with 4 h day gaming can cost me 100$ more per year than the 1660 ti, + i dont need such a good psu for the 60 ti, it also comes with itx form factor and can be more silent, so its generaly better than vega 56, but what if you dont care bout bills have overkill psu big case and can be bothered to undervolt and adjust vega 56... then yea go ahead, but vega 56 is not just, plain better, it depends

There is human psychology behind this naming. 1660 will make people think it is much more better than 10 series cards. 1160 will make people think it's just a small increment in performance.
This name alone gives freedom to charge a higher price than the card deserves.

Best name would be GTX 2050 because it is as new as the 2000s and not RTX. But either way the RTX cards should be named RTX 1100 and not 2000.

Well, with snapdragon 4xx is low end, 6xx is medium, 8xx is high end. Second and third number are exact model. For 8xx it goes like this (higher number is faster/better): 800, 801, 805, 808, 810, 820, 821, 835, 840, 845, 850, 855.
