I have had two kickboxing fights and the nerves are the worst part . Realizing that makes it easier. Knowing that you wont fold up when faced with adversity gave me confidence and just remember that no matter what happens, its going to be okay.
I had my first comp a couple of weeks ago and I was never nervous at all leading up to it. That is very rare. But about 2 minutes into the first match I started to feel the reality of the situation. But after that, I was calm and relaxed from then on. It may be that I was in the Marine Corps, fought most of my life and Wrestled in high school and just know kids what to expect when competing. Plus I have the best team and coach anywhere around Houston/Galveston by far. My coach is a Marcelo Garcia black belt and a world class badass on the competition scene. All the above helped me to go in confident and calm. I walked away with Gold and Silver in my two brackets for Gi and No-Gi and the only one I lost was by an advantage. I’m competing again in June at Jiu-Jitsu World League in No-Gi and I’m pumped up for it.
Thanks for the vid kit Im 14,turning 15 been doing jiu jistu for near 3 years now My last bjj comp I was fine up until the moment I walked onto the mat Then I got really nervous and shaky. hid it with deep breaths but got a big adrenaline dump and got tired and after that i got stuck in positions I wasn't really used to Lost the match felt shit as, for the rest of the day Seeing your videos and your experience really helps thanks mate
Self judgment is worst and putting pressure on one self. Noone cares if you win or lose, but you. Think of good things that can come out of even if you lose. Keep thinking them. Don't listen to demonic music before compatition.
Thanks brother that really helps. I had gassed early during a match because I was overly psyched. I got a tournament this weekend and I'm going to definitely apply this to my thoughts. Oss
