The Disney studio has lost so much of its heart and sense of Americana over the years. Thank God we have these sweet films of the past to remind us of a simpler, more wholesome time.
I loved Elliot.... He was Pete's true friend that got him out of an abusive situation... He and Nora keep me connected to my father... He and I loved the move... He was as happy as I was when it first came out on VHS.... He said that when I saw it in 77 I cried when he left.. I was only 6.. It was one of the films we rented when video rentals were the in thing.. Owned it on tape and now DVD...
Gosh I love this song. The song and the movie hold very special memories for me as I watched it over and over with my nieces and nephews when it came out on video. Hard to believe how long ago that was
The best part of Disney's original "Pete's Dragon" is this song and this sequence! As a whole, I feel the film disappoints, but Helen Reddy's superlative vocal and one of the best songs in any movie ever, give the original "PD" it's "moment!"
It's very special for me also as it was the only film me my Ma and 2 young brothers saw at the Odeon film picture house in Glasgow. And from way on back to my very young small little slim boy childhood I have always loved dragons. No child should ever be in the dark. And at age 10, I was in a boys home. This film has special memories for me and anyone who says they don't like this they are on some other planet. I love dragons and I always will. Even the song Puff the Magic Dragon. Many other films they always have evil dragons that take over and destroy but this is far much better and it does spread a good message.

It's been so long since I've seen this movie. Still recognized the song and movie when I read it in a fan fic.
Just beautiful!
Helen Reddy: "I'll Never Let You Go I'll Never Let You Go I'll Never Let You Go..."
I'm SO sad to hear of her passing...

R.I.P Helen Reddy As Nora Who Sings Candle On The Water From Walt Disney's Pete's Dragon
Pete has the same face as my younger brother from when he was little....except no freckles and no blush colored skin
@ELLADOGZ I think it came out good, if you don't like it, OH WELL! =)
I love this song, but standing in front of the lamp at a lighthouse at night is kinda dangerous isn't it?
How ironic that Elliot had to let Pete go...
no thank you! =)
