I don't actually which is a strange one as I know a lot of folks do. I think it's because I've had bad experiences with varnishing miniatures early on in hobby and I keep avoiding it! Deffo right on the Contrast - thanks for taking the time to watch and comment :)
I would like to start with Skaven as my first army but I am pretty intimidated after I watched some UA-camrs (Poorhammer together with Vince Venturella) do a ranking of the painting difficulty of Age of Sigmar armies a few days ago with Skaven being ranked as one of the most difficult ones and not recommended to new players at all… 😢
They can be quite difficult but I would say that with the use of slapchop and contrast paints, you can get the army looking "good" without too much effort. I managed to get through the Spearhead in around a week. You just have to be comfortable with the end product you're going for :) Don't be afraid to give it a go!
wow these look incredible. super poppy colors
Thanks :)
I like his lovely denim dress
Setting the trend
Very nice. Just bought a load of Skavern on eBay. Some great bargains. Basically a new spearhead box for £40
Ah that's awesome!
Great work for these and your stormcast! Do you varnish your miniatures? Contrast used in the right way are a godsend

They look really good. Have they been varnished?
They have not been. I don't tend to like using varnish as I'm worried about ruining the miniatures!
@BecauseOfDragons a good matt varnish like Winsor and Newton would give some protection against the speed paint rubbing off
