Problem with this game is the speed is behind the times. It should play more like Virtua Tennis if it's high ranked players. Even in real life it's quicker. Though this will be fun. It's not realistic enough.
Yep it looks so slow and awkward. Surely they should be able to fix this by now…players are stood still waiting for the ball a lot of the time. Looks pretty rubbish
My review on top spin 5 after watching the first videos:
I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT NO UA-cam CHANNEL HAS YET MENTIONED THE ABSOLUTELY POOR WORK THAT HAS BEEN DONE WITH TOP SPIN 5.
Let's start with the graphic improvement which is ridiculous to say the least, top spin 4 came out in 2011 so top spin 5 came out 13 years later!! Personally, I don't notice such a clear graphic improvement compared to the previous chapter. In fact, comparing the two chapters despite the 13 year difference, the difference from a graphic point of view is really minimal.
Then the animations, many (almost all?) of which were directly copied and pasted from top spin 4, some even from the first top spin! (you can see it in an animation of Federer's backhand) Even the ball timing fonts are identical to the 4, notice how the forehand and backhand slice animations are identical to the chapter from 13 years ago,
or many of the forehand, backhand, volley and serve animations, many of these are identical to top spin 4! And some new animations are ridiculous, look at Federer's backhand for example which has nothing to do with the real counterpart and with any professional tennis counterpart (it looks like an amateur backhand in some animations) or Federer's straight-legged forehand Has anyone ever seen him play like this? I never.
The gameplay, graphics and game mechanics seem incredibly similar after 13 years, the timing on the ball is the same and also the ridiculous preparation animation (such a long pause when you raise the racket over your shoulder is unrealistic ).
The speed of the ball is funny, sometimes it seems to defy the laws of physics because of how slow it is, it seems like they are playing on the lunar surface, both in groundstrokes and in serves.
The volleys are too unrealistic, anyone who knows a little about tennis can only agree.
The animations of tennis players rarely resemble their real counterparts. Watch a McEnroe or Federer or Tiafoe match and tell me if the animations resemble real players.
Are we kidding, 13 years for this stuff??
It would have only been acceptable if they called it top spin remastered or top spin 4.1 and it came out 6 months after 4.
I would like to make an appeal, since I can't stand mediocre tennis games anymore, I volunteer for free to help the developers finally create a good tennis game, I think I could do better than this mess, it's certainly a pipe dream This appeal is a provocation but I'll do it anyway!
Sorry for the outburst but I've been waiting a long time for top spin 5 and in general for a good tennis game (finally) but it seems that this time too I'll still have to wait.
Top spin 4 was a good game with good animations no.? No need to try and reinvent the wheel. Also depending on the difficulty the ball speed will change so easier difficultes have slower ball movement for timing reasons most likely

What absolutely baffles me is how an indie game on steam made by like 2 people can have more accurate ground stroke animations than this game made by a professional team. Tennis elbow and Full Ace perfectly capture the ground strokes of these real players whilst console games are incapable of doing so. Like why? Federer does not hit the ball like this

I always asked for top spin 4 remastered and for me this is exactly what I wanted, I'm so happy.
Do you expect that in the grand slam edition with the 6 game passes, there also will be new players? otherwise, double prize for clinical shirts, rackets etc. looks a bit expensive.

Even the physics on their clothes is terrible
for the last time, it's not that they had 13 years in development, this game has been developed probably in 2/3 years, it looks amazing compared to other games, wait to see it at Expert/Legend difficulty.
nothing special compared to TS4, but still better than the many tennis games out there.

@@issflo do you think that this will be the same timing system as top spin 4 had? Releasing the button exactly when the ball is close to you? I mean i heard it will be more difficult to hit a good shot when the rally is longer and you player is exhausted

he literally played at Normal for fuck's sake, even TS4 in normal is easy as hell, wait till you see an Expert/Legend mode gameplay.
That’s not even close to Tiafoe’s swings … like wtf. 13 years and they can’t even get mo-cap of the strokes STILL!? Roger’s game looks copy/pasted too.. I WANT to like this but I’m not paying $60 bucks just for a reskinned TS4…
Players movements still look so slow and rigid, looks like a last gen game tbh. It takes too much time for the ball to get to the player at times as well so the player is literally stood still like a statue. Why can they never fix this? Say what you want about fifa but by now it does look like you’re watching actual football in most cases
