Here’s an outsider’s perspective for you.. The immigration system doesn’t encourage legal immigration and cultural assimilation. I came to England legally with my mum when I was 10 years old and I left last year when I was 23. 13 years I’ve witnessed the decline of this country. To come legally you need to be educated & have experience plus pay an exorbitant amount of taxes which is fine for an opportunity. It’s designed to fill the labour gap. The problem is there’s absolutely NO incentive to come through the front door. Coming on a boat and claiming asylum requires no actual transferable skills.. most of them don’t even speak English. For some reason the system house them in hotels for free and provide asylum claims. In short.. it’s cheaper and much easier to come illegally. Some of these people once they get citizenship have access to more opportunities especially in government and military. Even after a decade I’m still not able to join the Army etc. Seeing them fast tracked into housing, benefits and government for absolutely free while im sitting here rejected from service triggered me to the point I had to leave. 😂 I’m all with Reform UK.

I saw the rot in the early 2000s and was denigrated for mentioning my concerns. Moved abroad several times, each time coming back through rose tinted specs only to see how divided society is yet accompanied by the inability to actually speak openly about the problems. Settled in Japan in mid 2010s and not looked back. I thought I would move back to the UK at some point but absolutely everthing I hear and see in the news tells me, regrettably, that it would be the biggest mistake of my life. I hope the UK can turn things around and for me, the main issue centres around an anti- British cultural identity crisis, unfettered mass immigration and the associated criminality. All of the other issues of which there are many, can be fixed, but once you are demographically replaced, there is little recourse. It’s not looking good looking at London, Birmingham and Manchester. Some might say it’s too late but I think over the coming decade we’ll hear more and more about deportations. I recall hearing recently that 40% of the foreign born population in the UK came in the last 10 years. It needs to stop and be addressed pronto.

It is the "Keep calm and carry on" and "stiff upper lip" mantra. That sort of brainwashing keeps the Brits in their place and they are even proud of it.

It is a bit grim. I was in Dresden last week and they have their own problems (their main bridge over the Elbe - the Carolabrücke just collapsed), but things still felt way better. The cafes were full, the streets were busy and there are still a lot of little shops open. It was the same in Weimar, Jena and Meissen which I also visited. Contrast that with provincial towns and cities in my neck of the woods like Rotherham, Doncaster and Worksop which all look like they have passed through a zombie apocalypse and you can see why people want to leave. People blame it on online shops like Amazon and that is true to a point, but they also have Amazon in Germany. The decline has being going on for a long time of course, but it really feels like most people just gave up after 2020.
My dear boy. Political economy 101. That's the main thing we all need. After that, we all need education in history, philosophy, psychology, economics, and the humanities. 2020 and people giving up, they gave up on things a lot sooner than that. To blame 2020 is to give up on science well before 2020 even arrived. So there's an ignorance problem, first and foremost with that, and it just the tip of the iceberg. People didn't revolt when toilet paper was invented for sanitary reasons. No, people adapted and began wiping their asses and carried on. 2020 was absolutely nothing. With Amazon, that's another thing that's a tip of the ice berg. It's not just Amazon as a company, but it's also the products themselves, where they come from, and why, and how all this modern economy functions and why. You have an innocent approach still, you are observing the results of the things happening, but you don't know their causes nor their solutions. You're blaming a singular emergency global event, or at least acknowledging that a lot of people do, and a single company for what's happened to high street businesses. These aren't deliberate policies or choices that everyone made with the intention to ruin people or piss them off, these are the results and effects of other choices that were often necessary or seemed like the best choices at the time. The hindsight is what is 20/20. Which is why it's important you get a handle on the multiple humanities disciplines to learn to understand and articulate these things. People throwing bricks through windows and throwing themselves on to the pikes of the government will never tangibly solve anything. Good luck out there.
Totally agree with all you said in this video. Over recent years we have failed to invest adequately in our armed forces leaving us vulnerable in a major world conflict yet we send billions to Ukraine despite this huge black hole Labour keep banging on about. We send money in aid to countries we shouldn't as well as spending money on dubious climate change initiatives and don't get me started on immigration. And our politicians are entitled free loaders who are there to enrich themselves and not serve their country.
@geoffclarke3796 The Indian government even refused our foreign aid, saying they didn't need it anymore! The UK then started exploring 'backdoors' to get the aid into India, we started giving it to NGOs and directly to small towns and villages. We were that desperate to give money away!
Brilliant video mate and you make some very good points. I lived in Russia on and off for many years and I really don't see a lot of difference being back here, especially these days. And definitely with freedom of speech, in some ways they have more there (shock horror!) The government here will never care about people's mental health, that's why they relentlessly make fear mongering comments and allow it to be printed in the media. They want people living in fear and depression. Sadly, I do feel that the British people need to take more blame though. Yes, some are waking up. But there are still many that are blindly loyal to the completely corrupt and in some ways immoral system around them. As you say, they are just happy to go along with it. The British priminister has stolen money from pensioners, so that he can give it to Ukraine and the US. They want that situation to go as long as they can, so that they can keep lining their pockets. Anyone who still can't see this is beyond any help, in my opinion. Anyway great video and keep it up, for as long as you can...!!

Im an American living in the once beautiful state of California. Southern California. It seems we are in a fallen state. You aren’t alone. Im visiting GB this Monday. Haven’t been since 1989. Seems the western world is in collapse, from having it to good for far too long and taking it for granted. It requires work and leaders who lead using logic and rational thinking to protect public safety. Citizens used to know that concept. Not today. They have elected leaders who use emotions, thus lack logic to make good decisions. People like this should never be in positions of authority. But we put them there and now they are telling us we should suffer because we built our laws and communities the wrong way. I kid you not. They are anti children, anti family, anti religion and have built up an intolerant spinster generation of confusion and contempt for those of us who think as individuals. They have ruled my state for 15 years and we are now experiencing the dire consequences. They want to censor speech, forced their tech partners like Google to rewrite history to reflect a DEI perspective. Passed laws to go after those who post political cartoons. They tell us only ‘they know what’s best’ for us. They keep taking more taxes and demanding we follow a progressive agenda that is actually doing more harm to society than good. The middle class has died here on their watch. Most have moved away and in their place are the hyper wealthy, who can’t be bothered and can afford the inflated costs to live here, the destitute, and people like myself. Left overs from a generation that had shared common values that sustained us. What a mess.

Hi Ed, I tend to agree with you on these points at age 53 myself, having lived 23 years in Manchester and here in the U.K., however the situation is much worse in my native Republic of Ireland since Covid, where even my entire family in Rural Ireland are in denial about what is really happening and have embraced woke leftist ideologies, which is going to have a serious impact on our young people in the years and decades ahead - my last visit home to Ireland was in October 2022 and since then, even planning a trip home to Ireland from the U.K. is becoming increasingly uncertain, with all manner of last minute travel disruptions and delays, flight, train and ferry cancellations - given my 30 years in supermarket retailing, I honestly don’t see any way out of this situation in our lifetimes unless intervention from a previously unknown and unexpected source happens very soon and with strong leadership, which in reality, I don’t see happening anytime soon

@michaeljohndennis2231 Yes, the situation is definitely dire, and in the short term at least, going to get worse. The UK and Eire definitely have a lot of strengths, educated workforce, solid innovation (the UK is fifth in the world for innovation), some of the worlds top universities. We need a strong, sensible government to take advantage of these strengths. We also need to start investing in our crumbling infrastructure and start to value vocational education again. There's a lot more that needs doing, but again it's reliant on sensible leadership. Is there really much chance of that.....?
I’m a Londoner and I’m British and it breaks my heart to see my country falling apart but the neglect hasn’t just happened, it has been steadily declining since we lost our manufacturing in the 1980s when Margaret Thatcher changed our economy from manufacturing to services, like finance and exporting our expertise to help other countries be more competitive. And that has a knock on effect because when the factories closed down it destroyed local communities that relied on that for work and to be part of something they took pride in. Although, the U.K. did retain high tech manufacturing in some sectors like defence and aviation, including, building naval ships and nuclear submarines for the Royal Navy and Jet engines for most of the worlds commercial airlines as some examples. So, not all is lost as the 9th biggest manufacturer in the world, but the problem for the U.K. is cost, and our governments determination to switch from fossil fuels to renewables which means the U.K. is no longer competitive at the moment to manufacture its own steel and because we’re struggling to keep the lights on as well, british manufacturers can’t compete with foreign manufacturers like we use to. But British innovation leads the world and is alive and well because that’s why so many foreign students want to come here to study engineering at our world leading universities. But british entrepreneurs and British manufacturers struggle to develop British innovation because of cost and excessive bureaucracy that prevents our brightest ideas being developed by British companies. So, British innovation ends up being developed by foreign companies instead which is really sad and prevents the U.K. from utilising it’s strength in innovation to make our country wealthier. Also, a big problem which is the cause of so many problems for the U.K. is our government have sold out and no longer put the country and its people first. They encourage foreign investment over British investment and that’s why this country is getting poorer. Foreign investment aren’t loyal to Britain and most of their profits end up going abroad instead of reinvesting back in the U.K..
A very, very good video. All of the points you've made are well made. The point about attitude is very poignant. My wife and I lived in Spain for eleven years. When we came back to the UK we were shocked at what we found. The exact words I used were; ' This seems like a country that no one cares about, everything seems like it's broken, nothing works anymore!' It seems like the spirit of the people has been broken, the last 44yrs of Milton Friedmans Chicago School economics has destroyed the country for the benefit of a few, as it has in every country it has been implemented in! When I was at school, there was pride in being a plumber, an electrician, a nurse, in short words, something useful. Now, an estate agent believes themselves better than the aforementioned! One thing that does need to be mentioned is the infamous UK class system that holds back talented, intelligent people based upon what their parents did, or what accent they speak with. The USA is the richest nation on Earth with a enviable GDP growth rate; they don't care what your parents did, it's what you as an individual did that matters, and what you bring to the table. Same in Spain. I met a working class couple in tears in Spain at what they were able to achieve vs the life they had in the UK. Re your last point, I, as a Eurasian, Anglo - Chinese agree. I've been totally shocked at how London has changed! I won't go any further due to the way our freedom of speech has been eroded in this country. But yes, it definitely feels like a foreign country now!
Spot on. Your truth is deep. When the plumber decides to carry his tools to fix another place rather than your place, then you know your place has a problem. High taxes and crimes deter growth and it seems businesses are closing down. People are not realizing that one needs to scratch the surface to realize that a deep hole beneath. The moment you pointed out to value system being eroded. When people lack values it means their ethos is down the drain. There is a lacuna that requires urgent address of whether who instills cultural identity, what's the purpose of it and how do people/citizens ensure that its protected? It leads back to value system supply chain. The culture of lying and masking the current problems in most cases supercedes the values of truth, honesty, integrity and accountability.

I totally agree with the downfall of the UK. But I disagree with your praise of many other countries like Thailand, Poland, and especially the UAE. Those countries all have significant problems of their own. Thailand's wages are super low... If you can be a digital nomad you can stay there for a bit, but you will have no path to permanent residency or citizenship unless you marry a thai, or accept a lowly thai job paying poor thai wages for many years. As for UAE, sure, they don't have any income taxes, but they tax the hell out of everything else, like VAT. This is no problem if you're a high earner, but even then, you must make sure you are a heterosexual male who doesn't mind living in a desert without nature. It's shit everywhere atm. And it will probably stay that away, because that's how it's been for most of human history. The post war period and globalisation added a temporary boost to everyone, but it's only a matter of time before that newfound wealth all gets concentrated again to the rich.

You raise some very good points, especially with the need for change. I think many of these views are shared by the general populace. Personally, I am tired of the government and corporations increasing their grip on citizens to further their own motivs and agendas. Free speech is in jeopardy and our privacy is now a bargaining chip. There is so much segregation being pushed, supposedly for the benefit of the people, that it has gone in the opposite direction; we're being told diversity and inclusion matters but the whole point of equality is to reach a point where it DOESN'T matter. Clients are being encouraged to discriminate against suppliers based on if they are BAME owned or owned by other "focus groups", I attended a webinar on it today. The world's gone mad and the British people, notorious for putting up with things and doing nothing about it, are starting to take a stand -- and they are being censored for it which is terrifying. If you can't be critical of your own government, what's the next thing to be taken away? On immigration, the UK needs it. Simple as. There is a huge demand for skilled workers, and seasonal unskilled workers; modern British work culture does not encourage hard work or "remedial" jobs, if British citizens won't do it then workers that will do it get brought in. Illegal immigration is a whole other beast, but I won't touch on that. Thank you for making this video. I appreciate it's not one you wanted to make but it's something that needs discussion and attention. I was worried it'd be another pot stirring discriminatory soapbox video but it was so refreshing to hear a nuanced approach. We don't need immigration at anywhere near the level we have. All that amounts to is poaching the best of other nations, and also exploiting others who are willing to put up with dogshit pay and conditions because natives (quite rightly) will not. What we actually need is to confront the greed and corruption that runs this country. We don't pay people anywhere near what they should be paid relative to the work provided, we don't train people properly, we don't even educate people properly any more either. The entire country is possessed by this 'mugging off' attitude where they think their corruption can vanish like a fart in the wind, when in actuality it just compounds along with everyone else's. Selfishness, basically.

@EdBrinton The point is net carbon reduction and to decrease the overall global population. E.g. If you take 10 million people every year out of Africa and the poor part of Asia where the birth rate is 4.5 and move them to the west where the average birth rate for immigrant families is 1.9, that will cause a significant decrease in global population by 2050. I think the aim is to stop population reaching 10 Billion by any means necessary as this will cause disastrous ecological collapse when these countries develop in 10-20 years (e.g. Build coal power stations for cheap energy and everyone buys a car). I also believe the woke ideology has the same agenda. Best way of making people have less children is to turn them gay, make housing unaffordable and generally decrease the quality of life for the vast majority of the population in a controlled manner. Also, people ask "why do corporations support left-wing ideologies which tax them more". The reason why is that left wing policies effectively put up a large barrier to entry. Large corporations would take higher market share over short term profit any day. Plus they get to virtue signal as they buy up all the housing and take an even greater control over society. Democracy is dead not because content is moderated, but because the "context" is so tightly controlled that no discussion can take part outside of that context. BBC claims to be unbiased in terms of content. However, they do not create political content, they control the context upon which discussion can take place. A very good video about this comes from a video game from 1999 believe it or not haha. Search for "MGS2 end dialogue regarding AI". Absolutely nails it.

As we saw in the pandemic we can't produce our own masks or whatever, when something global happens nations keep things for themselves, we can't make military grade steel now for battleships, what ammunition do we make? How about fertilizer or oil and gas? So we have been let down again, over exposed to risks, weakened and no longer independent enough as nations. We now have predominantly service sector industry, that and IT/tech. The tertiary service sector doesn't actually make anything, the quaternary IT lot have it made abroad. What is there for the people who don't find reading and writing as easy as I do? Where do they get their pride from making things, their reason to be, their income from? I've worked in construction and services, washed dishes and dug trenches in the ice and mud, the people I worked with were proud, they hated scroungers, but the idea that they can just learn to code is a joke. Remember about 14% of people can't do enough independently to be able to join the US Army as a grunt... There has been no strategy outside of GDP go up, profit go up, we have allowed competition to grow whilst being bathed in a false apathetic security. Then people wonder why Brexit happened or Trump, as they wonder why there are riots. They won't understand what is coming next either, they are going to get a shock.
Putin may have been in power for many terms, *BUT* the majority of Russians are far better off than the average Englishman. - Far better tax rates - Cheap fuel - Better quality food - Free education and healthcare ( that actually works ) - A society that rejects "western values" - Four weeks paid holidays - Generous maternity leave etc etc etc
That is not true. Dont fall for propaganda. I went to Russia and went all over the place after the World Cup and lived in the UK for two years on an exchange program. The average british person is way better off than the average russian. The ´point is that there are some russians who live in Moscow and are doing well who think that is the reality of Russia and russians. The average person in Russia earns between 350 and 400 dollars but prices of most stuff are not very different form those in the UK, especially food. Only rent is cheaper but still, adjusted by salaries you have a higher purchasing power. What is happening in Russia is worse than the gap between London and the rest of the country. Moscow gets so much investment that it is like a first world city surrounded by a developing nation so the whole country is moving there while the rest is falling behind. I thought the gap between London and the rest of the country was the worst until I went there. And they do it also for propaganda reasons..they know people who go to Russia go almost exclusively to Moscow and they need to show that Moscow is Russia. It is different in other countries though..China on the other hand is actually a well developed nation over most of the country.
The problem with moving abroad is that sooner or later you have to come back. I taught English around the world for the last nine years and came back to a country that is full of spite and hate. Now I'm not even allowed to work in Europe because of the stupid 'shoot yourself in the foot' Brexit bullshit, without going through a mountain of bureaucracy ( expensive and time consuming), otherwise I would be off again. Then again, it's the people who make the country - but I don't like how preference is given because of DEI targets being seen as more important that ability in any job that you apply for. 11:44 “Apparently we have freedom of speech,, Possibly..let’s find out.” And then subsequently saying you’re not going to say anymore says more about the state of civil liberties in the UK then any other so called think tank or human rights organisation can ever write about or articulate. This is what I would call self-censorship as you want to say something but refraining from doing so because you fear the consequences. In the words of Idi Amin: “There is freedom of speech, but I cannot guarantee freedom after speech”.

@@EdBrinton Getting “cancelled” is the least of your troubles. Imagine having the police coming to your door and arresting you and then being dragged through a protracted legal proceedings that are inevitably political in nature because of something you said?
You're comparing anecdotes of other countries will real statistics of the UK. The murder rate in Thailand is three times higher than the UK. You infer there's little freedom of speech in the UK. Try criticising the government in the UAE. Poland is heavily reliant upon fossil fuels and will find the transition to Net Zero much harder than here in the UK.
@@EdBrinton Watching several videos of Brits and Americans moving to cheaper countries, I realised that all of those countries are still reliant upon fossil fuels for their energy supply. These fuels are cheap, hence prices are cheap. These countries will find transitioning to Net Zero an expensive process resulting in the same higher prices for everything we have experienced. We are just 10 years ahead of them.
@@JakeLDS How would Green, a party entirely obsessed with an issue of which we have very little control over, help the UK? Net Zero for us is pissing in the wind, have you seen the stats in China and India?
@@avacyn2000 the greens had a fully costed manifesto with policies on all sorts of things that effect everyone’s daily lives far beyond just the climate. Yes, the climate is central to them because we’re all screwed of it’s not fixed, like everyone single one of us on the planet regardless of wealth. And yes, of course the Uk alone won’t change a thing. All nations need to play ball but we have to begin, someone has to begin. Otherwise no one does anything and we all just accept our fate. Which honestly I’m happy with but you can get f**ked if you expect me to pay taxes and be part of a society that is going to be burnt to a crisp in a few decades anyway. In doing what I want with me time if no one else gives a sh*t. I’d like to swim in our rivers or the sea with my free time but they’re all full of sh*t. Basically we either accept that society is about to collapse or we try to fix the climate and give people a reason to commit their lives to functioning within society. For a functioning society you need basic services that work, healthcare, fire brigade, controversially police and prison systems, a welfare and care system for people that can’t work. For a flourishing society you need transport infrastructure that isn’t sh*te and overpriced, housing that isn’t sh*te and overpriced, good working conditions so people don’t hate their lives etc. the greens had policies on all of this but you lot chose Keir “bring back the sausages” Starmer 🤮 Serious question. Do you honestly think Keir Starmer was a better choice than the greens? Can you say that without vomiting in your mouth a little bit? The greens offered to tax the wealthy billionaires that sponge off the UK and use that money to fund all our currently failing services. But instead we got Keir Starmer who has decided what we need to do instead of taxing the rich is take money away from pensioners at winter, knowing 4000 of them will die in the cold. At least we’ve got the earth boiling to look forward to keeping us warm. That or Armageddon, that should warm us up a little. Thick!!
I’d like to know what your real agenda is as I don’t believe it is as how you present it- 1. Lazy to say political elites don’t care -they are no different from the elites we’ve always had so this factor doesn’t account for your argument for decline. 2. UAE- erm so try being an Indian or Pakistani or other guest worker there doing the most menial tasks in that country. Economic and wealthy disparity is the accepted norm there. So no different than from here. 3. Crime rate -you are full of exaggerations. The motive of releasing some prisoners is as you well know because our prisons are bursting. Why don’t you ask the question why aren’t our prisons working ? And btw I noted your inserting a comment about sending money abroad which I guess is a reference to Ukraine , we are supporting a sovereign nation fight for its life, because we realise we may well have to fight for ours too in future if we don’t oppose imperialism. 4. Traditional , family , values , as far as I know most households still live in families, I don’t understand what you are trying to insinuate here, and you deliberately insinuate a lot which is you no more than you trying to manipulate opinion on here? 5. Cultural identity -we are a multicultural society now -fact- so I agree we need a good understanding of what it is to be British we can all agree on and that to my mind is equality before the law, respect and tolerance of difference , freedom of speech , universal suffrage .

All of the other issues of which there are many, can be fixed, but once you are demographically replaced, there is little recourse. It’s not looking good looking at London, Birmingham and Manchester.

@@lukeweidemann9166 thank you brother I'm glad you agreed and enjoyed. All the best with you truly:)

We turned our backs to our King and now he has turned from our country.
What's the King got to do with it?

The point is net carbon reduction and to decrease the overall global population.

2:20 no mate, UAE doesn't make a lot at all, they have tertiary services, not secondary industry. The oil money and no benefits or NHS enables them to have such low to no taxes.
@@RichardEnglander thoughts on USA?
@@EdBrinton USA like UK had Neoliberal Laissez-faire Globalist policies, they didn't care where things were made and who made them. 'Made in Britain' and 'Made in America' meant quality, as did Made in Germany for that matter, but the polticial business elite let it all go to Taiwan and then India, Vietnam, China, Korea... They still made money. Meanwhile this hollowing out of industry led to the 'rust belts' in USA and the problems in our many northern towns. The reason for the location of the homes was gone because the jobs were gone, and with that loss of reason for location and work, many people also lost their reason to be, they feel ignored by the polticial elites and they are right to do so. It is one of the key drivers of the mental health issues and unaliving rates in males, so we have been failed there, and then again with National Security.
