I love it. I love the cell shaded graphics. Gives the game its own personality and style. I don't want another Sims 4 remake. I want EA to fix Sims 4 and Paralives to be seen as its own entity. The sliders are just as intuitive as push and pull if not more. I like that you can see exactly where you will be making adjustments. I love that the camera goes to the area your adjusting. I'm so excited for this game!!!
I love the style they’re going with for the paras’. Def can see the potential it has in being developed. I can imagine in my head how their facial expression would look so cool in the style of they pull it off right. I’m excited to see how their UI looks. I prefer sliders vs grab and move like in S4.
I'm weird ha I'm cool with either system once I get used to it. I loved that they show Maggie having a funny expression when she has different colored socks-- definitely interested to see different facial expressions in the future

Hope this helps. :)
I actually prefer sliders to dragging! I think that, at least comparing Sims 3 and Sims 4, sliders have more versatility and are far less dependant on presets to make a diverse array of Sims I'm guessing that Paralives will have at least as many sliders as Sims 3 did for facial features, and it already seems to have more body sliders, so I think this is good!
I don't know if you know about Sims 2 bodyshop, but THAT was the real deal! Got my laptop back then close to exploding but you could make very detailed Sims.
I like the slide and grid system. I am so used to it by now (I played the sims 3 and gotten used to how it functioned.) I’m glad they decided to change it-it makes it their own. Personally I’ll get the game whenever it releases.
I love that they have the number there as someone who tends to go back and create parents or sibling or grandparents for my sims and likes to match features. I wish they could've included click and pull as well too alternate between but I think this will turn out pretty well.
I’m so eager to see more about gameplay, I hope it’s catered more towards adults, because that is the main demographic that seems to be interested, and not so child friendly I personally enjoy more realism. I was wondering what you thought about that Erin? do you feel it’ll be better for the team to take a more adult centered gameplay, like including things such as wine and parafolks getting drunk.
@@angelacooper8973 Yeah I figured as well, I just wish it wasn’t cause I personally don’t like downloading mods and CCs cause I’ve had bad past experiences but it makes more sense for it to be centered towards adults after all this isn’t a big company that needs to reach significantly high quotas like EA, don’t you agree?, but your right they still need to make a profit, so it would most likely be T-rated sadly.
Wow you were so fast! I saw the video just now and oh boy am I excited by it! It seems easy enough to understand what everything does. That being said, the music is a bit too reminiscent of another game's music so I hope they try out something different in that department. I don't dislike it, I just think piano and the mode is a bit too similar. The new graphics are growing on me though 😊
Now this explains the delay on new content and why they have been working on Paramaker this last year as they were forced to completely redo it. Looks good seems very easy to use and lets you see exactly the changes you are doing with the numbers.
Yeah I think the Paramaker will be intuitive to use, plus I love the customization. The art style I didn't know about at first, and now I've come to find quite charming
This looks good. I really like it. I prefer sliders myself. It looks like there are loads of them too. I'm excited to see more and gameplay when its ready
They said they’re not researched about the patent from ‘certain company’ when they developed paramaker with push and pull, so they just made it from scratch and use sliders diagram tools to change it
@@MaxxieJ_ sliders have been used before a ‘certain company’ 😂 so honestly with such a basic implementation they should be able to still use it. I hope 🤞 in the future they will change but I’m fine with it anyhow.

I actually like this system way more than sims 4. I always forget where on the face I'm able to manipulate what and how and where exactly I need to click to have what affect. This system looks like a perfect comprimise.
Is it just me, or did he look like Mortimer Goth at first? :P I'm excited for sliders, sometimes it can be a pain to find just the exact right spot to click in the Sims 4, or other games that have you clicking directly on the model. The graphics I'm holding off commenting on until it's at a minimum in an Alpha state.
It's pretty similar to the slider system in The Sims 3. Honestly, I prefer the pull and push system of The Sims 4. It's one thing TS4 has over 3. But maybe they'll change it in the future.
EA has patent on that - that's why they had to change it into this form. Which personally is much better choice, cause its as clickable as pull and drag system, it actually shows you what can be changed and it allows for you to do it precisely. I still don't get why Sims got the patent on something so basic, but I guess that's the good part for them to have actual monopoly for Sim games for so long.
I like that better than the sims 4 create a sim. The sims 4 is really not that great in my opinion. Because sometimes it can be hard to get it to what I want it to do. Depending on the angle that you grab something it does something over something else. And when you're a beginner to it, it makes it a bit unknown of all you can grab and how it's actually effecting it. Like with the face, sometimes I wonder if I grabbed the wrong spot. With this way it does the same thing to the body essentially but it straight up shows you what you are grabbing. I think it's way better. I personally like the custom spots to edit in the sims 4 compared to previous sims games, but I actually liked the slider method better. So this is even better. It's like mixing both together. I know they only did it this way coz the sims have a patent on their new way, but this is actually better anyway.
It's so weird.. I didn't even know you could have a patent on something like that-- seems weird to me, as you'd think a lot of games could use something like that?
@@SimmerErin yeah it's like how products with have a description in every possible way to describe the one thing so nobody can make knock offs even remotely close. Definitely a greed thing people do when they think it's the first and want to be the only one with it. It's a bit more odd I think for video game content due sure tho.
That's interesting how push n pull is patent protected, but I don't think it's EA saying just our system. I swear I've seen the slider system in another game but I can't think of it I know great argument. 😆 all they said was patent, everyone is like oh look EA ruining something they can do. Doesn't surprise me another video getting people to think this will make EA terminate sims, "do better" aka show they're "scared". I saw 290 comments on the short clip about the hair. Didn't go threw them but bet most said what I just said. I don't care for hair movement. Maybe it's because it's minor movement and I had to watch the clip several times to see what the point was. I don't know how much it cost and per hair and of graphics play a role; but I'd rather that money for other stuff. It's not a must have because it's a life simulation game. On them if they'll add hair movement when wind blow or the parafolk is jumping.
I had no idea about the patent, and it still is interesting to me because I wouldn't think you can patent an entire system like that? I could be wrong though. Tbh, I don't really care too much, I like Sims 4's system and I like what I see here
@@SimmerErin I've been reading patent mean license for a brand new item and looking up how it mean legal right to tell people they can't use whatever is protected makes me wonder how many people know that? The context I read is license to make something. 🤷♀️ But I've also noticed people argue this system is limited and I think people forget the very detailed face sliders, so I feel like people want this mess to be able to think they can customize the character. Though some of the sliders are weird to have. Looking at the slider, I thought how people complain they barely touch 4 and now hours will be spent in just CAS, and B/B (ven though we haven't seen items, I think it's safe to say they'll make sure it's better so people keep saying will terminate sims) so about not playing much? Lol 😆 oh I do wonder how many comments a post do they read "This will terminate sims." "EA is going down." Etc? So annoying.
Awww sliders, really? I really prefer the pushing and pulling in Sims 4 and was hoping they'd use that. But on the positive side, the sliders look better and more intuitive than the ones in Sims 2, so there's at least that.
Great update ❤️ I’ll be honest: I care about graphics but I see Paralives talking mostly about graphics and that’s what I’m least looking for in a Sims competitor. 👀 Graphically Paralives is not really yet an overwhelming competition for the mega-building simulator that Sims 4 is. Right now Paralives is a potential alternative to Sims 4, at most. But as a life simulator Sims 4 is lacking compared to Sims 3, but Paralives is probably going to be lacking compared to Sims 4. And, in my opinion, it’s a real waste because Paralives’s graphics seems to be not very CPU-busting and they could have really focused more on more complex psychology.
Funny, you say this, because I’m actually working on a digital-table top mix psychology game with my colleagues 😊 but it’s going to be in German. I do like in-depth relationship-exploring games, and, yes, in my opinion that it’s a shame that we don’t have more of those. But it’s definitely not a complaint 😊It’s market. Building simulators are just more popular. To each taste - their own crayon.
They aren't just talking about graphics-- it's more that people keep bringing them up ha. They actually discuss brainstorming for gameplay quite often, and I'll be covering another one shortly
This is fantastic 💕 and shows how one topic can be boosted to the point of creating a completely wrong impression about the game; from my subscription to their official media and from the Twitter topic people indeed seem to be only discussing graphics, making it seem like it’s going to be the game’s main attraction
It's great, very complete and user friendly. Pull and grab is not my cup of tea and these sliders offer more customization than TS3 (sorry for the comparison).
The cartoony art style is really what turns me off, and it’s not inherently because of the art style, but because it sort of forces you to do a certain thing rather than your own thing. It’s not as versatile to all users; it’s very niche. Even with CC, with that big outline around your character, you won’t be able to make realistic Paras… And that’s what I prefer: customization. In the Sims 4, you just need lashes, eyes, hair, and skin CC and you can easily make realistic Sims; here, it’d be extra hard. I want to make my realistic people sometimes, and I want cartoony people sometimes (but more like stylized people like Disney and Pixar, not straight-up 2D cartoon).
I see. That's ok, it's not for everyone. I think it makes sense for their resources, general direction and that it will not age graphics wise as quickly. But it's certainly not going to appeal to all
@@SimmerErin I guess what I would at least like is just no outline, more like just a 3D model, as that can be easily changed. They did a really great job of making all of the sliders, as I actually prefer that to dragging directly in some contexts as it allows for more specific adjustments. Adjusting the character from every angle will be helpful. What I do hope they have is varying types of facial definition, which is important for making diverse characters, especially East Asian people. It’s more difficult in the Sims 4 than in the Sims 3 to make an Asian Sim due to the nose. I also hope they have options for single and double eyelids. And I will probably will be getting the game anyway when it releases as the build mode already makes it worth it lol Even though I am a CAS person, I do enjoy building a lot, too. I’m hopeful for the project!
Thank you Erin I really appreciate your videos it’s all very interesting and I’m looking forward to para lives. The problem For me is it looks like a cartoon , I don’t like at all and I’m really hoping this is not the finished look. I could be perfectly content with the Sims 4 as it is now if it wasn’t for the Sims they are too goofy and stupid, and they ruin the whole game for me, so I am really hoping we get something a little more grown-up with para lives.

Thanks :) They definitely will be keeping a stylized 2D look. I don't think it's at the final design as of now, but I know they don't plan on realistic graphics.
@@ayaneagano6059 That’s exactly how I feel when I looked at that character I really didn’t like the black line around the body it just puts me off I will really want something more realistic
Did anyone else notice that the Para in the sliders video has a bit of a bulge in their underpants? I appreciate that the team isn’t afraid of showing this little (no pun intended) detail in lieu of a Ken doll body for masculine presenting Paras.
My only issue with the new parafolks is the black outline on them, it just doesn't look great to me. Not bad enough for me to not play but it is jarring imo. It looked a lot better when it wasn't there.
Unfortunately the "cartoonish" style has put me off this game. I remember when Sims 4 came out and everyone complained about it being "cartoonish", but compared to this, Sims 4 looks positively life like. I was excited to see what they'd do, but clearly this wont meet my expectations. The style looks like a throwback to games made in the late 80s early 90s. Yes absolutely. I think both build and paramaker modes are looking great
🍂 Loving it. Grateful for all the updates. I think the game is coming along very well. I love how we will be able to customize the characters in details. I like that there is so many things that are customizable from build buy objects, landscape, buildings to the characters. Thanks for the updates Erin 🍂
There is a great level of customization! No doubt about that
I’m so ready for this game 🙌🏽
i will double-check for your erin but in the last video, the developers said the music wasn't copyrighted so you could feature it without issue. :)
Oh! Cool~
Though I know sometimes people don't like music playing in the background anyway ha, I could do a poll. But still good to know. They may be using copyright free
@@SimmerErin rightio... update from PL team: "We're happy if UA-camrs use our audio for their video covering the game if they think it will improve their content. They don't specifically need to tag us but like if it's to discuss or promote Paralives, it's all good, they can use the audio."
So you shouldn't get strikes, muted or anything because you are using the audio from our released segments.
They will eventually be copyrighting the music but won't be "enforcing" it on youtube. Hope this helps. :)
@@kazz3309 Thanks!!!
I actually prefer sliders to dragging! I think that, at least comparing Sims 3 and Sims 4, sliders have more versatility and are far less dependant on presets to make a diverse array of Sims
I'm guessing that Paralives will have at least as many sliders as Sims 3 did for facial features, and it already seems to have more body sliders, so I think this is good!
I don't know if you know about Sims 2 bodyshop, but THAT was the real deal! Got my laptop back then close to exploding but you could make very detailed Sims.
It looks like they have a lot for the body, so I am guessing so. I think it'll be pretty good
Definitely having numbers and the sliders is awesome to have more control over little details that can make the difference between paras
yes! I love the little details they're putting into the Paramaker
amazing video erin
Honestly I don't care whether it's pulling or sliding unfortunately a 'certain company' has a patent on sliding
I like the slide and grid system. I am so used to it by now (I played the sims 3 and gotten used to how it functioned.) I’m glad they decided to change it-it makes it their own. Personally I’ll get the game whenever it releases.
I really love that slider system a lot.
It reminded me of the sims3🥺😩!! I really can’t wait for this game
This is great! Having numbers is fantastic
Yeah! Makes it easier to replicate features
way better maker than TS4, have numbers, they show clearly what you can change and looks modble.
I'm quite good with the graphics as they are now. And I am very impressed with how much you can customize on the parafolk.
me too! It's more than I expected
I love that they have the number there as someone who tends to go back and create parents or sibling or grandparents for my sims and likes to match features. I wish they could've included click and pull as well too alternate between but I think this will turn out pretty well.
Ahh you're right that would be handy
Push pull is patented by EA and it forbid Paralives to use it.
It’s probably gonna be rated T but I know the modders will give us the “adult” versions. I hope Turbodriver can do Sims 5.
A T rating means no mature content but my hope is it's more Sims 2 range vs Sims 4
@@SimmerErin oh ok I guess I didn’t catch that it’s already been rated thanks
Wow you were so fast! I saw the video just now and oh boy am I excited by it! It seems easy enough to understand what everything does. That being said, the music is a bit too reminiscent of another game's music so I hope they try out something different in that department. I don't dislike it, I just think piano and the mode is a bit too similar. The new graphics are growing on me though 😊
The music is very calming, which I like. But I think some of it may be placeholder music, as they have discussed working on a soundtrack . Not sure
Now this explains the delay on new content and why they have been working on Paramaker this last year as they were forced to completely redo it. Looks good seems very easy to use and lets you see exactly the changes you are doing with the numbers.
It does-- it looks like they worked very hard on it and thought a lot about user interaction
I like the pencil effect on bodies
I am very excited! This is quite similar to Sims 2 and 3 which iis pretty welcoming. I love the artstyle that reminds me of a storybook illustrations.
Yeah it looks very customizable
I don't understand how EA's patent thing was passed. I think other games used push and pull creater way before EA. I remeber some Korean games did.
I have no idea either. I didn't think you could put a patent on something like that
Good video Erin ❤
Thank you; hope you're well
I’m interested in why they don’t use sliders anymore when they did before with Maggie and why did they change it?
They said they’re not researched about the patent from ‘certain company’ when they developed paramaker with push and pull, so they just made it from scratch and use sliders diagram tools to change it
@@MaxxieJ_ sliders have been used before a ‘certain company’ 😂 so honestly with such a basic implementation they should be able to still use it. I hope 🤞 in the future they will change but I’m fine with it anyhow.
@@DreamtubeCAM patent means that the company essentially owns it. So, 'the certain company' won't allow anyone to use it. Its basically copyrighted.
@@candyqueencandyqueen2689 Yes I know but my point that I’m pretty sure slider have been used on other body feature so I’m not sure that they should have a patent for it.
@@DreamtubeCAM That company has a patent on pushing/pulling directly onto the character. Every other company uses sliders.
Oh yeah i wonder if Paralives is going to have pre-made homes that you can buy or if you will have to build a home because i'm not the best at home building irl or in the sims plus i'm kinda lazy & don't really want to build a home & if i remember correctly The Sims 4 is that way i haven't really played the sims 4 in really long time now
I think so. They already showcased two places-- the build and Maggie's loft. There will also be a gallery to upload player creations
I actually like this system way more than sims 4. I always forget where on the face I'm able to manipulate what and how and where exactly I need to click to have what affect. This system looks like a perfect comprimise.
Yeah I see how it could be more intuitive
Is it just me, or did he look like Mortimer Goth at first? :P
I'm excited for sliders, sometimes it can be a pain to find just the exact right spot to click in the Sims 4, or other games that have you clicking directly on the model. The graphics I'm holding off commenting on until it's at a minimum in an Alpha state.
ha now I can't unsee it.
Someone mentioned that the push and pull system is patented, so they can't use it.
I'm cool with both
Fair enough with me, just gone back to the old days of sliders, as longs that we get better gameplay I'm not bothered!
same
I like that better than the sims 4 create a sim.
Simmer Erin,
Well they will need to add something regarding traits, since their appearance won’t be the only thing
They will, it's just they aren't on that stage of development
First❤Hii
Hello! Hope you're having a great day. Didn't expect this video ha
But on the positive side, the sliders look better and more intuitive than the ones in Sims 2, so there's at least that.
everyone is saying EA has a patent on that feature which is wild to me
@@SimmerErin Ugh, another example of copy right laws gone mad :-/
Go make a competitor then since you want better graphics and game. Always complain but never do anything.
@@morgana4542 go help the parateam then
It's great, very complete and user friendly.
Pull and grab is not my cup of tea and these sliders offer more customization than TS3 (sorry for the comparison).
No worries. I feel it's pretty hard not to bring up Sims 3 and 4 in this case ha we are mostly all thinking it. I'm cool with this
The cartoony art style is really what turns me off, and it’s not inherently because of the art style, but because it sort of forces you to do a certain thing rather than your own thing. It’s not as versatile to all users; it’s very niche. Even with CC, with that big outline around your character, you won’t be able to make realistic Paras…
And that’s what I prefer: customization.
And I will probably will be getting the game anyway when it releases as the build mode already makes it worth it lol
Even though I am a CAS person, I do enjoy building a lot, too. I’m hopeful for the project!
@@ayaneagano6059 From what I read the outline is optional, you'll be able to turn it off.

They definitely will be keeping a stylized 2D look. I don't think it's at the final design as of now, but I know they don't plan on realistic graphics.
@@SimmerErin that’s a shame
@@ayaneagano6059 That’s exactly how I feel when I looked at that character I really didn’t like the black line around the body it just puts me off I will really want something more realistic
Did anyone else notice that the Para in the sliders video has a bit of a bulge in their underpants? I appreciate that the team isn’t afraid of showing this little (no pun intended) detail in lieu of a Ken doll body for masculine presenting Paras.
Ha I did. They are adding subtle little details in many ways
It looks like an acupuncture map
ha yes a little bit
My only issue with the new parafolks is the black outline on them, it just doesn't look great to me. Not bad enough for me to not play but it is jarring imo. It looked a lot better when it wasn't there.
I get that. It's hard to say if it will stay that way or not
no one angry that BeeBae literally copyrighted dragging on the model? no one angry? WHY IS THAT LEGAL
? what happened?
@@SimmerErin EA copyrighting the dragging at the face. how is that legal. how.
I wish the team at paralives good luck, but this is where I dip out.
