Hi Eeco, about 5 years ago I stumbled across your blues in G youtube clip. 1 month later I bought a piano and have cracked on ever since. You have no idea the impact your playing has on me. With this current clip I can get a full appreciation of your highly stylised Blues piano techniques. Thank you for sharing this with everyone. You are a true ambassador to Blues Piano music.

Thank you. My hand span on piano is 1 octave max with the biggest stretch but the good thing is we can always simplify things and when done well no one will really notice that. Simplify or... modify!

Oh man ! I've got small hands ! I already have a good stretch with my right hand - where I'm able to stretch from a low Bb with my thumb to G with my index finger, and C with my pinky (in the key of C).
However, I just can't reach another note - my thumb and pink are as parallel straight line as they are ever going to be. Can do same stretch on my left hand but not the octave and a further two white notes (to the maj 3rd). Need to take some growth hormone or something !!

I hear ya snake. It's difficult to manage chords with a short reach. I do sometimes excercises with my hands to keep them flexible. I hope my video's are good enough to help you out though. :)

nice video...would be even more nice with the note-names written above the keyboard. It takes ages to remember which notes you are playing

    Eeco,
Your opening stride chord reminds me: Beethoven said that a woman's breast should be "the size of an honest man's hand." Liszt's hands just naturally fell on a thirteenth, and this story was told me by a Liszt fan, a soprano who wears a 44-GG bra.

Ninths are pretty well the max for my hand size. The intro lick is totally impossible for me if I try to transpose it to some keys.

To expect folks to start out playing 10ths when 2/3rds of the population don't have the reach is kind of humorous.
