      I tried to buy this one 20 years ago after Bernie passed. The truck came back to me at exactly the wrong time (financially) but I knew if we hadn't saved the old piece then I would have regretted it for the rest of my life: Thanks for watching!

    That's the best one yet! Shame they bent the frame but you should be able to straighten it. Thanks for saving it, they're just fun to look at.

    O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Happy New Year…2024. I haven’t seen too many Studebaker trucks around these parts. They were quite cool looking trucks! He did a good job on the frame & installing the frame bumpers on the rear. I own a 51 REO wrecker that my dad bought new. I’ve driven a 56 GMC military dump as well that we owned for several years. What a truck! You sure have a good selection of nice old military trucks! Enjoy your nice old Studebaker! Blessings my friend.🤩😎✌️

      @@AlaskaTrucker 🇺🇸 I’m with you on that one. It might make you happier people working with your hands & accomplishing things. I’ve always loved building things & watching them come back to life. Great rewards in that. Waiting to see more. 🥰😎✌️

    A great save... sometimes wonder if those old drill machines are any part of them of use in some way other than stare at them. I do hope that as you and I do take the "final walk in life" someone still cares enough to store and possibly start/move them about. That engine in the truck I do believe was the same one used in a cletrac dozer my dad had and I ran up until the sixties. Dad was a hobby logger to make enough money to go mining again, I would push loads of rock off of a ramp into the bed on one of the old gmc or Studebaker trucks. I peeled my thumb back to along side my wrist when the steering wheel got away from me an I had my thumb on the inside of those spoke steering wheels. I was about eleven or twelve at the time... my dad was a man who if you cried, he would poke fun of you forever and that was not a good thing as I loved my job. I just sucked it up till my arm and hand was so swollen that I was no longer good for anything... he gave me a razor over my backside for not telling him! I also peeled a toe nail up so he grabbed it with the plyers and jerked it off. I remember stiffening tears an he said "atta boy" so wrapped my foot and kept working. I am so darn curious as to the breed of your dog... mine looks exactly like him... rescue from the pound. He is the very kindest dog I have ever owned, got him and they said he is about eight or nine... that was about three years ago, but no knowledge of his breed... maybe pit yet I just know he is not as the jaw is not pit nor the nose really. He loves everyone no matter who... yet a young guy staggering from too many "wobble pops" fell towards me and it looked to "Rex" that he was going to hit me so he grabbed the mans arm and knocked him to the ground an looked at me like as if maybe he was in trouble. I gave him treats instead. Sure would enjoy knowing if he is just heinz 57 or some real breed of his own as I see others close to same. Hope life is good, an all is well with you and the family

    Hey, great trucks, great video, I’ve got an opportunity to save an old 6x6 Studebaker and was wondering if there was any practical use They can still be put to. Don’t know much about trucks, but I love these things. Cheers from Australia

    A tune :
    I got valves

    As I go ridin' merrily along,
    And Ii say, now ain't ya glad
    You're single,
    Cuz that Stude
    Sure nuff would be gone.
    (Apologies to Gene Autrey)

    Honestly, what did those idiots do to the chassis? How is that even possible?

    • @AlaskaTrucker
      @AlaskaTrucker  Рік тому

      When the truck had the drill rig, it sat for so long that the truck sank up to the axles. The old Speedstar drill rigs were heavy and the scrappers hooked onto the truck with a 966 Cat loader and bent the frame. I remember the old man that had owned this truck, Bernie Hopp, and I remember when this truck was road worthy, back in the early 80s. Bernie was a WWII Veteran and he's been gone a long time now. Thanks for watching!
