Nobody can based on a youtube video say the sound of a music box is good, very good or marvelous. There are to many thinks between the original Sound and the speakers of the youtube watcher.
I don't know how much these speakers cost, but let me tell you something: the fact they make my Microlab B77s (~$60 @ local shop) sound like they're worth $1000 is priceless to me.
I have the vintage SP100 and they seem more of a natural dynamic speaker...but then again I'm not there to hear it play and listen to my tracks...mid range not as dynamic for sure...I prefer the vintage Spendors much better...and for the cost of these I think the tweeters could be much better as well as the driver cone material (from the looks)...
I wish Spendor puts metal mesh protector for the tweeters on Classic Series. Harbeth, Monitor Audio, and even Spendor A Series have tweeter protectors.
Wow! Some recordings sounds almost feeling like live. In the artists studio room. Right there. Almost like touching them from there breath of the microphones. Instruments are clear.
Love the channel ! I buy alot of gear for my channel but not on this level man you got it going on i would be in hifi heaven ! 😆 I know you have alot of speakers but love to see the Polk Lsim 703s or 707s on your channel for the price dang in my 33 years of being an audiophile i never gotten a better deal new on speakers
There is some effortlessness to the bass that I only have ever heard from large woofers like these 30 cm drivers. Has anybody got an example of a loudspeaker with significantly smaller woofers that is also able to present such a beautiful bass?
Nice combo, the Spendies and Leben; could use a bit more bass control but I like that Gun-gee" sound and wouldn't want to lose the sweet midrange - Sandy The Ancient Boston Audiophile
Spendor>Harbeth...I think Graham is great too. Anything BBC is typically good. Derek Hughes designed the SP100 had his hand in the 40.1/2 which is a derivative of the BC3 and the new Graham stuff is awesome too
@@locmanw1583 the Harbeth have a slightly more natural midrange but are a tad less dynamic. I mean slightly. Please note I never heard them side by side with the same gear. Personally the Spendors are more fun for me...
@@locmanw1583 yes the Spendors have a very natural midrange. Extremely natural. Once again not the same gear or room. My amp is a bit warmer and darker than neutral so when I heard the Harbeths they were more neutral, dry and perhaps slightly more natural sounding in voices and spoken word. The spendors where however more musical more enjoyable for me. Sweeter... I hope that makes sense.
I am keep looking those for about six years right now and i have read everything about them and every review possible, magazines and idividual users, that to my opinion, are more distant and remote of the knowing "preassures" of today's market. Now, everyone, wants to demonstrate that is someone very unique and plays this kind of music, or soft jazz, or similar that almost every speaker can do real well...Why you don't play something more "bity" like rock or even pop to see the real thing? Is it because they are not oriented to this music or they do best with the video 's one? It suposed that a good loudspeaker "plays" everything. At the end, are we "obsesed" by the so nice retro appearance and the nostalgia era of the 70s a d 80s ? These are some of thoughts that need to be considered by someone that is going to "pull the triger" for about 8 to 9 grant (000)...
I owned a pair of these about 10 years ago, I kick myself every day for selling them. They are very forgiving speakers, will make SS/tube/hybrid all sound excellent.
Can you "demo" the song "driver s seat" of snif in the tears, so we can have some other type of taste too and upload in youtube of course ? Thank you..
I bought those and if i had to chose again i would 100% buy those again. Those are trully amazing sounding.Pair them right ad you will never look for other speakers.Rooms like 30square meters those are perfect.
I'm not into feeling the bass in any headphones. I find that they're not clear. Yes. You can definitely feel the bass in a closed back headphones. But at a cost of clarity. I love to hear the lower bass notes in an open headphones. I'm just guessing for me that I maybe like the openness of an electrostatic speakers. Airy. Not in your face bass. You can maybe hear the low sub notes in an open back headphones if the recordings is done right. Also there is something about hearing the mid range in an open back headphones that sometimes I find it sounds like your right there in the recording of the room that you cannot get from a closed back headphones. I love clarity. There is always a trade off sadly. Open back headphones can leak out so people close by in a room can hear the music that they might not like. Trebles can be sweet too. Closed back headphones are more for dj. But I should not be generalizing that. That's bad. Never heard a closed back headphones reproduce clarity in a well recorded recording when done right.
Upgrading the headphones from a close back to an open one will might definitely make this video from my pc sound better. A reproduction of only a fact similarly what the total sound of the audio equipment and speakers sound like. Sigh. Plus all that would blow my budget anyway of the pc and headphones.
