The debut album from this mysterious British group has a very fresh and energetic sound, but it's one that becomes a bit stale by the end of the album. While this will make any one track sound impressive on its own, the songs dilute each other and the magic wears thin about halfway through. Still a decent album for the style and musicianship, but the songwriting and production get tiresome.
Verdict: Recommended if you feel like you need to keep up with the obscure indie scene. Otherwise, it's probably passable.

@begalthegreat As we said, the tracks can stand on their own very well. However we don't review individual tracks so our big criticism came from the lack of variety displayed on the full album listen. Thanks for the comment!

@AutoSuggestions Good point-- it really depends on the way they pull it off. One thing I actually appreciate about most punk music is that they have the tact to keep the track lengths short so things don't even have time to get repetitive within one song. For me, that makes it a lot better. What's frustrating is when 4 or 5 minute songs use the same structure, because they have wiggle room to make things different. When a song is only 2 minutes long, how much can you really do with it anyway?

I'd have to say this is an album that you have to listen to a few times to "get it". Lots of great tracks including Concrete Gold, L Y F, We Bros, Spitting Blood and Dirt. Give it another listen guys!

i don't think america understands wu lyf. All the american reviews of the album i have seen say that its really nothing special, but all the uk reviews say its brillant.
    I agree with uk reviews.

@MrSplatterPlatter I sort of disagree with you guys, i haven't listen to the whole album but from the individual tracks I'm hearing the sound pretty nice. Sure they may be forgotten in a couple of years because I don't see any stand out qualities of them but the have a nice sound with the lead vocalist sounding like a mix between the Issac Brock and the guy from Future Island.

While I listened to the record it was great, but then once it was over I couldn't care less about the music. There's no specific track that stands out, so it all just turned to one giant mess of reverb. Sounds great while listening, but nothing special.

How are you guys on punk music, since you're so against repeated song structures?
