How to Debarb a Fishing Hook ( Debarbing a Fishing Hook ) Life in France at the House with a Lake

How to debarb a fishing hook is shown in this fishing video all part of life in France at the house with a lake.
If you wish to do less harm to the fish you catch because you enjoy catch-and-release fishing then debarbing a fishing hook is essential.
The other element of my fishing in France is that I have two young boys that like to fish and for safety for them barbless hooks are always better for children to use and be around.
I bought a barbed spinner the other day and fished straight out of the bag, caught two fish but I could not get the hooks out because they were barbed and therefore had to kill the fish humanly to prevent suffering.
So for me the question of barbless hooks vs barbed - barbless hooks are for me 100% as they are better for catch and release and particularly better around children.
The other advantage of using a barbless single spinner over a 3 hook spinner with barbs is if you cast into trees, the single barbless hooks pull straight out where as 8 times out of 10 your lose your barbed spinner in the tree.
You can see at the end of this video I fished for an hour and had 4 takes to catch 4 fish on the barbless spinner that I had changed, so being barbless did not affect the catch rate at all, and the benefit was all fish were returned to the lake unharmed!
I had not fished for years using spinners and before it was sea fishing and I always eat what I catch, now at home in France at the house with a lake, I'm caching freshwater predator fish that I wish to return alive to the lakes.
So it was a case of getting my leatherman out to remove the barb on one hook and snip away the other 2 hooks as I felt I only needed one hook.
So in this fishing video, I show you how to debarb a fishing hook and how to alter a spinner from 3 barbed hooks down to one single barbless hook to enable me to return all the fish caught without harm.
