It sure is, takes no time at all to use, compared to the old method of swinging a DTI. Thanks for the view. Regards.

This is a job I hate doing. My mill is a very simple Mini Mill with the head only moving from side to side. Although I never move it I do check the tramming often, same as I do the mill vice. Great videos David. Cheers Nobby

Something to add to your Christmas or Birthday list. Sorry that Lidl or Aldi will not sell them 😊 Regards.

That's an interesting tool. I've seen them used of various UA-cam channels. I've never used one but I can't see much advantage to it. Guess I'll be sticking to the good old single indicator sweep. 😊 Good job on the demo. Tc, Mike

Hi Mike, the advantage to this is that the error reading is instant, you can immediately see if the head is better or worse. With the old method you adjust, then have to swing the DTI 180 degrees, hoping on the way that you have not knocked the stylus going over the tee slots. With this an easy 5 minutes to adjust, as you well know the old method can take an absolute age, especially on a BP with the geared adjustment bolt. Thanks for watching. Regards.

Good morning Dave. The products made by Edge Technology do look to be very well engineered and no doubt are a boon to effecting a quick and precise tram. Thank you for sharing. 👏👏👍😀

Hello Andrew, yes they are top notch in quality, nice anodised aluminium parts. If you shop around you can sometimes find them on offer. I think they make 2 types, Home use and Industrial. Thanks for watching. In one of your videos you speak of Monotype Linotype Machines. My Father worked at the Factory in England, I have been around the Factory myself several times. Company now gone and site it a lockup type units. Regards.

@@daveticehurst4191 Hi Dave, I will certainly look out for a bargain offer on the Edge Technology product.
I must apologise, I did see your comment on my Monotype video awhile back and I appear to have forgotten to reply. I will do so in detail on that one. I was amazed your father worked at the factory. And yes, there is not much left to see now. I did go there to take a look myself a few years ago.

Nice piece of kit Dave, what was the point of the magnet; a piece of plate glass, a machined parallel or if the table is clean & any dings stoned out would have done just as well.

Hello and thanks for watching and your excellent question. Yes you are quite correct, use it directly on the table or use a parallel. The only disadvantage by not using the magnet and going directly onto the table is that after setting the first indicator , you would need to manually lift both plungers whilst rotating it 180 degrees. The reason being is that the pitch of both indicators is wider than the tee slots, so unless you did that they would want to drop into the slot. By using the magnet the second plunger would still clear the table, you just need to lift it to place it on top of the magnet. I just used the magnet that is supplied in the kit as it was a demonstration on how to use it and thought better show it all as supplied. Best Wishes.

Interesting device. That said I've only trammed my mill once and it has stayed trammed.

Hi Dave, what is considered a good number for tram? Your vid mentions .002” in the middle of the table, is that a good number? I’ve been striving for less than .001”.

Hi Stuart, thanks for watching, ideally a thou or less would be nice in the ideal World, but in practice it is often hard to achieve. I got the reading of 4 because I had the table wound to its limit. There was so much overhang on the other end with my 2 vices fitted that the slack in the knee came into play. That was why when I wound it back to the center the slack was evened out a bit to 2 thou. I was going to adjust it, but it meant getting out my torque wrench as the head bolts have been set to Factory specs and my standard 3/4" ring spanner would not shift them. Lazy I know, but I had been videoing all day yesterday and today and needed to edit and upload. Take care. Regards.
