not merely a wildman on stage or screaming guitarist, he composed haunting melodies that put you into another world.
The Wind Cries Mary, Angel, Pali Gap, and of course Little Wing, undoubtedly his most covered song!
Dylan wrote this one.
@@leonardshevlin7260 I'm pretty sure he meant guitar melodies in the case of this song
"Little Wing". Hauntingly beautiful....
@@leonardshevlin7260 of for sure but this is probably one of if not the best cover songs of all time the melodic additions he added are insane
This song actually is a cover of a Bob Dylan song but Jimi did it so great he basically took over the song. Now the Stevie Ray reaction you did of Voodoo Child was actually his cover of Jimi Hendrix' song. You should listen to Jimi's original version of Voodoo Child, it is classic.
SRV also covered Jimi's song Little Wing. Different interpretations, IMO both great.
Im glad i scrolled thru the comments first cause i was about to say the same thing only adding that stevie ray was great but... Jimi was beyond high level and i think jimi's cover of this IS the way its supposed to be played and no one can play a jimi song Better than jimi....from this album "Electric Lady Land"(thats the cover pic behind you) if you wanna hear jimi going otherworldly.. The song "1983 a merman i shall turn to be"
Is an epic journey.. Please wear headphones for jimi and pink floyd..so many layers and superb production .you just are missing so much. Cant tell maybe you got buds in?? Hope so.
Great jammin with ya. Happy to see another soul getting lit by these greats..Zep,Floyd,hendrix...
Keep it up..
My pic for Pink Floyd?? Id say "Dogs" from the album "Animals"
Zeppelin.. my suggestion would be?? 1973 Madison square garden concert that became a concert/movie "the song remains the same" released in 76
Title track montage. You can find it under heading "the song remains/rain song" or anything grom the show..its zep live at their peak..
Btw.. You probably got this already but.. If u havnt. So you heard comfortably numb studio . the 1994 Pulse live version will blow your mind and the 2nd solo is extended and David Gilmour just wails for about 4 minutes of flawlessness.plus you will see how they put on the best light show experience..even if u dont do a reaction man do your soul a favor and hear that solo..
If you want to hear voodoo chile performed at its utmost check out the blues version off electric ladyland
@@jasonuvartfeather369 Awesome recommendations
"It's Jimi's song, I just wrote it"-- BD
Jimi is the man.
@Eschew Obfuscation he is da man
In my opinion, the greatest cover of all time.
Easily
Pure gold.....every note.
Oh hell by far! I can't think of another cover as good as this
Could be.
@@PastorOfMuppets74
Joe Cocker, 'With a Little Help From My Friends'.
CCR, 'Heard it Through the Grape vine'.
Before Jimi...no one ever heard a guitar sound like that before..ever !...He was a major influence and pioneer in rock and roll ..
Jimi really admired Bob Dylan's songwriting, and Bob was really pleased with Jimi covering this song.
JImi also played bass on this song. If you pay attention, you'll realize how killer his bass playing is as well.
That bass outro modal line is just lethal
I don’t think you’re accurate with Jimi playing bass here, his OG bassist left during recording but I’m pretty sure he picked up another dude from a big band back then to finish it. I could be wrong but I hope someone looks it up for us ahahahah either way bob loved Jimis version so much it’s the only way he plays it now lol
@@Liltostitoby all accounts jimi did actually play the bass in this song. this is one of those songs where the artist just had a clear auditory picture of how he wanted a song to sound and he created a master piece with so many nuances that are genuinely magical.
That’s only scratching the surface bruh SVR was a student. Jimi the scholar.
Nah man you got it all wrong
SRV was also highly influenced by Albert King, you can't listen to SRV and not hear it...it's obvious.
@A Rodriguez He played a Flying V left handed, strung upside down, backwards and tuned to a minor key. One of my all time fave solos is Personal Manager. Killer tone too.
Jimi Hendrix is the greatest and no one comes even close.
Frank zappa
The man wasn’t yet 28 yrs old when he left the world. It makes me sad to think about the brilliance we haven’t gotten to experience over the past 50 years.
Stevie Ray Vaughn
@@michaeltaylor8835 I saw Stevie perform on many occasions and he was great but Jimi was an innovator and his creativity was on another level. All you have to do is listen to guitarist before Hendrix and listen to guitarist after he came on to the scene to see what a huge influence he was. I'll always see comments on how Stevie did " Voodoo Child" better than Jimi did. Well maybe he did but he had been practicing it since he was a teen. Jimi came up so much music in a few short years he was always moving on and creating new music. Even though he did perform " Voodoo Child " live he didn't spend years n years working on it.
SRV comes plenty close....PLENTY CLOSE.
Have loved him since I was 10 now 64 still love him. This is my fav🙂👍✌❤❤
Jimi live at The Monterey Pop Festival is total fire - literally.
I was there - it was awesome!
@@u4riahsc You suck! 😁
Jimi Hendrix is the Goat of guitar
Other people play the guitar. Jimi WAS the guitar.
Greatest guitarist the world has ever seen
I was lucky enough to see him 54 years ago.I remember every second as if it was yesterday. Jimi Hendrix,.The coolest Cat that ever lived. 9 -4x 12 marshall cabinets with 3x 200watt amps into a single lead, turned flat out. The Guy's a Legend !
The man's guitar playing will bring you to tears and the whole band are in complete sync. Shit is dope!
I like this dude.... He gets blown away by Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles like I do! My fave solo artist and my favorite band !
If it wasn't for Jimi, there wouldn't have been a Stevie Ray Vaughn. I'm not comparing because they're both great, but Jimi shook the music world to its roots.
FOR SURE!
Bold statement.
This is not an overstatement. Jimi inspired multiple generations of guitarists, just like Picasso inspired generation after generation of artists after him.
Well said. And true. In so many ways that people don’t even realize.
Seeing jimi in person was great!! Never been anyone like him, still miss him.
Wow you're really lucky!
Great reaction. Jimi was amazing. Check him out at Woodstock playing the stars spangled banner
That was truly an epic piece of musical history, the sounds he got out of his axe.
Hendrix was the coolest!!!!!! You say "cool"and I will immediately think of Jimi. One of the true greats!!!
A legend. Nobody else like him.
When you listen to The Watchtower just listen to all the guitar playing styles that Jimi incorporates into the song. Astonishing. I saw Jimi perform on multiple occasions in the day. You can take it from me that he was and still is GUITAR GOD. Nobody, and I mean nobody, has so far come up to the plate to do what Jimi did in the day. Prince, SRV, and all the rest were simply disciples repeating what Jimi had done years before. Jimi was light years ahead. When Jimi died I wept. The greatest loss to music of a generation.
My favorite Hendrix song. He may play more amazingly on other songs, but this is so accessible. Other works go over my head, but I get this
My dad turned me on to Hendrix went out and got it on 8-track lol still jam today🇺🇸
Electric Ladyland album is 🔥🔥🔥
He was a blues guy just like all he flower children. God rest his lovely soul.
Jimi had many “styles”. Check out the “Electric Ladyland”, double-album: “Crosstown Traffic”, “Burning of the Midnight Lamp”, “House Burnin’ Down”, “Voodoo Chile ( slight return)”, “...and the Gods Made Love”, “Still Rainin’, Stil Dreamin’”, “Come On”, “Gypsy Eyes”, “Rainy Day, Dream Away”, “Have You Ever Been (to Electric Ladyland)”, “Voodoo Child” live in studio - one take!, and more.
Jimi Hendrix famously hated the sound of his own voice when he sang but I think he had a brilliant singing voice
Jimi needs to be watched as well as listened to ,try purple haze ,live Atlanta,or hey joe live monterey please
You owe it to yourself to watch Jimi live❤️
Jimi is#1! He has so many great, epic songs. More Jimi
What’s so dynamic about Jimi here is he’s playing lead, and rhythm, all while singing!🎸
Jimi is a legend for a reason!
Congratulations you just listened to one of the best recordings ever released anywhere! Even Bob Dylan loved Hendrix's cover of his song so much he actually changed the way he performed it! I've often said if I had to pick one song as my all time favorite it would be this !
How did I miss this? He is amazing!
Only way to experience jimi is his live performances. He had that charisma & raw sexuality that ya just couldn't take yet eyes off him and he was one fine brother R.I.P. Jimi. 💟☝️
You got it man, here is the man and he's doing the stuff...he's got it all..Jimi going strong..
When he got to england Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and co couldn't believe what they were seeing. Have a listen to Cream - "White Room" for some early Clapton. Well worth the earspace
There's a great Cream Reunion Concert from 2005 at the Albert Hall - full video on UA-cam. Surprise was Jack Bruce playing a 4 string Bass rather than his 6 string, and Ginger Baker has somehow managed to improve as a Drummer, after years of Drumming with Drummers in Africa. Toad was something else. 👍
Jimi was The Prophet and SRV was one of his disciples.
Totally!
Enough too understand that all the guitarists of his time were awed by him. Everyone guitarist who came after him is influenced by his playing. When you say you like Stevie Ray, his playing was influenced HEAVILY by Jimi. Remember -- this was 50 years ago!
Some of the famous bands and people he played with are the Isley Brothers, Little Richard, Ray Charles, and Wilson Pickett, to name a few.
I'm glad that you're hearing this now, because better late than never, right?
Jimi was the 1st..SON..they tried to copy HIM..voted by his peers and ROLLING STONE magazine as the GREATEST GUITARIST EVER
I loved watching this! Your comments rock.
Jimi! God blessed child he is.
Jimi was that Mt. Olympus ... he broke the mold and stretch the bounds of what a guitar can sound like ... even though Bob Dylan wrote it he said something like I didn't know at the time but I wrote it for you/Jimi ... and that is the highest nod by a master in his own right who actually wrote the song! as for SRV he covered and emulated Jimi on guitar and not the other way around ... in other words school don't get schooled!
Jimi is absolutely the GOAT!
Jimi is the best a real down to earth person great guitar playing
Best version of this song. Every note Jimi played was......is gold. Speaks through his guitar on this one. It cannot be beat. No other human can top it.
Theres no one like Jimi!!!! Jimi's voice, his grove, he is just soo smooth!!! Tripping music!!!👌👍✌😁
Hands Down some of the finest guitar work you’ll ever hear but you must roll up and then re listen to it you’ll find yourself in another dimension and time
Ion wanna be that dude but Your idol Stevie ray Vaughan was Inspired by Jimi not the other way around no pun intended
Jimi died when I was in Jr. High school. He was ahead of his time in guitar playing skills. He was the best and we rockers still listen to him religiously. He was a cool laid back amazing dude.❤❤❤❤
One of my all time favs🥰
"I never listened to Jimi Hendrix !" /// "Not for nothing - but that's like never going to the bathroom !!!"
Jimi was a sonic acid trip....
That's right bro, So Smooth.
He's a legend!!!!
Hendrix is a true GOAT.
Jimi is the GOAT. Mellow out, turn out the lights and listen to the whole album, "Electric Ladyland". It's spectacular.
Jimi was, no doubt, the GOAT!
Jimi Come back !!!
Imagine how radical this was when it came out
I loved this reaction bro. One of my favorite Jimi Hendrix songs is Purple Haze, you have to listen to it! And listen to the official audio version, that’s my favorite one!
Saw him at Woodstock. Unbelievable.
Best Bob Dylan cover ever... those Powerful lyrics with a killer guitar ✌
Thiz song blew people away when it came out
'Outside in the cold distance
a wildcat did growl'
Ed S needs to receive punishment for sheer audacity of touching this song.
When you see him live playing guitar with his teeth or behind his back, you KNOW you saw something special.
Jimi did it before Stevie Ray was grown. And he did it all in four years ☮️♥️🤘🏽🔥
LITTLE WING Jimi Hendrix LIVE
can't wait to see your reaction -- cuz it's on! (or it was)
Jimi passed in 1970 and SRV did not arrive on the scene until 1978 w/ his band "Double Trouble until 1978!
For the true fire of Jimi, I suggest "House Burning Down" from this same album...
DEADASS PHEW THE INTRO SOLO TO “House burning down” is retarded bro Gotta check it out I second this
Whole " Electric Ladyland " album is brilliant !
Yes been waiting so long for House Burning Down to be reacted to. 🎼
Jimi was one of the guitarists who inspired me to start learning to play guitar 47 years ago .....One of the first albums I ever owned was Jimi Hendrix Smash Hits which was given to me for my tenth birthday ......his music still inspires me till this day and it always will
He played alright handed guitar left handed. He was a paratrooper in Vietnam . He came back , went to England & became a superstar. Brian May, Freddie Mercury & many more loved him. Mick Jagger & Steven Tyler still use his style of singing, dancing & dressing.
Hold your horses. Jimi never went to Vietnam. He was a terrible soldier who hated the army. He left the army, played as a backing artist for many people, including Little Richard and the Isley brothers. He then went to New York, was often fired for being too loud and freaky. He was discovered by Linda Keith, who was Keith Richard's then girlfriend. She persuaded Chas Chandler to come and watch him play. He signed Jimi and took him to England.
A very huge portion of what we today call "Popular Culture" is influenced by African American culture. Blues, Jazz, Rock, RnB, Rap.. they all had their African American Roots, and we still remember really big names like Buddy Guy, BB King, Jimi Hendrix, and many many more. And they all had it rooted in their African spirits... If you go to Mali, or Ughanda, or Senigal, and you have a little bit of musical knowledge, you'll hear women singing the pentatonic scale, you'll hear them singing jazz, though they've probably never heard of it.
We, the world, and especially musicians, owe a great gratitudeto African Americans and their culture that they gave us that beautiful Music.
Biographics did a video on hendrix and he always gives like a tag or nickname about a person he goes over and he gave hendrix a VERY fitting name
An Electric Alchemist
Got to give credit to Dave Mason who plays the 12 string guitar on this track!!
Killing floor ,voo doo child,u can't go wrong with jimmi dawg! Lol he's amazing live
If you haven't reacted to House of The Rising Sun by The Animals you should. It's an awesome song, you should watch the music video of them playing. The funny thing is the bassist in that band was Chas Chandler. Chas is famous for discovering Jimi Hendrix when he was playing in New York. He loved Jimi so much he paid out of his own pocket for Jimi to come to London and gave him the money he needed to get started. He also introduced him to everyone he knew including Eric Clapton. Chas found found a God and shared him with the rest of us.
ua-cam.com/video/UrsvXM0Z0jY/v-deo.html here it is champ. Thats wild
Jimmy Hendrix is the truth and the way
This is a cover of a Bob Dylan song.
When Bob heard Jimi hendrix's version, he said something to the effect of " this is how I envisioned the song but I don't play guitar that well.".
Jimi Hendrix remains the greatest electric guitar artist ever
Awesome coverversion ❤😎🎸🎸👌✌
Hey Joe, Purple Haze are some other great songs before my time in the 60s
(RIP Jimi Hendrix ) his music so incredible ..you should watch him on videos playing live 🥰
The ending of the song is the best part
You must see the clip of Jimi at Monnteray pop. He plays with his teeth he plays with the guitar behind his back on Hey Joe You must see him action brother
Thank you for reacting to the greatest electrical guitarist of all time.
Little Wing is my favorite. Many artists, including Stevie Ray Vaughan have covered it and done it justice but you must listen to Jimi's!
Stone free, highway Chile, axis bold as love, castles made of sand, many more far out groovy tunes 🧐🇬🇧✌️
One of my favorite tunes of all time.
I saw Bob Dylan at Drillers Stadium in Tulsa in 05. They played closer to the Hendrix version than the original.
stevie ray got his inspiration from Jimi.
------------------------------------------------
Rosetta Tharp invented RnR.
Chuck Berry gave it its clothes,
Jimi set it on the next level .
Jimi Hendrix wrote one of the best songs ever - Angel. Sadly I haven't been able to find it on UA-cam. There are many, many covers of the song but they use Hendrix's image and make you think it's him when it isn't. If you haven't heard Jimi singing Angel...do it. Ask friends who might have the CD or vinyl or buy it. It's unworldly in it's beauty. Jeff Healy Band did a decent cover. I've got it on vinyl and CD.💖
Jimi Hendrix Experience All Along The Watchtower !!!!
Watch his outdoor concerts. You have to see them. Your jaw will drop
Jimi is the top. There wouldn't be a SRV if it wasn't for Jimi
Check out his first two albums
Red House is a good Blues tune by Jimi. Jimi did a whole Blues album. Remember he was left handed. Put the strings on opposite of everyone else
Stevie Ray and Jimi were both the best, but different.
for sure!
You missed half of the magic of this song by not wearing headphones while you listened.
