And he will be truly missed!! What a master improviser. It takes such absolute commitment and confidence and courage to create a language spontaneously and speak it so convincingly, and to be felt and understood by everyone from the pure beauty and musicality of it. Rest in peace.
Friends this selection is just a scratching of the surface of the riches Clark Terry left us. If I am fortunate to get to heaven I would be thrilled to meet this genius.
I love mixing comedy and Jazz. I call myself a "Sit Down Comedian". Many Master musicians have done it, Louis Armstrong popularized it internationally. Fats Waller was a master of it. But I don't think anyone equaled Clark Terry. His mind was to brilliant, so fast, it was Terryfying. CB Thanks for sharing, Roger Lowe.
You all realize that Clark just played a jazz solo while his horn was upside down. There are trumpet players that wish they could play a solo that good right side up.
Happy 94th CT-- Dec 14, 2014! There was a birthday bash at his home in Arkansas this past weekend. Lots of great music was provided by his friends and former students. Even CT got in on it, scatting for a few bars. Treasured moments that will never be forgotten.
He was truly talented and a showman - I saw him twice in Sag Harbor at the Whalers Church- an amazing venue. It was part of a series that Hal McKusick organized called “jazz in the Harbor” . What an honor to be there! Audio Recording is excellent- not an easy task with all those band members!
dude, I wish i could meet you in person & kiss you for 1st of all preserving & puttin' this fantasticness out for the world to witness. Excellence in action!! Thank you!!
this is brilliant from start to finish the switch to German towards the end just ups the ante one more reminder of how very much awesome music I've never heard of is still out there waiting for me to somehow stumble across it by surprise I got here by touring the variety of different versions of Saint James Infirmary so picking a path to something new+great ain't exactly a matter of strategy
Firstly, I absolutely love what Clark Terry did for art. Secondly, listening to this makes me feel like I’m listening to some lost mythical dialect from one of the conquered civilizations from Lord of the Rings / The Hobbit.
where can I find a lyric sheet for this #? always wondered how Dylan managed to remember all the words to all those long songs during that last folk tour before he went electric? That was nothing compared to this one song. And the last couple minutes in German. I think it unfortunate that Mr. Terry rushes thru this performance in such a hurry Leonard Cohen or Lady Day would have slowed it down enough to hear every word clearly

Jan Leder Clark Terry, fearless, operating in boldness!

God, Mr.Terry played his horn "the other way around", and rapped like "the Swedish Cook/Chef" afterwards!

wouaw !!!!
This is by far my favorite Clark Terry chart. Does anybody know where I can find a big band arrangement of this song?
Oh!!!, it seams my english.
Woody Herman ! Clark played in Doc Severinson’s NBC Orchestra. For YEARS ! Wheres the beef? I’ve heard Clark end the song (Mumbles) with “Watergate”.
Did he played it backwards at 1:33?
I am here because of my music teacher
I couldn't believe what he was saying
Poor old Woody.
where's the beef!!! #LOL
Sounds Like a Politician when they try to explain something they did wrong ROFLMAO
LOL!!!
This is what I hear when my better half throws a fit.
Xam271 LOL👌👌👌👌
hahahaha woo!
Afro-Yiddish?❤❤
The Swedish Chef could actually have made heads and tails of this.
I was thinking the same thing. Clark Terry becoming a Swede right before my eyes. Love it!
You might appreciate _Kurt Schwitters - _*_Ursonate_* (1932).

That would be Woody Herman.

Binaurals02 Some guy named Woody Herman.
He got too political. Unsubbing
Yeah he took it too far when he started talking about the fhalneskau! He even talked about the gogefedks, what a dick
