Brings a tear to my eye: the last time I saw and rode on this magnificent little train was as a kid, 52 years ago, with my long-departed dear mum and dad, when holidaying at All Saints Road guest house in Scarborough.
A great POV Darren, no commentary needed , I was impressed by the trackside condition, so well kept, beautifully manicured greenery, I too was intrigued by the obscuring of the white KIA numberplate ( I presume that's your car ? ) and the blurring of the individual stood by the by carriage at Scalby Mills.
Delightful. Felt like I was on the “choo choo” . Most enjoyable. Very relaxing with the sound of the engine and the horn every now and again. Loved it. Thank you Darren.
I went to Scarborough in 1966 and recall going on the water chute which features as the train leaves the station. My Mum went to see ‘The King and I’m at the open air theatre.
I Really enjoyed that Darren, such a lovely trip along the coastline, makes you think you are really there. Very different to your usual ones but just as good as those.
I really enjoyed watching this video. It brings back so many happy memories of holidays with my Mum and Dad in the 70s and 80s...Especially the tooting of the horn, I used to love waving to everyone from the train. Scalby Mills was very different then before the Sealife Centre was built. There was a massive Astroglide where the car park is. First stop was always the pub which is no longer there...Always a shandy and Tudor cheese and onion crisps for me. My Dad passed away in 2013 his ashes were scattered at Scarborough and I lost my Mum last September so watching your videos especially of Scarborough and Blackpool is helping me relive the happy times 😊
The start of the train ride is so green and lush and then you see the ocean, nice. Along the way in both directions there were round white signs with a black "W" on them to show where the whistle was to be sounded? What a fun place to spend a day.....
Thanks to your previous video we went last week for a ride while on our hols in nearby Brid and we loved it and the staff were great, I spoke to the lady in the shop about your visit and video, thanks again Darren and i like your latest video too from the cab.
I was expecting a steam hauled train after seeing the thumb nail. Not a diesel powered replica locomotive shame, Will definitely give this a go next time we are in Scarborough as I didn't know it was there. Thanks for the video
Now that brought back many memories..... the tunnel always scared me, and the water flume dripped on you as you passed, and I am sure there was a turning circle at Scalby MIlls, not a turntable....
Hello Darren how are you fancstic vidio of the train in Scarborough hope that you are having a great holiday it was very sad about the news of our queen she has been a inspiration to us all take care stay safe xx
Yet to do this but will do over the next couple of weeks. I'm in Bridlington and have a few ideas of where you could do some interesting videos, hit me upnif interested mate
@@AdventureMe if you need someone to hold the camera give me a shout! I'm in the old town which I think would make a great video, a lot of people don't even know there is an old town.
Have they got a proper steam loco at this railway or have I dreamt it? I was thinking they could exchange locos occasionally with the Ratty, but I believe the NBR is bigger. It’s a two foot gauge and the Ratty is 15”.
A great ride! For me, the turntable 'about turn' was the piece de resistance of an amazingly smooth and interesting ride. Well done to all and thank you!
Good video, but a steam loco should be steam powered not sound like a bus! It would also be great if the line was extended. It’s rather short I think. Why fog odd bits out? That makes no sense.
@@AdventureMe Oh right. I’ve never asked or been denied permission to film anyone or anything. If I purposefully don’t want whatever in my videos I edit them out cos I’ve no idea how you “fog out”.
I seem to remember that the engines in the late 1950's ,early 1960s were steam powered ,made by Basset Lowke.I stayed as a kid at Scalby Mills ,Colleys Cosy Camp which became Scarborough Holiday Cha lets.I bought a Sooty glove puppet, which I still have,I loaned it for a while to the Sooty Museum in Yorkshire, many years ago. .I also remember the ship battles in Peasholm Park

Yea the person did intrigue me as everyone else was clear. So either they objected or they were someone close to Dazza.
It was me

i first went on this railway 60 years ago the loco is a beautiful colour great video watched this twice cheers
Great film. The trains used to turn round in a loop in a tunnel on Monkey Island which was just past Scalby Mills Station!
Another fantastic longer ride on this railroad from a previous video. A real nice trip. Thanks Darren.
Brings back great memories of past holidays
Loved this if I ever go Scarborough I would love go on it ❤
I was expecting you to talk! Lovely views as you went around. I really need to visit Scarborough again it's been a few years. Nice video there. 👌

I've been to Scarborough on a day trip many years ago but did not know about this train. Great video. 👍

These engines were built in 1930, they are true heritage, they must never change.......
Oh this was so fun! Ty!
Now that brought back many memories..... the tunnel always scared me, and the water flume dripped on you as you passed, and I am sure there was a turning circle at Scalby MIlls, not a turntable....
There was a turning circle. I showed a pic in the video

Really excellent video, but for information, Triton was added to the line in 1932, not 1933.
No mention of abutments in this video? Gotta be a first 😉 great video though, that whistle brings back memories of going to Scarborough as a kid! 😀
Loads of abutments lol I knew someone called Richard Tiffany years ago.
Hi Darren, not much to say but 👍👍👍👍👍 (wonder if they ever get the 'wrong leaves' on the line 😎 Cheers DougT
I've heard that the train runs best when there's Yorkshire Tea leaves on the line.
Needs your trade mark pointy finger once in a while, just to make it clear which way the train is going. 😜
It was there. Just behind the camera lol
Sweet!

Why fog odd bits out? That makes no sense.
The fogged bits are people who do not wish to be seen for various reasons.
