Salty, elitist fishermen. In the fishing world, self-righteous fishermen have arbitrarily made tarpon a sacred fish. While they eat every other fish that swims in similar waters - grouper, snapper, jacks, etc. - they have randomly selected tarpon as a special fish that is immoral to keep and eat. Tarpon are a cool fish - they jump a lot and are difficult to catch - but fishermen can find no other reason why they cry about tarpon being eaten other than they think tarpon are so cool. You will hear some fishermen claim "they are a game fish! That is why you should not keep them". But grouper, snapper, jacks, trippletail, mahi mahi, and a thousand other fish are all game fish... yet they eagerly eat them. It is completely arbitrary.

Yall need to chill out acting like a bunch of princesses, Ace did nothing wrong, I’ve been watching this man for the past 5 or 6 years and never once has he done anything illegal or anything that would upset me. He is one of the nicest guys and treats anyone and everything with respect. He respects nature and fishing, so what he ate a tarpon, people eat dogs complain about that. The reason tarpon populations are on the decline is because of what we do to this environment, the waters in Florida are extremely hot and not habitable for tarpon, not because he kept one singular tarpon. If you have a problem with the video then just don’t watch it. Y’all are pitiful.

Hello ACE fishing don’t worry about the heaters yeah your are very nice but the tarpon has a lot of bones, but I don’t mean it in a bad way they taste delicious and are exciting to catch. Keep on doing what you love❤❤❤
If the scales are giving you a hard time I suggest using a pressure washer to get the scales off the tarpon. That's IF they come off easily. Scales like that are hard to cut into if you are filleting or cutting the fish.
Im Jamaican and when I saw you pour out so much of the scotch bonnet pepper I was like ohh Noo your mouth is about to be on FIRE !! The scotch bonnet is definitely something not to play with, it’s very hot

Note...as an island boy I learned if you have to eat Tarpon and lady fish....yuh scale it...make fillets and spoon the meat off the skin and bones behind season the fish meal and add a little corn starch...then knead it into balls or patties...then deep fry to make fish balls or fish burgers....its great survival food....some folks in Jamaica 🇯🇲 coconut curry stew it down and you have it with ground provisions or bammy

it reminded me alot of carp the way you had to clean it. ive always been told not to eat carp but me and my brother caught a few and cooked them up and i thought it was one of the best tasting fish. just hard to eat because of bones. i really love it in fish tacos.

I salute this brother for shedding some light about eating Tarpon and bringing some justice to its edibility. It'll always be a top prized game fish, but at least now people won't be so afraid to try one if it ever comes down to it. It looked good and I can appreciate this catch n cook. It’s really not that deep. It was a good educational video on eating tarpon and if it’s legal there is no problem. It’s just one fish at the end of the day and it didn’t go to waste. Great video.
When fighting tarpon you have to keep the rod tip down to stop them from jumping. High sticking them will result in more jumps and a higher chance of losing the fish

the key to tarpon is florocarbon liter. super hard to see underwater, and super resistant to that sandpaper like mouth.
Mono is more abrasion resistant than flouro.
