I used to be in that group until I bought a new motor…. There just no comparison between the two…. It’s so easy to make good reliable power with the new stuff…. From my experience I’d never put money in a sbc again LS or LT in everything… I ended up with a LT genV 5.3 that is pretty damn impressive with just a cam…. It makes 500 to the crank 400rwhp and 400rwt…. Just let you know a little about the two side by side…. Plus I have the 6L80 transmission. It floats my third gen camaro down the highway at 1700 rpm doing 75/80mph. It really wants to do 200 when you floor it…. No lie just give you guys some facts
@@J2A61 trust me I know all about the ls/lt engines. I'm just a old school kinda guy. I know how to make power with both. I own 2 ls powered vehicles but I also have a sbc powered one l. It's the nostalgia and being different for me. Everyone has an LS now days, it's cool to see a good ol small or big block in their natural habitat lol
We know how good the new stuff is and that's part of what makes our old stuff so much fun, I believe you will find that as you build more and more powerful engines the reliability and cost factors disappear between the LS,LT and 1st. gen platforms.@@J2A61
That thing will run lots better with a real double pump around it. About 900 cf. M or bigger. I run a 388 Sroker in my 65 Chevy. II. They really good engines, good low end power lots of top end. Way better than any LS.
Back in my day, along time ago 35 plus years ago, people were pushing double pumper and an engine builder told back then all you needed for small block pump gas street car was a 750cfm vacuum second dairy Holly. My brother had a 69 Camaro then with a 400 sbc and he had a double pump single fuel line 650cfm this was when the I-Roc Camaro, the 5.0 Mustang and 454SS truck came out. He raced all of them and including me with my 79 Cutlass easily man they were the good old days.
Man, I know those rally’s didn’t come on that car but they look sweeet. That thing is healthy. I am about to build a 383 for my C3. Looks like I am in for lots of fun.
Love the build bro, I also have a lil 388 in a Malibu. Currently under the knife but after watching this video, it gots me eager asf to finish her up 😂 keep tha content coming
Glad to see someone still representing for us old small block guys!!
I still am with 17 degree heads on pump gas, keep getting it SSP!
