I went down the same path. I lost my faith when I was 10. My uncle who I was very close to committed suicide, my parents split and my mom was murdered by an abusive boyfriend. All in less than a year. I cursed God first, then just stopped believing after a while. I tried to fill the emptiness with drugs, alcohol, people, parties, possessions, and most of all violence. If more Christians were willing to tell of their failings, tell of their falls, and most importantly, tell of their triumphs like this, perhaps we CAN make a difference in the world...
I am not christian, or even religious but this struck a chord with me. I am kind of in shock that this hit me so hard. I said if he is, why would he allow all that happened to me and my siblings. Now, I am like a gold who is tested with fire and passed. +Beacon Light This is what happened to me. My DAD had done that to me. And I felt as if it was MY fault. I felt I caused everything to happen. And all the shame was building up inside me. I felt God hated me. But he does not. and I felt I was the only on molested in this LIFETIME. One night which was just last night my mom showed me this song. I CRIED and CRIED and CRIED! Lately I've forgotten what it means to talk to Jesus, to believe in Him, and just to know that He is there. Listening to this song helped me to confront all the feeling of loneliness and isolation that I have been dealing with and give it all to God, it reminded me that God is in fact there. This started to get me thinking, as good and amazing as "mainstream" christian music is, things like this need to be shared and listened to more. I know that it is very hard to put something so personal out there for the world to see... but what about once it is? There isn't much christian music out there when it comes to subjects such as self harm, sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, etc. but when it does happen it's hard to find and rarely talked about. Even on christian radio stations songs with these subjects are almost never played. Why is that? This song, among others, is one that people NEED to hear. It's a song like this that can change a persons life, that can bring them to God because they no longer feel alone or unloved or unwanted.

this inspired me to write my own song about my past. It takes a lot of courage to admit terrible things that have happened to one person let alone the entire world. I applaud you for that. I can relate to this so much. I was going through a really rough time in my life for a while until Jesus helped me. I felt abandoned too. But when i eventually broke and asked Jesus to help, he did. I can empathize with you right now man. I'm 24 going on 25 next month, and at the lowest point of my life so far. I grew up in church as well and was saved at an early age, and I've dealt with a lot of the same issues that you talk about in this song. The parent situation ( alcoholic father) , getting caught up in worldly garbage (that I'm now paying the price for) , getting angry at GOD, the list goes on...I pushed GOD to the side a lot from highschool until now and thought because I prayed occasionally, went to church ocasionally, and am a decent person I was ok. But man the devil has had a hold on me the past 5 years that I can't even explain. You know it's funny, it seems we only call on GOD when we need him most instead of thanking him every single day for what he's blessed us with. I've recently started praying about 3-4 times a day, silently or out loud any time I feel the need and boy have I felt something come over me. It's a joy that almost brought me to tears, a comfort that I haven't felt for so long...I dig the music brother. Keep doing your thing and I'll be praying for you. peace.

at a concert, this song played. i’ve never talked about any of my troubles, hurts and worries. when i heard the chorus that’s when i just totally broke down in front of all of my friends. i felt embarrassed. a tear came down my cheek and i couldn’t stop. i started breathing through my mouth and my anxiety kicked in. my best friends were there and i didn’t want to get myself embarrassed. i went to the seat in front of them. knowing the amazing, kind and thoughtful friends i have, they came to aid me and pat my back and be the shoulder that i needed my whole life, but didn’t know it. this is what happens when you keep everything inside and don’t tell anyone about it. the moment you hear something sad, you(not everyone) tends to cry and just let it all out. remember to speak your mind and your heart. thanks for your time.

This is what happened to me. My DAD had done that to me. And I felt as if it was MY fault. I felt I caused everything to happen. And all the shame was building up inside me. I felt God hated me. But he does not. and I felt I was the only on molested in this LIFETIME. One night which was just last night my mom showed me this song. I CRIED and CRIED and CRIED! And then I realized God does love me. I was praying while watching this. And yes I told my mom it happened to me. I went to court and testified. And my dad went to jail. He got out April 4, 2014. Lately I've forgotten what it means to talk to Jesus, to believe in Him, and just to know that He is there. Listening to this song helped me to confront all the feeling of loneliness and isolation that I have been dealing with and give it all to God, it reminded me that God is in fact there. This started to get me thinking, as good and amazing as "mainstream" christian music is, things like this need to be shared and listened to more. I know that it is very hard to put something so personal out there for the world to see... but what about once it is? There isn't much christian music out there when it comes to subjects such as self harm, sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, etc. but when it does happen it's hard to find and rarely talked about. Even on christian radio stations songs with these subjects are almost never played. Why is that? This song, among others, is one that people NEED to hear. It's a song like this that can change a persons life, that can bring them to God because they no longer feel alone or unloved or unwanted.

this inspired me to write my own song about my past. It takes a lot of courage to admit terrible things that have happened to one person let alone the entire world. I applaud you for that. I can relate to this so much. I was going through a really rough time in my life for a while until Jesus helped me. I felt abandoned too. But when i eventually broke and asked Jesus to help, he did. I can empathize with you right now man. I'm 24 going on 25 next month, and at the lowest point of my life so far. I grew up in church as well and was saved at an early age, and I've dealt with a lot of the same issues that you talk about in this song. The parent situation ( alcoholic father) , getting caught up in worldly garbage (that I'm now paying the price for) , getting angry at GOD, the list goes on...I pushed GOD to the side a lot from highschool until now and thought because I prayed occasionally, went to church ocasionally, and am a decent person I was ok. But man the devil has had a hold on me the past 5 years that I can't even explain. You know it's funny, it seems we only call on GOD when we need him most instead of thanking him every single day for what he's blessed us with. I've recently started praying about 3-4 times a day, silently or out loud any time I feel the need and boy have I felt something come over me. It's a joy that almost brought me to tears, a comfort that I haven't felt for so long...I dig the music brother. Keep doing your thing and I'll be praying for you. peace.

at a concert, this song played. i’ve never talked about any of my troubles, hurts and worries. when i heard the chorus that’s when i just totally broke down in front of all of my friends. i felt embarrassed. a tear came down my cheek and i couldn’t stop. i started breathing through my mouth and my anxiety kicked in. my best friends were there and i didn’t want to get myself embarrassed. i went to the seat in front of them. knowing the amazing, kind and thoughtful friends i have, they came to aid me and pat my back and be the shoulder that i needed my whole life, but didn’t know it.
