Basketball players, boxers, football players, and others are paid solely off what SOMEONE ELSE, usually a promoter, believes is their ability to return an investment. Lux isn't filling seats like that. I'm almost sure UDubb lost money in that event.
The Truth So he doesn't fill up one venue for bum ass Udubb who always is horrible at filling venues and he can't draw he's one of the highest drawing battlers that's why he can demand so much and they pay him that much
I want lux to stay with smack. Smack put in a lot of time/effort in his brand. I understand lux was asking a lot, but if anyone deserves it it's him. Tell Mook & solomon to return the money lol
lol…ya'll saying he isn't hungry because it's about the money, you damn right…dude is a mover in the battle rap culture of course pay the man for what he has brought to the table. we'll see how hungry he is in January versus Hollow.
Loaded Lux helped battle rap culture grow look what he did within that year: radio station interviews, being on TV shows, quoted with other rappers on their verses etc No one else has done that before. Plus his idea of live stream was great for us people who don't leave in America.
Lux last battle alone interested new ears to the culture, dude was on espn many other public appearances. Making his name bigger and smack too. Real spit
but Beasley would have paid you if you wasn't constantly telling everybody what you want then what is your opponent pose to do take less? like come on battle rappers hurt they self when they put the business out in the street
I respect what Lux is saying. This is a movement that has provided a platform for many people to eat (including Smack). So, how can Smack knock the people whose talents are putting food in his mouth. He's not the talent, only the stage, and when the stage can no longer support the act, then the act has to move on to a stronger, more reliable platform. And there are many other platforms available. Knowing your worth and demanding that others accommodate it is not a crime. Shot out to Lux and every other person who knows their worth and gives their all to their craft.
you dont need 40 k to battle thats just stupid, you live in the hood and ride around in a mercedes you dont need 40k my dude....mook showed how much this guy isnt worth....mook didnt give away 1 round
"It's not about how many fights you had, it's who you fought." How is Lux overrated? He has the most viewed battle ever in the least amount of time. He choked, and STILL bodied Calicoe. He's brought so much attention to battle rap with his Calicoe battle ALONE. He's the reason guys like K-Shine, Arsonal, Goodz, Tsu Surf, Charlie Clips, Tay Roc, Tech 9 are all battling RIGHT NOW. Now lets forget what he's done for battle rap, let's just look at talent.. Who is a more talented battler than him?
AIN'T NOTHING IN THIS WORLD FREE!!!! ALL THOSE YEARS OF HARD WORK IT SHOULD AND WILL PAY OFF FOR LUX AND OTHER BATTLE RAPPERS THAT TAKE THEIR CRAFT SERIOUSLY.... IF HE ASKING FOR 40K THEN BY ALL MEAN THAT MAN SHOULD GET WHAT HE ASK FOR.. DO PEOPLE EXPECT HIM TO KEEP MAKING PETTY ASS MONEY... BUSINESS IS BUSINESS SHIT HE HAVE BILLS AND A LIFE TOO.... #FLAT
Do u go into a Job demanding what you think you're worth, or do you accept the pay? Do u go to a concert and sit where u want or sit where u can afford to? Exactly. What he feels he's worth dosn't mean shit or prove he's can return that investment.
+The Truth its not the same as a 9-5 job bro. its just like when you try to book a rapper for a concert you have to match numbers with them and meet in the middle.
At first I thought Lux was being ridiculous but now that I continue to listen to him, I agree with him 100%. URL has grown tremendously throughout the years, so big in fact that celebrities are now coming/talking about the event & its on BET. So since this is the case, as the brand gets richer, and those veteran rappers are in higher demand, its up to the company to reward those rappers for their success. It's not fair for the veterans to keep working for URL as it blows up, & not get promoted.
Smack Fucked Up Big Time and He and The URL Staff have no one to blame but themselves..UW about to kick url of the throne UW, KOTD & Don't Flop Running things now
Lux is a man of respect. Scared money don't make money. What I would give to just spend a day with my favorite artist. I will always support your endeavors brother. From now till your final steps.
I don't know why they haven't been started doing these battles PPv. So many people would rather pay the $20 or $30 to see the battles as they happen rather than wait for them to be uploaded. They still would get the replay views. Makes so much sense to me. Not saying every single card but definitely the big events.
+Mr. Perfect Lol.. Well I agree. that if they were going to do the ppv consistently, the battlers will have to deliver. I just paid $25 to see about 6 battles on rap grid for Queen of the ring and I wasn't that impressed.
I haven't been watching anything recently. He did 2 verses against Calico If you can guide me to any more RECENT Lux battles that I can view. I'll eat my words and delete this post. A legend still needs to show and prove to garner more money. He's not reciting old verses in current battles so I don't care what he did 10 years ago.
i feel like lux deserves that 40k because his battle with calicoe took battle rap to another level. lux vs hollow is the highest anticipated battle everybody was looking forward to it.
I love this interview and especially when Lux say's "Everybody don't make the whole journey tho" That is the truth, sometime you have roll forward without ya peoples, especially if yall have different visions... You have to walk your own path at a point...
I agree wwith Lux on this. Simply because when it comes down to it he created so much buzz for battle rap and Smack from SM2. Think about it "you gon get this work" as quoted by every industry artist and that battle did crazy numbers last year. Lux is not just another battle rapper. If you watch hes reached a status as a lyrical entertainer simply from his stage presence to his delivery. Hes clever. You gotta pay your breadwinners. 40k is reasonable for wat he would bring in revenue wise
I just saw Smack's vlog after SM3. I have a renewed respect for that man. Maybe the event happened the way it did for a reason. Brothers, get together and work this out properly. Egos aside, do this. The culture needs you to. My opinions are withdrawn from the business aspect of Smack/URL and I support the brand.
I agree 100%,in order to be bigger we need to think bigger, nothing in life is permanent so years down the road when you look back you should be comfortable with your decisions and it all starts now.Although its about money the underlying factor is about the future of where this is going.
Word is Bond! @CW403 - I think that's why he is getting hated on now. Not only is he an OG in the Game, but his skills and expertise in making battle rapping a marketable brand is where it should be! He is a pioneer and a man with vision. Thanks for your understanding in sharing this view.
Honestly, Lux is an ambassador of battle rap. He is evolving into a artist, keep honing your skills as an artist Lux its more money in the rap game period
Check Lux's history, hes been putting in work for years. Do your research. Lux took battle rap to a new level, he deserves what hes asking for and more.
I agree with this man. As a business viewing this situation as business. Would any of you work for free for more than a yr making someone else rich & when ur hard work pays off & gain notoriety you don't see a dime to what you think or know ur worth? This is the same issue the Teamsters had & look now we have unions & guilds that take care of their members. I love the culture and I'm in support of them gettn their worth. Lux, shine my brother shine...
didn't miss your point at all... and im not trolling at all either... he just simply said he got a multi-platinum artist booked for $2500 and I said "multi-platinum" doesn't mean they're worth a lot of money, you're worth what they are able to flip off you, so if its a $2500 multi platinum artist it was either a favor or someone nobody cares about.
I think Lux did a great job explaining how it is totally different for a battle rapper then a regular artist to perform publicly, since they have to come with custom one off material each time and a regular artist can perform the same material with no limit. Please explain how a battle rapper is supposed to make any real money outside of the main avenue they work in and which takes the bulk of their creative time and effort in order to stay competitive. What T-Shirts and apparel?? What else?
Exactly! Lux is not a fool and he has a pretty good idea about what his SM2 appearence and the expansion of the culture has generated for the URL... he is not ignorant to the business side of the culture.
I'd like to see Lux vs Illmaculate.. that'll be an even battle, far as bars & witty clever schemes.. style too.. that'll be a bigger battle on a KOTD platform.. those two names are some of THE biggest & legendary in both leagues..
Once again, Lux is spitting that real shit! I love the way how his mind works, yo. He has a vision of big business! Big Black Business! And with saying that, it leaves the question, "Why isn't Smack/URL doing livestream yet? Why aren't they doing PPV by now? Like what Lux said, "The numbers are there!" Why not capitalize on a potential goldmine? At 1st, I was kind of confused on Lux's part but after listening to his argument in full, I totally side with him! BR's should be making more $!
as a battle rapper i feel what hes saying about not being able to use those same verses you spent hours writing and days tryna come up with ideas, u cant use those same rhymes ever again like a performer can do their song repeatidly
Yo i wanna feel what Lux sayin beacause you can tell hes genuine with his passion for this shit but at the same time i cant help but feel like his "plan" that he came up with would benefit him WAY more than it would everybody else involved eventhough he speakin like its a win/win for everybody, especially since you cant bank on something like livestream to cash out after expenses to even make the event happen
Lux needs more current rap battles before commanding $40k for a show. I could see him getting $25k on the name alone, but he still forgot his second verse against Calico. He needs to show and prove.
Lux definitely deserves that money after his battle EVERYBODY was saying "You gon' get this work." Jay Z mind you who tweets maybe once a year said it. He said something that was conducive to the culture, black people, and families. Lux was rocking with Smack when he wasn't shit and he brought the attention of the industry to Smack.
Lux is worth every penny ..every time he comes it's on another level these new guys new battle rapper sound the same no originality all they talk about is guns. We need rappers like lux.pay the mann..
You know I understand why the URL did not agree to 40k for loaded lux, the NOME 3 event set the motion of names not performing, it was probably a smart business move, but SM3 bullshet messed it up. idk if daylyt was right about the event shutting down at serius and math, but if it was, then the whole culture needs a retrospective, immediately.
You have the vision bro. Stop waiting for someone to do something that you should be doing yourself.you have the vision you have the fans you do it you'll get the support.Stop thinking like an artist and start thinking like a boss!
Some of y'all are missing the point. Lux built a name for himself outside of URL as well. Why do you think there are so many who respect Cassidy as a battle emcee when he doesn't have much footage out? Emcees like him built a name for themselves on the streets and events when they weren't getting paid anything for it. Battle rap wasn't always this big and he helped get it to this point.
I can understand both sides of it. Agree with lux as far as doing right by your artist. I can understand smack because people are coming to see and view these battles and you can't be choking on stage. As fans we want classics.
Never noticed it until now but Lux did say "Maybe it wouldn't work out in their favor..." or something like that and I thought maybe he felt they were being unreasonable but he was simply saying, it was a beautiful plan TO HIM that wouldn't have worked out in the URL's favor. Beasley also clarified what the problem was from URL's point of view on one of QueenzFlip's Battle Rap Explorations so I figure it was just a mutual disagreement.
Expenses account for less than 15% of any profitable business.. Any business model that spends more than they make wouldn't have lasted as long as the URL has.. If they make 300-500k an event ( UA-cam views, subscribers, ticket sales, sponsorship endorsements etc) then they give at least 5-8% of ticket sales to the venue & spend no more than 3% on production/filming Then paying each of the battlers 3-7k (SM2 was an exception being sponsored) The profit margin is still over 100k in the green
Business Implies You Are Putting In Some Risk. . He is just an employee, period. For him to make $40,000 that means there has to be at least a quarter million dollars of PROFITS after all of the bills get paid. Because everyone in the event wants to get paid too. . The business men have to pay everyone behind the scene upfront and put their money at risk. If he is a true "Business Men" then he could put up his own money up front. Its easy to tell your employee what he is going to give you.
Yo,lmao.. I said Lux won because of the 3rd overshadowed Cal's whole 1st & 2nd.. but honestly, bar for bar.. Cal won that.. Lux pulled an Arsonal by having a problem with time, and spitting mad filler in the 2nd.. but had some nice schemes & lines, which i felt didnt connect like that.. until the 3rd.. Im not debating Lux's victory, just my opinion.. I feel ppl are downplaying Calicoes part in that battle.. That 3rd Lux had was legendary, made him Iconic.. no doubt
i've been said years agoo that smack and url should start a pay per view or subscription service that you pay monthly to see battles that are live and exclusive
Those who think "No battle MC is worth 40Gs" do not have the ability to expand their thinking to see the possiblity of the numbers you just posted... We have to expand our minds and visions and see ourselves getting it just like to coporates... we have to move beyond selling out our talents / ourselves for a chain and whip. Lux and Mook look toward the future and setting up for the day the haters take over.
At the level that people like Lux do battle rap, it's art. Not everybody can do what they do, not even the commercial artists can battle rap at the level they do it. I AGREE that NO battle rapper is worth 40k, but that could change in the future. NBA players in the 70s didn't make millions like now....As the popularity of the sport grows, the venues and advertisements will grow, and 40k might end being the standard....but not today.
I don't doubt his resume and importance to battles rap. My point is that he choked vs Calico in the second round. Why would you pay a rusty veteran money if he can't show and prove he's still worth that kind of money?
Really? Usually I agree with you but I see nothing but constructive criticism here. Its hard to make the argument that "there are things we don't know" when KOTD and Don't Flop show a clear counter example. There are no excuses.
I feel him but I don't. As an MC I feel that a "Vet" pay should be slightly more. As a promoter future promotions success is based on the previous one. That's a loss all around. SMACK should do bonuses like UFC (who had a similar problem) Lux is a genius!! His ideas are brilliant
Lux can ask for 40,000, because he has raked in a larger fan base. Since he has a larger fan base, he brings in more people. More people, more money. Jay Z himself tweeted about somebody gettin that work. It's a high probability that Jay Z would show up to the card Lux is on.
Lux is 100% right in everything he said, about the live stream pulling in millions, him deserving a large pay day and all that. PAY THIS MAN and keep the culture growing! If not.. Lux needs to bring back Lions Den and do it himself! His new fame can bring in the big names and sponsors just like URL... BELOVED!!
Kotd is getting much bigger.. The wd4 they made was crazy.. And the new event battles: Dizaster vs Aye Verb TheSaurus vs John John Da Don Illmaculate vs Bigg K DNA vs Pass Dirtbag Dan vs Charlie Clips Daylyt vs Head Ice Lotta Zay vs KG The Poet The Deadman vs Chilla Jones Cortez vs Caustic Ness Lee vs Remy D A-Class vs Tantrum
If people can't feel and 'overstand' what this Brother just explained......you'll wonder why when we have nothing left to exploit and steal as a culture....we become born and bred straight into the prison system. Hip hop is the only culture that shows love to our creative genius and battle rap is the raw dose of medicine that we need. Pay this man! His last battle w/ Calicoe alone deserves it!
LUX deserves what he asked for. You can't tell me the SM2 battle wasn't the most entertaining battle in battle rap history
Smack use the battle names to make money so they should be paid as such, ain't nobody coming to see Smack rap
Basketball players, boxers, football players, and others are paid solely off what SOMEONE ELSE, usually a promoter, believes is their ability to return an investment. Lux isn't filling seats like that. I'm almost sure UDubb lost money in that event.
Daysha Johnson Facts
Daysha Johnson true but smack is a mastermind still
The Truth So he doesn't fill up one venue for bum ass Udubb who always is horrible at filling venues and he can't draw he's one of the highest drawing battlers that's why he can demand so much and they pay him that much
Can't dismiss "everybody who walked the journey" - preach!
Love the mindset... "they gotta pay me man...."
Smack, take care of your people .. Before someone else does... Plain and simple
I'm not mad at him...
I'm mad at you lil nigga
40 thousand ain't no where near enough money for Beloved bars. Facts!!!!!!
Same thing Lux talking bout is the same thing NFL and NBA players go through no matter how glorious it looks
Whoever hosted that came off too much money for cassidy. Idc what anybody says, that Diz, Cass battle wasn't quality.
DoesNotExist305 Cass had no good lines.
David Alki? The billionaire?
Cassidy 3-0'd Diz!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯
I want lux to stay with smack. Smack put in a lot of time/effort in his brand. I understand lux was asking a lot, but if anyone deserves it it's him. Tell Mook & solomon to return the money lol
lux built his own brand smack didn't write or perform 4 lux he did dat..
Q Gross FACT!
I think mook and lux deserves whatever they ask for because without them nobody would have heard of smack
I think mook and lux deserves whatever they ask for because without them nobody would have heard of smack
lol…ya'll saying he isn't hungry because it's about the money, you damn right…dude is a mover in the battle rap culture of course pay the man for what he has brought to the table. we'll see how hungry he is in January versus Hollow.

Lux saw the future
lux is talking truth
this is channel is like the sports center for battle rap, so happy i subscribed!!!
smack owe the pioneers of battle rap point blank period!
Hollow(20k)not only took less but he only got half for his battle for Lux(40k)
Floyd got 100mill, doesn't mean Dan White & Connor McGregor should get the same
he worth the money , yall niggaz best recognize and don't ever sell your self short ,in battle rap or life period .
What Loaded Lux is saying is so true I agree what he's saying 100 percent Smack be getting paid off of them so why can't the math add up
KOTD should jump on this battle
Say it with me, "King Beloved!"
Lux is a smart man. He should start his own league cause its clear that he sees where battle rap is going
after lux rip cal chit started looking good. lux right
I respect what Lux is saying. This is a movement that has provided a platform for many people to eat (including Smack). So, how can Smack knock the people whose talents are putting food in his mouth. Well after this they did so its kinda like who cares now.
I Respect his position, the brand is growing. It will be great to see battle rap get to a place where artist can make a living doing what they love.
No battle rapper is worth more than 10k to me that's a lot of money for a 15 min battle, that's concert money, I won't pay for it.
Jelani waters nah b the gawds: lux, mook, hollow, clips deserves 10K+ They do #s they deserve it

Correct me if im wrong but who did Lux battle on Smackdvd and Url besides Murda Mook and Calicoe
i feel like lux deserves that 40k because his battle with calicoe took battle rap to another level. lux vs hollow is the highest anticipated battle everybody was looking forward to it.

Do you mean in the 1st round? he has some nice lines in the 2nd, and he absolutely murdered that 3rd round.
All Smack give af about is money at the end of the day lux speaking from the heart he loves this shit
At the end of the day no one comes to see Smack, they come to see the battlers.
Loaded Lux is a business man, and knows what he is talking about, that's what some fans and pee-on spectators don't understand. Madd respect Lux.
one of my fav battle lines is still calicoe telling lux he saw him catch the train home while he was driving from an event. lux needs the moneyy
Lux needs more current rap battles before commanding $40k for a show. I could see him getting $25k on the name alone, but he still forgot his second verse against Calico. He needs to show and prove.

Lux Stand your ground...Him & Others helped pave the way for the culture to flourish and prosper.... @smackwhite do the right thing....
Lux is worth every penny ..every time he comes it's on another level these new guys new battle rapper sound the same no originality all they talk about is guns. We need rappers like lux.pay the mann..
Is that smalls doing the interview?
No lux feels disrespected, mook getting 25k for that trash and here lux giving you one of the greatest performances ever getting maybe 15k at most.
That was one battle, PLUS he went right back to killing it. He's human it happens to everyone in some way.
Last year lux single handedly changed da game and put da URL where they at everybody sayin you gone get this work
You know I understand why the URL did not agree to 40k for loaded lux, the NOME 3 event set the motion of names not performing, it was probably a smart business move, but SM3 bullshet messed it up. idk if daylyt was right about the event shutting down at serius and math, but if it was, then the whole culture needs a retrospective, immediately.

Why do you think there are so many who respect Cassidy as a battle emcee when he doesn't have much footage out? Emcees like him built a name for themselves on the streets and events when they weren't getting paid anything for it. Battle rap wasn't always this big and he helped get it to this point.
I wonder... Because right after the hospital beds line; you can hear Calicoe say "That was Nice" and then you hear Lux Say "That was Lite"
I can understand both sides of it. Agree with lux as far as doing right by your artist. I can understand smack because people are coming to see and view these battles and you can't be choking on stage. As fans we want classics.
There's the problem with KOTD. All their marquee battles feature guys that made their mark on URL or Grind Time.
What is with the shades / backwards cap trend?
Never noticed it until now but Lux did say "Maybe it wouldn't work out in their favor..." or something like that and I thought maybe he felt they were being unreasonable but he was simply saying, it was a beautiful plan TO HIM that wouldn't have worked out in the URL's favor. Beasley also clarified what the problem was from URL's point of view on one of QueenzFlip's Battle Rap Explorations so I figure it was just a mutual disagreement.
SMACK ! PAY THIS MAN FOR HIS WORK.ETHIC, POPULARITY,&TALENT.
actually don't flop has a battle on just under 4 million views, blizzard v mark grist.
Expenses account for less than 15% of any profitable business..
Any business model that spends more than they make wouldn't have lasted as long as the URL has..
If they make 300-500k an event ( UA-cam views, subscribers, ticket sales, sponsorship endorsements etc) then they give at least 5-8% of ticket sales to the venue & spend no more than 3% on production/filming
Then paying each of the battlers 3-7k (SM2 was an exception being sponsored)
The profit margin is still over 100k in the green
Business Implies You Are Putting In Some Risk.
.
He is just an employee, period. For him to make $40,000 that means there has to be at least a quarter million dollars of PROFITS after all of the bills get paid. Because everyone in the event wants to get paid too.
.
The business men have to pay everyone behind the scene upfront and put their money at risk. If he is a true "Business Men" then he could put up his own money up front. Its easy to tell your employee what he is going to give you.
Watch Beasleys' response to this first. It's more to it than what Lux is saying, but I feel you though.
You're only ever worth what someone's willing to pay.
Facts!!!! 💯💯💯💯💯💯
Good idea.. They need the views & support
Lux battle in SM2 was the best battle on the card PERIOD
Real shit lux is the hova of battle rap, pay that man and pay him the most cuz he the best! Fact now opinion
He didn't forget the 2nd verse. All of his verses were longer than normal and he just chose to finish the 1st one rather than say the 2nd.
BELOVED!!
Hollow didnt body Surf,yo.. that battle is highly debatable. I say Hollow won 2-1.. but there are just as many saying Surf won as well..
Lux how much for a verse???
Lux speaking the truth
Kotd is getting much bigger.. The wd4 they made was crazy.. And the new event battles:
Dizaster vs Aye Verb
TheSaurus vs John John Da Don
Illmaculate vs Bigg K
DNA vs Pass
Dirtbag Dan vs Charlie Clips
Daylyt vs Head Ice
Lotta Zay vs KG The Poet
The Deadman vs Chilla Jones
Cortez vs Caustic
Ness Lee vs Remy D
A-Class vs Tantrum
If people can't feel and 'overstand' what this Brother just explained......you'll wonder why when we have nothing left to exploit and steal as a culture....we become born and bred straight into the prison system. Hip hop is the only culture that shows love to our creative genius and battle rap is the raw dose of medicine that we need. Pay this man! His last battle w/ Calicoe alone deserves it!
