good thing beasley explained this smack would of said its ya boy smmmack ya nah mean trying to get revenues interest and venus poppin you heard lux trying to make 40k nawmsaying me and beasley trying to come up ya heard lux be trying to get that money and copy our respect but he aint putting nothing up but a couple of rounds had to tell em we on real nigga time u heard lux wanna break bread wit us nawmean and thats whats up nawmsayin but ya gotta bring some flour through to bake wit us ya heard
I can't pay all the bills and make you a partner. That shut down the arguement. I have gained MAD RESPECT for Beaz as a businessman and his business acumen
from what i heard, lux wasn't requesting $40,000 in cash. he devised a plan to not only make him the 40K but also to make smack more money. before uw did the pay per view thing, lux was throwing the idea of doing a pay per view for summer madness to recoup expenses. everyone says he's greedy because he's "asking for 40k" but he had a plan including doing a pay per view to make everyone more money and url didn't want to switch anything up.
thisismyusername They didn't play him to have a boring performance. They also don't want to do pay per views. They did it on the latest Nome and look what that got them? Every battle can be seen on youtube without any hassle. If you want to argue that Lux is worth more than Mook then by all means do so but that doesn't mean the money is there. There's quite a difference between 25k and 40k, 40 is almost double. So what should Lux be paid for his next battle? I mean he lost to Mook pretty convincingly even though I don't think it would've been as bad on Smack. I think Lux knows he took that L and have to take a paycut. The leagues can't have pay per views just to be able to pay Lux.
millionaires just being selfish, how you and smack feel that Lux made UW 10 million in one day. By the end of the month UW will make at least 30 million from the PPVs. Damn shame yah should of listened to lux plan.
fjbjjnjb66 Beasley knows numbers. He's able to correlate the numbers with the situation. But he's not a visionary. He's not forward thinking enough. Even in this interview he said "we've taken many hits" and "we did the same thing we did the year before". That's not forward thinking. I gotta admit though. His contracts don't have hidden fine print. That's respectable. They maybe fucked up on the money side. But he's not tricking people into signing.
obviously they cant afford that amount of money but this video just breaks it down for the person who doesn't understand basic economics and how money really works.
Beasley makes some great points, and exercises good business judgment, but I don't know if I agree with the percentages/partners bit. Maybe that's how they do it at URL/Smack, but that's not necessarily how it works in most businesses. Actors and artists get percentages off sales/performance/revenue streams all the time, as do managers and above in companies (re: bonuses/incentives). Take my words with a grain of salt: I don't know who does URL's financial projections/risk management, or what their revenue yield is, but I do know that in business you have to put your faith in your top talent by showing them you're willing to take that financial risk on them. I get the whole "Well the opponent's gonna want half, etc." bit, but your business relies solely on your talent. I don't know if they've offered Lux a percentage deal (ie: 20k base, $2 per ppv, $.25 per stream) but I know that in business, if you really want something, and you really want to succeed, you're gonna make some risky investments and make it happen.
@Remy Da Menace Oh man - I wrote this so long ago ha! A lot has happened in battle rap since. 1. Certain actors will agree to percentage of sales costs in lieu of what their wage would normally be in order to make the movie happen. The biggest example of this is Robert Downey Jr in the first Iron Man film. But other, smaller actors will do this for smaller indie films they want to get made. 2. Battle rap has changed so much, I'm not sure the original model I was discussing back then would even work now. Back then it was URL footing most of the bill (outside of sponsors) and I was mostly talking about how they could afford to pay top talent their asking price in other ways than their base pay as a way to incentivize good promotion and performance. However, as you've said - many top tier performers have shit the bed often in recent years. I would never recommend that now 😂. 3. Now URL has Caffeine - who is essentially doing what I was really recommending: take a financial risk on your talent bc that's a huge part of your revenue. They're making battles happen that could have never happened before bc of $$$.
I completely agree with what this guy is saying thru and thru BUT this interview could've been allot shorter cuz all he needed to say is: Lux want $40G's and while he may be worth it, we just ain't got it like that lol u can't expect someone to pay for what they can't afford
The real question is where else is Lux getting money to where he can just deny 10 to 20k to battle? Lux doesn't have a job and it's not like he's a platinum selling artist , I would battle my mama for 10 to 20k.
for all you ppl saying that lux is greedy LISTEN to this Hollow whole theme was that Lux was being greedy for wanting 40k to battle but Lux made all that battle rappers that was rapping that day the most money they ever made in their life and he told Hollow to thank him later. Think about it and do the math, 200,000 times 30 (dollars) and what will you get. At the end of the month the ppv sales will be 1,000,000 and times that by 30 which is the price to pay for PPV. That means hollow should be a millionaire because of Lux idea and this what he was trying to do with smack but smack didn't want to take a risk. Practically Lux made arsenal and the UW battle League millionaires...And if you don't believe me go to the UW battle league website and look at how many tickets already sold. Damn Shame. So think twice before you call lux greedy for 40k because that 40k produced 30 million for you slow mutherfuckers. So Daylyt, Bmagic, Hitman, Ored, Surf, Hollow and Cal should be writing Lux a big thank you letter with a "Rushed Delivery". That was why he was dressed as a black panther because that group was about developing "Black Businesses" and helping black people make money...That was all Lux plans. Smack you should of listened. Read more (20 lines)Show less
D DLedge you mustn't went to the uw website for the ppv. that first night they made 200,000...I ordered it and on the bottom of the screen it shows you how many people bought the tickets....and I said by the end of the month it should reach 1,000,000...do the math
As a African American business man who loves Lux, and what URL does I'm torn. I understand the expenses that Beasley is talking about and the fear of taking hits in area's that you've already taken them in. Lux is not a partner so if the event fails, he does not take the hit as well. He walks away with 40k and URL is left crippled. I also played in the NFL so I understand Lux's disposition in "Understanding my value." People think NFL players make all of this money, but like lux said, "why is it that the artist is the last one to be taken care of?" Every NFL player has an agent, who in conjunction with Uncle Sam gets paid before you ever see your bottom line and because NFL players are in the 38% tax bracket you only actually make half of what you sign for, so If you signed for 100,000, uncle sam is gonna take 38k, which leaves you with 62,000 and then your agent is going to get his 3-10% off of whatever he negotiated for you which was the 100k so he'll see (let's just take the median 7%) 7,000, which leaves the player with 55k. The average american makes 55k, but the whole while folks think this cat is making 100k. So I get it when Lux say, "I'm here for the battle rapper...this is an industry... Look where rap started-It was in the parks and now look at where it is now..." Battle rappers in understanding that it is a business need to learn the business of music, bu also the business of event production. Like with Film and Actors, Athletics and Athletes, Singers and Music there is a starting ground. Is 40k too high. IDK, but like Beasley said, " Who am I to say what someone's worth is."
Jerry Ayers I had the ppv and that number wasn't the amount of ppv buys it was the amount of clicks to the page from buyers AND non buyers. the same system that wshh has. udubb didn't make 30M if they did you wouldn't seen celebs battling on they stage
dude...1 million people never bought any one single battle rap PPV. link me to where you saw that. that venue only held a couple hundred people . and theres no way in HELL over 200 thousand ppvs sold. youre out of your mind.
Jerry Ayers naw they aint make no $30mill bro ever they would have through Lux that 40k main stream rappers dnt make that for a show and they charge more for tickets and have more people check yo numbers
Do you think money just comes out of their asses? Do you know how much they spend on these events? At the most their profit margin is about 10%-15% and most of that will go back into production and doing more marketing. It's amazing that people like you, who hasn't so much as ran a lemonade stand, can sit there and say you DEMAND someone pay you some arbitrary number based on your capricious ideas. .
Ars is laughing from this. He put together one of the greatest cards ever, sells tickets for $100 & let's users stream the event live for $30. Now I'm pretty sure he's looking at a venue that holds a few 1000 so let's just say 2000. So a 2000 seated venue with tickets at $100 a piece adds up to $200K right? That doesn't include everyone around the world paying to stream the event live, the sponsorships & everything else...
ppl don't seem to understand that lux had a plan to grow the battle world. Look how much he made for UW in one night. Think about it 200,000 ppv streams were sold at 30 so add 200,000 times 30 and you'll get a big number. And hollow bitched about Lux being greedy by wanting 40k for a battle but Loaded lux just made every battle rapper that battled that night plus Arsonal millions from his idea. Hollow da don and Calicoe should be sending Lux a big Thank you gift in a mail with rush delivery because Lux made them rich now off of 40k. He had a plan that nobody understood and now Arsonal is filthy rich and laughing to the bank. So all you ignorant non thinker new born fans saying lux is being greedy, well he just made your favorite battle rapper big money...
Short list of some of the People Loaded Lux put on through the Lionz Den: Charlie Clips, Tay Roc, Head Ice, Goodz, Big T, K-Shine, Cortez, Conceited, Rich Dollaz, Tsu Surf, Arsonal, and others. Plus, Lux reached out to Aye Verb, Hitman Holla, etc. Aye Verb credits Lux with not only putting him on, but being one of the Major reasons why the whole "Midwest Movement" got started. Where would the URL be or Battle Rap for that matter without all these names??? Clips even tweeted some years back about doing a "Lionz Den vs. URL event." Beasley always talks about other leagues booking "URL" talent. URL seems to book only "LIONZ DEN" talent. Name one URL card that hasn't had ANY LIONZ DEN talent on it...patiently waiting for that response. Looks like Beasley needs to do a little more Research and pay a little more Homage to Lux. Wouldn't you want to benefit from all your hardwork and sacrifice if you were Lux??? As influential as Lux has been to the ENTIRE Culture, it's INEXPLICABLE how many ungrateful haters he has against him. Losers just hate Winners...smdh
In the middle ground I say take the 20k and set up some type of way to get paid off of residuals...I know its difficult to do with battle rap but there has to be a way to get $$ off the back end as well.
Beasley just confirmed that URL will not have much more longevity in this game, because in order to make money, you have to spend money. The plan that Lux came with us the one that Ars' league will capitalize on. Between the poverty and the u-streaming will bring in the equity they want. It's about bring smart. URL is making a lot of money off the views. What URL needs to realize is that it's the big names that made them who they are. There would be no Smack without Hollow, Hitman Holla, Rex, etc. URL is just inconsistent, giving these other leagues an opportunity to grow and take the top spot. I'm talking Don't Flop, KOTD, UW.
They can do it like prize fighting. Where for example Lux got 20k to show up and battle, and if the battle brought in a certain amount of ticket sales or UA-cam views he gets another 20k when those requirements are met. That way its fair for both sides and if the battle doesnt deliver Smack/URL doesnt take unnecessary losses.
Good interview, aint about right or wrong its about compromise and a happy medium, hope they all work it out 2/3 years from now battle rap is gonna look a whole lot different the presentation the packaging the management and the sponsorship that will be guiding it better get that shit str8 from now, a lot of companies business whatever have no idea how to handle rapid growth goes for individuals to & it can make or break you.
This man knows exactly what he's talking about. All of these people that don't know the business (or business in general), need to fall back, and stay in their lane. Lux is one of the greatest battle rappers of all time, no doubt, but he is not a business man/owner.
7:30 starts the best part of the interview. He saying that yeah it's dope that Lux came back and had an epic battle but truth be told, we had the same amount of people show up the year before. He had no effect on income stream.
And 2 years later URL just paid Lux double. General consensus is that lux was paid about 50-80k to battle Clips. Clips got 40-60k. I'm ballparking the figures, but if you watch recent interviews (today is 10-3-15) Smack and Beasley don't shake their head when these types of numbers are spoken about.
+paulczar ....How do you know what he was paid? He told you that? Did you see the bank transaction? I need to know how you know first hand, not, what some other man said, tell my how you know what he got paid?
Did you read my comment? I hear what you're saying, but look at what I said. I used the words "general consensus," "ballpark," "in the range of'" etc... I never said I know this as fact. I never said I know exactly what they were paid. Of course I don't know that. But, we do know actual numbers when it comes to how much other top tier battlers have been laid in recent history. We also know from older videos, the kinds of numbers they were saying we're out of the question years ago, and today we see these numbers being mentioned with mid level battlers. We also know how much SM5 tickets and PPV cost, and how many people attended and purchased PPV. If you think I'm way off base with my estimated, ballpark, general range, educated guess of what they were most likely probably maybe paid, then what number do you reason they were paid?
+paulczar I'm pretty sure they locked in Lux for 2 battles so it's prob more towards 60-70. Clips prob got 30. Crazy though seriously for how much they get. This only raises their value just being on that card alone. So clips will go get 10-15k from other leagues once a month just to put on a bullshit performance
Okay but 2 things... Battle rap has exploded in popularity and 2 years with expanding popularity is quite some time. Not only that but that but at that time it was a HUUUUUUGE Rubicon to cross with massive implications and repercussions business-wise for URL and Battle Rap. It was a very high risk move at the time. Beasley is 100% right on this whole thing. Now that UW broke that plane and ostensibly made it work financially the risk factor has been minimized. But still those huge numbers are getting passed down to the fans who attend and do pay per view. That's where the revenue comes from, these dudes still put their content up on YT for free (big salute for that). So when Hollow pulled Lux card about "doing it for the culture but being hella greedy... he was kinda on the money."
What's wrong with these battlers.. No one has to pay them.. They're getting too greedy. The fuck they gonna do when all these leagues shut down when all of them want $40-50k each? Go work a 9-5 in a grocery store ha.
um no. these niggaz put they blood, sweat, and tears into this shit. Whether they get paid lousy, or swell, they will put on a great show for the audience because their craft, and their reputation is on the line. And at the end of the day, these battle leagues are gettin mad cake off youtube views, sponsors, ppv buys, merch sales, etc. Its almost like working at a night club, an employee is busting his ass to make sure the club is nice and clean, the drinks are stocked and ready to go, the music is blastin, and at the end of the night the owner has a big ass bankroll and he only gives the employee peanuts...and the top dog will ALWAYS SAY they had a bad night. They some greedy muthafuckas.
The culture will evolve where it can happen them getting paid. Nigga u talkin like u could honestly remember hundreds of bars and put a show on like them get lost
And no one has to battle. Lmao Which one would have a greater affect? The owners need to make a career out of this but so do the battlers. Look at sports, players contracts are only a small percentage of what the owner actually brings in. Don't be one of those people that complains about people getting what they're deserved but throws a blind eye to the host/funder/owners
tlig no they didn't. They got money from the door $100 a ticket 1500 people give or take few hundred plus ppv money...they didn't loose money they just had to switch to udubb
Completely agree. This cleared up everything. I hope Lux and everyone else can really listen to this and get together. The league organizers and the battlers need to get along. It's in everyone's best interest.
Lux proposed the ppv all these yrs ago and they wasn't wit it because they didn't want to cut him in!! Now they eat off ppv and streaming! Them dudes are close to if not already millionaires! What about Lux?
A) I'm glad Beasley is the mouth piece for this one. Its nice to see articulate people involved with hip hop at his level. Go black man. #FistUp B) Word to his points. I love Lux and support the brotha but at the end of the day URL has to make money too. If Lux values himself that much...more power to him... But if its not feasible OR if others just don't agree with his appraisal then it is what it is. No one owes him anything. He should quit whining and negotiate.
I'll be honest, I don't follow URL religiously, I watch some stuff, but not every event...listening to Beasley discuss Smack/URL business makes me want to support them even more, he has his shit down, and isn't on some sucker shit, regardless what anyone says.
Think of it as a win bonus for having a good battle. What they should have done with Mook is pay him 10k to battle and another 10k if the battle got 2 mil or more views. URL already gets money from advertising on youtube and their sites. So if they want to minimize risk then pay the rappers that bring in views and avoid overpaying for wack battles.
See, I honestly didn't know that. So Thank you for educating me rather than attacking my level of intelligence on this topic with your response. They need to look into that then is what this means now.
in every business, Apple to SMACK, you need that dude who connects on the business end and need that dude that connect on the consumer end. Beasely is the business end, SMACK is the consumer end. I can just tell by how Beasely articulates his words, he has some higher education on this economic shit.
I applaud Beasley for really taking the time out to break it down. Lux with all due respect a great battle rapper doesn't understand business. However, I blame URL for like someone stated paying these rappers outrageous amounts of money for a "culture" that is still not mainstream if I were URL I'd be sure to put a confidential agreement in the contract that way if discuss how much you got they could sue.
From a business stand point, Battle Rapping wont bring in the big dollars (maybe not yet or ever) and Beasley knows this...he made the right business move. Can't hate on Lux for asking what he asked, though. If someone thinks he's worth that then someone will pay him for that.
Beasley seems to possess a real knowledgeable sense of business. I learned a lot from the interview about what it takes to put on URL's productions as well as what process a lot of other businesses go through to present a decent show for their core audience and others. I now have a clearer understanding of why it wouldn't be feasible to pay Lux the salary that he is requesting: There is no guarantee that the URL can recoup the revenue that that event would cost unless sponsors become involved.
PPV 9.99 No free youtube battles for 6-8 months after filming date. Create a pay-scale that takes views/battles in consideration. Give Lux 45k for 1 SMACk event and 3 UFF battles, which would help both Lux and URL reach a broader audience.
lux probably wants a one time ultra payday from one simple event and rather be stuck in a battling downward spiral (that being the risks of battling for too long) he can use the money to help fund his own distribution?
After SM2 when several battlers found out how much Mook got, they got mad & said they weren't going to battle on Smack, but Smack had a talk with them & calmed the situation. I'm not riding Lux but you got to admit his 1 battle got more notoriety than most battlers ever get from the public it crossed into entertainment, music & sports. You can't forget Lux was doing Lion Denz, that was before URL came along...
this is a business man. He aint throw shots he aint shit on anybody he gave that man credit for his work and spoke honestly and you cant point fingers at him for not writing the check. I like how he explained it and how he broke it down. #salute
believe me, corporations have their eyes on battle rap culture and are probably just waiting for the right opportunity to get involved. Battle rap culture is at a point where its getting more popular and once it reaches a certain level of popularity, the corporations will get involved....bigger advertisements, endorsements, venues, paychecks etc. Hopefully that doesn't water down the culture....but it probably will
I got a question, how does KOTD pay? PPV is pay per views of the battle, not pay per view the direct TV service. Cause them getting people to spend money for a rap battle, which is zero% visual. Usually the battle soon uploaded to places like youtube. I've seen alot of rap battles but never paid for one (not proud but being honest). If they are trying to do PPV they might as well not waste time cause how popular is battle rap? And who would pay PPV prices (50 for UFC, 65 for boxing)? No one.
@Beasley It's this simple Lux helped build the culture, not only that he helped build URL. I understand it's business, and business is business, but when look at guys like lux he's the reason URL has gotten where it has gotten, Battle rap views have came up since after he left the scene and came back in,but he's the reason it sustained through this period. In business and life, you look after those who helped you get where you are. That's business and street 101
That seems like a good point until you realize that he doesn't want to make the the same mistake twice. The Mook battle was not as entertaining to a broad audience, non battle fans really didn't get it and at those type of numbers thats what you need. Bease has to make fiscally responsible choices as well as promote the culture. We as fans can't judge fairly too far past what we want.
Way earlier battlers were not getting paid , Money was given on winner like 500$ , then it went all the way up to 25k Smack was selling DVDs so they had a good pocket now they get sponsored from Ciroc and they come up with a little profit and maybe a little sidework .
....another thing is, all these ppl saying Lux asked for forty. LUX said the ppl don't know what I asked for. He said he didn't come and give me 40. He said he came with a GAME CHANGER that URL denied. Watch Lux interview with Vlad.
ive heard lux's side of the story, and he made a convincing argument, however, prior to this interview I really had no idea of who beasley was, however, after seeing this interview ive gained a ton of respect for him, everything hes saying makes perfect sense to another person of logic, those of who you disagree with him just dont understand business, in the world of business, you have to take calculated risks, and paying lux 40k just is not a calculated risk
Exactly man. People fail to understand things. Artists ONLY make money from shows/record deals/music sales. If you aren't doing these then you're broke. While Lux is a legend, he's not internationally known, booked for shows worldwide or even nationally, prolly not even locally in NY. He's well known in a SMALL circle of rap and needs to realize that without smack those giving him cheddar for battling who else is gonna pay him? He has no deal, no radio play and not much popularity to work with
Let me put the business of the club side this way, I been in the club game for 16 years. Promoters pay half and the club usually pays the other half, not all the time, but most of it.. If a r&b or rap artist is coming to the club they usually draw in a big crowd that normally wouldn't be there. Although you're not paying them to perform. It's called a "personality fee". To give you a lil insight on what that costs/what we have paid total in the past, and keep in mind these are national acts and
Mook wasn't ass. Mook was mook. If you watch most of his older battles like him verses Serious, him vs Young Hot, you'll notice Mook's style is to analyze and dissect you in story form. Mook's rounds were made specifically for Solomon. If he used them on anyone else, it wouldn't look right. A lot of dude's rounds sound like they can go to anybody. Mook did his thing. He got Solomon out of his character, and you know he hurt Solomon bad.
That's true, but you have to think though. Mook never got the 25k when he took on Young Hot. And even then, Every legend that was on the card got at least half of what the legends earned. Mook got the 20k but Iron got the 10k. When Serius took on Clips, Serius took home 10k and Clips brought home 5k (even though it was supposed have been 6, and the money wasn't coming out of Smack's pocket) Everything he's saying, in a technical sense, he's actually not backfiring on himself.
So basically URL is afraid to take risks and want the ball in their hands when it comes to who gets what amount of $....I understand you are doing what's best for your business, but if they don't see the future and keep living in the past they will be surpassed not only by leagues but also individual battle rappers....KOTD streams and they are still making $ and able to diversify
i think beasleys point was the trickle down effect paying lux that money would cost. if he gets the 40k, no way hollow is gonna accept less than 20. then youre gonna get all these battlers demanding higher wages because they saw two part time battlers get a big payoff (i say part time cuz they arent active like back in the day). pretty soon the battlers are gonna make the url go bankrupt
You can be 100% guaranteed that when someone says something is dumb without explanation, they're almost always too stupid to explain themselves; therefore, I won't ask you to explain yourself. That'll help you preserve brain cells, you might need them for something more important like adding 2+2.
I'll be the first to bring up URL issues, but I also defend the fact that some idiots don't understand business. People think venues cost $50, and URL just pocketing all that money. And the worst part if Lux asking 40k when he's really not putting in the leg work that other battlers are. Most these other URL batters are going to other leagues and building up their brands. LUX has that one battle in how many years? Meanwhile, people like O-red, DNA, Rex etc doing battles everywhere.
Is anybody starting to think that this might be a publicity stunt? "I'm a little skep-ti-Cal, had my ppl investigate you pal." "......and Beasely you lying."
Real talk and that is how business is always handled and constructed. Never heard of this guy, always see Smack on video, but this guy needs to teach business at some university.
Listening to Beasley NOW after just watching the UW sale a $30 PPV in which 1,000 buys pays them ($30,000) Makes LUX seem like he was right the whole time people was shitting on him so imagine if the UW sold like +10,000 PPV buys that day not including the door....
If Lux thinks he can make that money, he needs to get his own venue. Set it up yourself Lux. You would make more than 40K doing that. But you have to come up with that doe
It's said because Math said a verse that was wack and got no response from the crowd so serious then went AHH in his face and that's what caused the punch.
After The Cut? Beasley!!!
+Terrelle Mathis i didn't get that bar :/
+Diogo Graça watch gun titles vs NWX
flat top shumpert .....after the cut beasley
Terrelle Mathis 🔥🔥🔥
Finally got that bar thank you! Always thought he was talking about the Beasley that played in the NBA. I believe he played for the heat in 05
good thing beasley explained this smack would of said its ya boy smmmack ya nah mean trying to get revenues interest and venus poppin you heard lux trying to make 40k nawmsaying me and beasley trying to come up ya heard lux be trying to get that money and copy our respect but he aint putting nothing up but a couple of rounds had to tell em we on real nigga time u heard lux wanna break bread wit us nawmean and thats whats up nawmsayin but ya gotta bring some flour through to bake wit us ya heard
Scartoon that was pretty good!lol

Yoooo 😂
I can't pay all the bills and make you a partner. That shut down the arguement. I have gained MAD RESPECT for Beaz as a businessman and his business acumen
Willie HavMire fuck you dumb ass nigga
from what i heard, lux wasn't requesting $40,000 in cash. he devised a plan to not only make him the 40K but also to make smack more money. before uw did the pay per view thing, lux was throwing the idea of doing a pay per view for summer madness to recoup expenses.
everyone says he's greedy because he's "asking for 40k" but he had a plan including doing a pay per view to make everyone more money and url didn't want to switch anything up.
also, keep in mind that url gave mook $25,000 without a second thought for a lackluster, forgettable performance upon his return against iron solomon.
thisismyusername They didn't play him to have a boring performance.
Beasley knows his shit , very business minded
+clever1er .. he's a business partner of a successful business, are you?
+SuperTruthful LOL you schooled clever1er.
+clever1er proof?
fjbjjnjb66 Beasley knows numbers. But he's not tricking people into signing.
obviously they cant afford that amount of money but this video just breaks it down for the person who doesn't understand basic economics and how money really works.
its nice to see these guys get this kind of paper. Alot has changed since 2006. So to see these brothers get that paper is grand
Real talk. Finally a real nigga comment
DJ Ell Ess yeah you broke Asf tho
PackmanPippenTv yes you are so correct lol
Vince carter looking nigga got a point, loaded deserves to get paid for his status and work put in for the culture but he can't break the bank
Thank God Beasley is running things for URL. If they didn't have his business savy they would be fucked.
I believe Ars gave Lux $60K and Hollow $30K. Call it taking a risk or whatever, but Ars making it happen.
Jess Blayze 40,000 is what they gave lux & 25,000 is what Hollow got
Jerz Lowrecords how do you know how much they got paid?
lux deserve 40k because if it wasnt for him who knows where u would be,
+Armenianhunni oh he's gettin that now, or around there!
+Armenianhunni ..They would be where they are today, Lux, was popping until the battle with Calico, listen to the interview.
+Sean P4P try more towards 60. Crazy honestly
crazy... comments like these should be flagged
+SmokezZ 908 100%... pure idiocy...
Damn i didn't know Anderson Silva could speak this good ol shiny birdman head ass boaa 💀
The real question is where else is Lux getting money to where he can just deny 10 to 20k to battle? Lux doesn't have a job and it's not like he's a platinum selling artist , I would battle my mama for 10 to 20k.
Illegal activities would be my guess.
Prolly struggling... He just not dumb n know his worth... Clips(one of the highest paid at the time) did 8 battles for 50k... Lux got 50+ for 2...
Beasley is a very well spoken, sharp business minded man. Much respect.
for all you ppl saying that lux is greedy LISTEN to this
Hollow whole theme was that Lux was being greedy for wanting 40k to battle but Lux made all that battle rappers that was rapping that day the most money they ever made in their life and he told Hollow to thank him later.
So all you ignorant non thinker new born fans saying lux is being greedy, well he just made your favorite battle rapper big money...
do u really believe that ONE battle evemt brought in MILLIONS of dollars?? are you crazy?
Too bad that Lux vs Hollow battle put Arsonal's league on life support for a long ass time.
Mt. Rushmore of Battle Rap Comments. Bc when smack etc saw how effective the biz model was they got greedy asf contracts. Ars wasn’t having it.
My question is how the fuck ars came up wit 40k lol
In the middle ground I say take the 20k and set up some type of way to get paid off of residuals...I know its difficult to do with battle rap but there has to be a way to get $$ off the back end as well.
it doesn't do any good now...since Arsonal already booked that match!!
When did Terrell Owens get his skin bleached?
I enjoyed just hearing him talk about all the business aspects of things... Word.
#Soup
he still got 40 k
Great points! The line between business and art is blurred nowadays.
Beasley looks like Anderson silva
It’s normal
Good interview, aint about right or wrong its about compromise and a happy medium, hope they all work it out 2/3 years from now battle rap is gonna look a whole lot different the presentation the packaging the management and the sponsorship that will be guiding it better get that shit str8 from now, a lot of companies business whatever have no idea how to handle rapid growth goes for individuals to & it can make or break you.
And then Udubb made it happen???
udubb dead bro horrible choices
@Ryan Wolff They met their goals..
You know how you inspire guys not to joke and bring their absolute best is you make the pay out based on victory again and have judges.
It's going to be interesting to see if Arsonal will actually be able to capitalize off of this battle and make a profit.
This man knows exactly what he's talking about. All of these people that don't know the business (or business in general), need to fall back, and stay in their lane. Lux is one of the greatest battle rappers of all time, no doubt, but he is not a business man/owner.
I think Beasley is a very handsome man and he's so mellow and laid back.
Does Beasley do the intro's for all URL battles???
7:30 starts the best part of the interview. He saying that yeah it's dope that Lux came back and had an epic battle but truth be told, we had the same amount of people show up the year before. He had no effect on income stream.
Shoutout to Beasley for never losing his cool. He does a good job explaining himself.
But y'all making millions and hella sponsors Lux was right y'all wanna give them pennies for they craft
Millions?
I agree with Beasley on this from a economic standpoint it does not make since to pay on person that much money for one battle
Beasley was absolute right about the bootleg streams it was up the same day but they already made 10 million that day
I don't think it was 10 million
FPtube Lol not even...
Beasley majored in Political Science; nigga sounds like he could convince snow not to fall in the winter.
+SuperTruthful He doesn't know hes talking out of his ass.
Smack is the face and Beasley pulls the strings.
Don't be one of those people that complains about people getting what they're deserved but throws a blind eye to the host/funder/owners
lux is the reason there where they at right now
it's actually a lot worse than that. they pay an estimated .3 cents per view and that's IF the person watches the entire commercial before the video.
Bet they wish they paid that 40k. haa
Why do you say that? You realise that Lux battle essentially ruined the UW league, right?
mrSnakeeye20 I think they lost so much money on his battle with Hollow they pretty much went out of business.
tlig no they didn't.
I clicked on this video thinking it was an Anderson Silva interview lmao
Is it just me or does Beasley look like he could be Math Hoffa older brother, lol.
#FistUp
B) Word to his points.
Where are them videos now? Play with Pay Per View if you want...
See, I honestly didn't know that. So Thank you for educating me rather than attacking my level of intelligence on this topic with your response. They need to look into that then is what this means now.
Beasley knows his business life. Real talk. Got to be realistic when talking about a business.
I meant PPV not poverty! Fucken autocorrect.
All they need to do is set up all the battles via PPV. That will take battle rap to a whole other level. People will pay for what they want to see...
***** No. They haven't done it yet to my knowledge..
in every business, Apple to SMACK, you need that dude who connects on the business end and need that dude that connect on the consumer end. Beasely is the business end, SMACK is the consumer end.
I can just tell by how Beasely articulates his words, he has some higher education on this economic shit.
good interview.... wasn't familiar with beasley but definitely respect his mindset now
Well spoken
Then 4 months after this interview, UDubb gave Lux the 40k. Lol
Beasley streaming is not a negative aspect especially for the URL if anything it would help the culture
Can't you use livestreeam to do what they want around 13:30?
....another thing is, all these ppl saying Lux asked for forty.
To give you a lil insight on what that costs/what we have paid total in the past, and keep in mind these are national acts and
he said it...people wont appreciate the fact they have to pay for something they have had for free for YEARS
Mook wasn't ass.
I didn't know URL was required to pay for the battlers travel and hotel expenses, its understandable in a way though.
you are more than welcome. i'm glad i could give you the other side of the coin we call business. be well and have a nice day.
Doc
Is anybody starting to think that this might be a publicity stunt?
"I'm a little skep-ti-Cal, had my ppl investigate you pal."
"......and Beasely you lying."
Real talk and that is how business is always handled and constructed. Never heard of this guy, always see Smack on video, but this guy needs to teach business at some university.
Beasley kept it funky. The employee will never make more than the CEO.
But you have to come up with that doe
man beasley brought things into perspective for me, i too wondered about the pay-per-view thing
