Comparing the Holley Sniper EFI vs Carburetor on a Willys Jeep

  • The first section showcases EFI on some pretty extreme angles - any steeper and I’d be on my lid. Second was fuel mileage. Third was 0 to 50 mpg times. What can I say... I love my Holley Sniper setup.

Love seeing the sniper work well on the Willys. I had one on my CJ8. Loved it. Not sure if you know or not, but you can adjust the range on the RPMs to a lower number than 20k. It makes it more visible. I had it set to 6k max on my CJ8. Have fun with it. I enjoy your videos.

EFI will ALWAYS be better than any carb setup especially if ACTUALLY wheeling and going up steep grades as carbs tend to starve of fuel in those instances. I remember running an Edelbrock EFI kit on my S10 many years ago now when they first came out. Took ALOT of dialing in and tuning and just never could seem to get it 100% right. I eventually sold it to another kid for his ol Nova and he ran into the same issues I did, and it was far from an inexpensive kit.

This is awesome man! I’ve been thinking about a sniper on L134 for a bit and your vid series popped up. Thanks for all the leg work to you’ve done for the community. Any chance you’ll be doing a batch of the adapters for the sniper? I’d be interested if you are and there might be others

Can't you buy/modify/swap out to a smaller diameter pulley for the existing alternator to increase the rpm at low speed and thereby increase charge/voltage output? Greetings from Scotland by the way ....

You know, after seeing this efi put on. I thought it would be a good option for smaller 4 cyl engines. I know its designed for a 6 though. So I called Holley, and asked a simple question " what is the smallest displacement this will work with". There really wasn't a answer. Just thats it designed with a 6 in mind. I mentioned your Willys install... With a return line, this Sniper should eliminate vapor lock too. Thats the selling point for me. Old French cars love to boil the gas in the middle of a intersection!
On a draw back side, they will not sell the ecu separate. When something goes bad, you must ship the whole thing back... Something about having it gently cook above the engine doesn't sit well with me... Just saying.

@@TurnNBurn OK. If I were you, I'd go to the next step and get solid state ignition with a crank position sensor and 4 individual coils. Also, how much excess fuel flow and pressure does the pump give for your 60hp engine? Maybe a couple of amps could be saved there?

THEY DONT COST A HILL OF BEANS ,ITS THE SMALLEST I COULD FIND.. My system was installed on a 76 chevy k20 suburban with a low deck 427. The system ran perfectly until "that day". We were 12 miles down rough Colorado back country trails. Now she is carb again and I'll never go back. Factory fuel injection is great but aftermarket is no good for trails were they can leave you in a bad way. At least that is my experience

A carb kit and a gas jug on the roof is all that's needed with a carb. Fuel pump is gravity feed. Now my 70 Javelin runs aftermarket efi and I'll stick with it because I'll never be in a bad way like a backcountry trip.
