About to order this. But I have one important question first: will this device work with an existing Home Assistant instance? I __don't__ mean copying existing configurations to it -- but rather, can I link my current Home Assistant to the device somehow, so that all those devices will show up on the device, and that devices added to the device will be linked to my Home Assistant? So just replace the devices internal Home Assistant with an existing instance? If so, sold. Looks really cool.
if I already have a Home Assistant yellow, can I just buy this device and sign into my existing Home Assistant account and keep the Home Assistant yellow running as well? Also, does it respond to the word Alexa, thus negating the need for my echo show?
Sorry I'm a bit slow on this stuff, I have aqara sensors and hub, would I still need the hub for this gateway to detect the aqara sensors... They are all recent purchases and matter...? Thanks 👍 great videos.

They hadn’t anticipated this many orders and have been putting all their resource into stocking and shipping. To my knowledge nothing has changed yet, but to be fair I haven’t been testing it. Since Theo was born I have zero free time
no they want to make everything cloud based because.. that's half their business if not more. then complain that running Alexa servers is not profitable.
@@MitcyDupres it's coming. Who would have guessed selling people's information and their lack of enthusiasm to more subscription services would make a fully cloud based system not profitable
He's slipping badly. Also missed the opportunity to refer to 'Royal Philips' (that is legitimately the full company name) as 'that company from the nether regions', a perfectly legitimate translation of 'Nederlands' from Dutch into English.
I've ordered it, from kickstarter and I've already 3D printed the wall mount and marked its location. One thing to mention, it also comes with a BT remote with chatGPT functionality, and there will be an android app so you can "walk around with it" I'm hoping mine is in the post in the next week or two.....soooooo excited!
@@easytiger24 or are you referring to the iSG Box? That is pretty much Linknlink's own version of the HA Green, it's the operating system without a screen in a box. The kickstarter has closed so you will need to order from their website.
Ordered with your link with your discount. For the price could be one of my best gadgets. Hope you do more videos about it so we can take full advantage of it
Ordered, with a lovely discount too. Thanks Paul. Great timing as I’ve just started setting up a smart home and a smart takeaway (yes you read that right) after following a lot of your videos and advice.
I’m very excited about this product. Makes me more willing to try companies outside of my usual goto . And this is going to make setting up my parents house soooo much easier. My mom doesn’t walk so easy anymore so I have set up a remote for her lights, set up easy commands and timers on things. We started one room at a time to ease her into it. Starting with the upstairs so she doesn’t have to climb them when my dad doesn’t turn off lights. Vibration sensors and all kinds of things. You are my main source, I love your jokes and watch even if I don’t need the product focus. Keep it up !!
Couple of questions: 1) How are they working with Tuya locally? Thought it was not possible. 2) Would it be compatible with an external existing version of Home Assistant? Thanks :)
Great video, as always, Paul. In my house I have a mixture of Philips Heuurrggh, Samsung Smartthings and Govee, all being controlled by Google Home (sorry). How would this device fit in? Would it replace Smartthings? How do we control things from another device, like a phone? Google Home app?
I just ordered one. I’m in the US and wonder how long it’ll take. 🤔 Excited none the less. Thanks for the videos! Great job. Even my younger son likes to watch them. He thinks you’re hilarious! Keep up the good work.
Is there any mention of when these will ship? I preordered directly from the link. It just says preorder. The kickstarter said March 2024 for delivery of backer rewards. Just wondering what the plan is for direct orders.
I get what you’re saying, but I update Home Assistant regularly and nothing ever changes. Plenty of things break 😂 but nothing major changes. Now and then something big comes along, but then so will these updates for LinknLink
that is very nice! Planning to replace my home assistant current set up with this! I always wanted something that need no subscription and it is user friendly enough for my wife to use it.
Thanks for the video. It's an interesting product. Is there a link to a complete list of products/protocols ISG can handle? Like Denon? Samsung? Roku boxes?
Understandable that LnL would want HA updated in step with their own software, it's all got to play nicely together and that's going to take a bit of checking with each release.
Not having a battery might be intentional and a plus. smarthome dashboards often have a fixed placement and permanent power. that could damage the battery over time. maybe having it as an option would be nice for future models.
Thank you for the suggestion! You're right - batteries are relatively inexpensive. However, we don't include them for international sales purposes. Battery certifications can be costly, and they often create shipping complications. The iSG's micro USB port supports power input, so you can easily use a power bank as a portable battery solution if needed :)
@@LinknLinkSmart Consider allowing the user to BYOD or bring their own device and sell your integration as a licensed product. This would avoid your battery and shipping issues and allow flexibility to the end user.
can you replace the storage or add additional storage? HA can be very read/write intensive on storage and wear it out quickly. if you are unable to replace the storage... this might turn into a paper weight after a few years.
Great review. Paul, Big question for you with your extensive use of Home Assistant would you replace your server with this product. I have seen this as a kickstarter and was waiting for it be "released"
Never used HA as it was too much time consuming for me BUT......this looks very promising so do you have to be well versed in the HA ability to use it? This does control your home locally? Please advise and thanks for the humor and these informative vlogs!
Yup all local and really easy tog et to grips with. The Home Assistant apect is as easy or as complicated as you want it to be, doing the basics is really easy 😊
@paulhibbert thanks for this as this is what I have been looking for! Just ordered or pre-ordered and using your discount saved me some money!!! Didn't say when it would be shipped but will let you know when I get this and finally jump down the locally controlled rabbit hole!! Please keep these vlogs going....👍👍
looks like a great way to get someone into smarthomes. Liking the simple interface and the integrations available let's hope this encourages more developers/competition.
Very good video, as always. Thank you very much. But one question, have i to reset every smart life device (i have more than 50) to use them in the Dashboard? Thanks
So will you be able to import your current Home Assistant setup? What about if you are using an SSD? Would be nice if you could jet unplug your current SSD into this and go.
Excellently timed, Paul! I'm reduced to using mechanical light switches like some sort of savage! Alexa is claiming all my Zigbee devices are 'Device unresponsive' again. It may be time to fire her and make it stick!
Hey! I have this. Got it through their Kickstarter, but I couldn't get it working right and gave up. Maybe I'll give it another shot. I thought it would be easier to set up asks just didn't have time to to let with it.
Do you know if LinknLink will offer their integration/software as a self install on owner's own table? I think having tablet with battery for portability would make this even better.
Yes we are working on it to allow users to import their devices connected to their own HA system to iSG - no need to do it again. But this won't be available in our first released software and will be available thru an update (in month). For more questions or inquiries, please feel free to contact our support by email or live chat :)
Thanks for the code. It saved me 40$. It is sold out but I preordered it and soon hope to replace my PI. The full local Tuya without tuya account and codes keys will be great.

Brilliant video Paul. This looks like a great device for spouse approval which I desperately need. Having many problems with our mix of devices and things not working without internet connection or after power outages. Happy to say I have ordered one and used your code.
Really nice idea with an all in one and custom dashboard, got some concerns though can't see in shop where it's sent from, no about us info in shop, chat is not responding and their whatsapp is not valid, how fast are it going to get updates and when it does not sell that much anymore are updates just gonna halt.
How long does it take to arrive, and is it common practice for them to send the item in two parts... ive received the Ethernet Adapter / UK but not the LinknLink iSG Display Max - ordered 19th of September.
I am really happy with my HA back end. It runs on a super fast Dell mini PC and has been rock solid - so wouldn't want to change that at all or stuff up my zigbee network if say this device hijaked my zigbee network. But I've been after a easy to set up and supported HA touchscreen for ages. I don't want to run two versions of HA (or HA projects) in my house. Just to get this right - I can use this as a dumb front end Touchscreen to control my HA backend.... correct?
Not yet 😉 I’m not allowed to say anything more at this point as things are always in flux, but LinknLink have big plans for improving integration with home assistant in more than one way
@@paulhibbert Ok. Thanks for that Paul. Kindly let us know when it's seamless. As you no doubt know anyone who's played around building a HA server (and platform) for some time would really just want to leave their server alone and get a plug and play touchscreen. They don't want (yet another) third party (unsupported) device that works (for a while) then fails with an inevitable firmware upgrade. And they certainly don't want something that would mess with their zigbee network or screw up and complicate what they have spent hrs/months/yrs building already. Or have to port their HA project onto way slower hardware. Cheers
Sorry I'm a bit slow on this stuff, I have aqara sensors and hub, would I still need the hub for this gateway to detect the aqara sensors... They are all recent purchases and matter...? Thanks 👍 great videos.
That’s a difficult one to answer with 100% certainty. Contact sensors should work directly with the ISG interface. All other aqara stuff would need to be added to the Home Assistant side of this but you can’t do that yet because the Zigbee radio isn’t yet accessible to Home Assistant. So the answer is that you wouldn’t need the aqara gateway in the future, for now you would need the aqara hub and you would have to add it using the Apple HomeKit integration in home assistant (you don’t need to actually own any Apple HomeKit devices to do this). I have tested none of this though, so I just tell you I’m speaking theoretically!
@@paulhibbert Thanks Paul, makes me feel as though it wasnt such a stupid question after all. Youve done enough to convince me to buy one so it is now on pre order using your discount was only £133. 🙂
We already considered this :) In the future (probably 3-6 months) we are going to release a client software allowing users to install on any Android table to work as slave devices (require to purchase license)
Well, yeah, it's sold out. Does look like a very nice product at an ok price. I love the idea of a Home Assistant apk, it should be a thing. Local Tuya support is also great. Having both battery and powered options would be great. Good video as always.
Another superb vid - I'm really interested in this, but have one reservation - I wonder if there's a way to import my current home assistant setup. Not sure I could bear to set all that up again manually from scratch 😂
Just starting out and have some Tuya and Philips. I was looking at Hubitat from your previous videos. Would this work with Hubitat or is this instead of Hubitat if I wanted to add Z-wave and maybe ZigBee? Thanks
Looks like a solution to the Amazon or Google choice dilemma! I am really tempted to purchase it because my Google home mini and both of my echo dots have become unusable due to glitches I can't resolve and Google Assistant on my TV wants to look up UA-cam videos for most things I ask it.
Would you happen to know if the Linknlink ISG can connect and work with a standalone Home Assistant (eg the one I already have running at home)? I’m not interested in running an APK version of Home Assistant (updates, as you mentioned, but also some advanced stuff like running containers), but the ISG device looks very interesting.
Love your vids. Question: Iam looking for a HUB and this seems like the one? However I want them to be able to show cameras like my Ring Doorbell especially if somebody rings the bell and allow me to use the Remootio app to open the gate? Is this possible on this.....I know in the Amazon hub it allows you do do this bit on other areas its mot as good as this.
The only concern is with Hangzhou in the company name. If it is truely all local, and I can firewall off connections to China, OK, but I assume that eliminates all the external control options. Still, it does look interesting.
Looks interesting, especially from a family accessibility perspective. I do all the HA stuff and no-one else at home knows how to deal with issues. Does the Broadlink control include Fastcon BLE lamps? I'm currently controlling my Fastcon lamps using a Zigbee motion sensor in HA and a routine in Alexa that turns the lamps on when motion is detected. Be good if I could just do that with a HA automation.
Thanks for your interest in iSG. We do support standard BroadLink devices but FastCon BLE is not a standard protocol - it is a proprietary wireless technology even BroadLink themselves don't advertise it as "BLE".
So it's $200 USD. I spent $75 and another $40 on my Amazon Tablet with a mount, and the tablet with a mount has numerous issues (literally, numerous) with Home Assistant, including and not limited to "breaking" every few minutes. I'll be looking into this, as the expense doesn't appear to be that much. What I'd like to know is how the power adapter works? Currently, I mount the tablet on a flush mount, and behind it is a recessed outlet, to which I plug the tablet into so it looks seamless without cables. Does this do the same? Thanks!
Paul from the future here. I nearly pissed meself. Amazing game changer piece of kit. Really makes it easy for anybody to get started with a proper local smarthome.
I was looking something similar to put in my hallway. I dont need battery i will connect it to the wall. To turn off lights when im leave home. Thanks For video!! Love your videos do what yoy are doing!!
This is really cool, too bad I already have a home assistant server AND a tablet as a hub….. I guess if it existed sooner, it wouldve been great for my home… Happy Saturday Paul!
For anyone thinking of setting up HA on a dedicated RPi but not wanting to shell out for yet another currently rather expensive Pi I recommend an alternative: An ex-lease Dell Wyse 3040 Thin Client or similar from a popular auction site. The 3040 can be got for as little as 30 bucks in either 8 or 16GB versions (emmc). Install casaOS and add HA as a docker container. This couldn't be simpler as casaOS offers HA as one of it's installable apps. It works great! But by running HA in a container you will lose the Addons menu option. No big deal. CasaOS for x86-64 is a clean install and sits on either Ubuntu or Debian (the installer does everything tho) - so no Windows OS is needed. Similarly priced thin clients from Lenovo and HP are also available in huge numbers - all more than capable of running HA.
Thank you so much for this advice! For a long time I wanted to start on home assistant, but I didn't know how and the raspberry pi is too expensive now. Now, I can get started on home assistant again. Is there one adapter I can buy that will make my computer compatible with everything like matter, zigbee and everything else?
Thank you seems very interesting this to test out if I can. I'm just receiving a new free SLite Samsung Tablet so this might be a good start for me to test it on if this is possible! Thanks Again and happy Trexing! 🙂
Hey Paul, quick question: Using the other USB port on the device, are you able to add a Z-Wave stick to add those devices to Home Assistant? Also, if you were to buy Nabu Casa's Zigbee and Thread stick, could you use that instead of the included Zigbee stick? Thanks for the time and help!
I think LinknLinks ultimate plan for this is to internalise the Zigbee radio and provide their own wave stick, but I’m not sure when. Whether or not the usb port would be detected by home assistant right here and now I’m not sure. Watch this space as I will undoubtedly have an update on this soon
Well Paul, got my answer. At the time of this comment, the USB A port on this can ONLY be used for the Zigbee radio. I unplugged the thing and tried to connect a Zooz 800 stick, and it would not connect in any way, including in HA. So until they update this thing, no Z-Wave for any user.
@paulhibbert there is also the issue of Tuya cameras. Yeah, you can add a Tuya camera to this thing, but you have NO SETTINGS for it, outside of the video feed being SD or HD. No audio, no talking through it, or even flipping the bloody image to match it's orientation.
Great product but i really want it to be more like a tablet that i can add apps to . Not sure it can do that and operate the way say , the SHow15 does. Love the show15 but the inability to use different apps is a pita - Can this ONLY control smart devices?

Brilliant video Paul. This looks like a great device for spouse approval which I desperately need. Having many problems with our mix of devices and things not working without internet connection or after power outages. Happy to say I have ordered one and used your code.
I think we will get AGI and humanoid helper robots before smart home tech becomes easy and reliable enough for the spouses to fully approve.
I’ve always loved your videos Paul. Jokes and all. This looks like an awesome bit of kit.
Just to get this right - I can use this as a dumb front end Touchscreen to control my HA backend.... correct?
Came here to ask this question. If it is possible, take my money!
Cheers
Is it better to buy this or HA Green?
Nice video Paul. This is an exciting dashboard particularly for beginners.
Great work as usual Paul. I note that you didn't mention the ISG box that's the same thing with no screen.
Interesting, I was thinking it would be good with the tablet separate so we could choose which tablet and get the battery support.
Paul, Great job as always!
…does this device have Thread capability too?
You sold me. I ordered, and thanks fo the discount :)
Can you run more than one of these, on the same network , at once?. I want multiple control panels throughout my house.
We already considered this :) In the future (probably 3-6 months) we are going to release a client software allowing users to install on any Android table to work as slave devices (require to purchase license)
Ohhhhhhhh, _that's_ why you want a ready room. Now I get it
Well, yeah, it's sold out. Does look like a very nice product at an ok price. I love the idea of a Home Assistant apk, it should be a thing. Local Tuya support is also great. Having both battery and powered options would be great. Good video as always.
Do we still need to pay extra to integrate Amazon so we can use voice commands?
I am currently using a habitat, how would this work? Can I just bring everything over? Or it will just tie in?
Another superb vid - I'm really interested in this, but have one reservation - I wonder if there's a way to import my current home assistant setup. Not sure I could bear to set all that up again manually from scratch 😂
Love the outtakes the have me laughing as much as the main video
Would you tally be wanting to walk around with Zigbee devices attached? Wouldn't it upset the network?
It was about time we saw Mr Sockie again
Just starting out and have some Tuya and Philips. I was looking at Hubitat from your previous videos. Would this work with Hubitat or is this instead of Hubitat if I wanted to add Z-wave and maybe ZigBee? Thanks
Looks like a solution to the Amazon or Google choice dilemma! I am really tempted to purchase it because my Google home mini and both of my echo dots have become unusable due to glitches I can't resolve and Google Assistant on my TV wants to look up UA-cam videos for most things I ask it.
I've received tracking information so should have mine soon ordered January
Will there be an update video for this product, showing your usage of it?
Ordered one . Tired of HomeKit not working within times and temps I set. Fingers crossed this works as well.
Ordered this off your video - still waiting delivery. Have you Any further updates on software fixes etc of this product ?
@@LinknLinkSmart ah okay. Thanks.
Happy Saturday Paul. Thank you.
nothing in the description for updates on what's wrong with it as said in the video?
Paul, have you any idea how many devices this gateway can handle?
This is really cool, too bad I already have a home assistant server AND a tablet as a hub….. I guess if it existed sooner, it wouldve been great for my home… Happy Saturday Paul!
For anyone thinking of setting up HA on a dedicated RPi but not wanting to shell out for yet another currently rather expensive Pi I recommend an alternative:
An ex-lease Dell Wyse 3040 Thin Client or similar from a popular auction site.
Hey Paul, quick question:
Using the other USB port on the device, are you able to add a Z-Wave stick to add those devices to Home Assistant?
@@AnimeMangaBazinga gah, yeah I guess that figures 😞 fingers crossed for an update soon!
I've been planning on buying a hubitat c8 but after watching this would this be a better solution?
