This is a super helpful tip, especially for beginners when you're not sure if you're ready to jump into the hobby or not.
But (to anyone reading) if you're doing clay a lot, seriously consider getting a pasta roller. It will save so much time and your hands. If your issue is the cost of the machine, consider how much time you'd save, and the potential pain. I've had hand issues in the past, and a brace costs more than a pasta machine. Especially so if you're using firmer clays like Fimo professional or Kato.
I held off for a long time since it takes up space, and I sometimes only craft maybe once a week, but it's life-changing how much easier conditioning clay and mixing is.
Excellent advice, thanks for sharing! 🙂
Too cool! With clay and clay tools in demand, theyre hard to find these days. Now instead of waiting weeks, I can do my cool design I was planning in the morning!
Hope you found it helpful. Happy creating, Sage! 🙂
I got a jumbo acrylic clay roller and waterproof, regular, and jumbo playing cards. For my needs, I actually prefer this to fussing with pasta machines and cleaning them. (So far, I sculpt, roll out backing sheets, and use opal clay far more than I create canes.)
Sounds like you've got it figured out, Karen! :-D
This is so clever! I wouldn’t have thought of this!
😀👍
You're a genius ❤
You’re very kind to say so. 😊
Thank you for always being so helpful
Always happy to help! 😃
On wow...that is genius! I've got an old UNO deck somewhere that I could use for this.
I like the way ya think ❤️
My broke butt is using a pipe with tape spun around each end for a height adjustment 😄 it ain't purdy but it is working so far. Thank you for taking the time to share your tips 🙂
Sounds like a good hack! 😎 You can also use rubber bands on the ends of the pipe as spacers. Happy creating
Great tips! Really needed easy simple way to measure thickness! Perfect! TFS!!❤
Thanks for letting me know you found the video helpful! 😀
@Keepsake Crafts by Sandy Huntress Subscribed too! Glad you popped up on my thread!😁
This is brilliant! Thanks for sharing
You are welcome, glad you like it. 😀👍
Thank you very much!!
You are very welcome, Margaret! 🙂
Great idea!
Thanks!
I found your channel today, and I loved your playing cards rolling tips.
It's obvious from your models that you have been doing this for a good while, great work ❤
I am very new to fimo and just made a snooker table for my dads birthday.
Snooker is like Pool if you don't know it (I think you sound American).
My table is OK but not great, its uneaven.
When attempting to make a long flat piece for the tables felt, I struggled with the clay sticking to the board after rolling.
Do you have any advice, please?
Could it be that I'm not warming up the clay enough?
I am an absolute beginner, this is my third model 😂
I'm enjoying it so far, though.
Welcome to the channel! Thanks for the nice comments. I’m glad you like what you see here.
You said you were rolling your clay on a board? What kind of board?
What we usually use is a smooth ceramic tile. The clay will stick to that enough for us to be able to shape it, but then you use a 6 inch long blade to remove it from the tile. If you do it carefully, sliding the blade at about a 45° angle under the clay it should lift it up without distorting.
Have you checked out the Blue Bottle Tree website? It is a wealth of polymer clay resources and information, especially for newbies.
Hope this helps, happy creating!
@@SandyHuntress @Keepsake Crafts by Sandy Huntress thanks for the lengthy reply.
I'm just using a perspex board atm. I'll look into what you said.
😘
genius!!! ♥️
Thanks! ☺️
Was I thinking that loudly, or were you? I just bought some Dollar tree cards and a glue stick. Planning to glue me up some guides for when I am only doing little bits of clay. Lol! I also thought about cutting out the inside of the card to use as a frame to keep texture sheets from going all the way through.
Oh, good idea, a glue stick would work well, too! Isn't that funny, that we both we're thinking the same thing?
Happy creating, Beverley!
@@SandyHuntress I think it's awesome. Happy creating.
So...I'm screwed if I want it 11 cards thick?.....
If you can add, you can make any thickness you want. Stack together fives and sixes, and there you go, 11. 😀
Great idea!
Thanks! 😊
