Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Jason McGovern, Patrick Tyrant and Adam Osper as Tottenham's late turnaround secured a 2-1 win over Championship side Coventry to progress to the Carabao Cup fourth round and keep four trophies available to Ange Postecoglou in his pursuit of second-season silverware.
Postecoglou took some by surprise when he fielded a side full of fringe players, days after making a point of saying that he "always" wins trophies in the second season at his clubs. Ultimately, his stars had to come on to rescue the game.
Coventry were superior side throughout and led until two minutes from regulation time after Brandon-Thomas Asante's opener just past the hour. They could have been further ahead but Ben Davies stopped Haji Wright's goalbound shot.

The only stat that concerns me is that Ange is the only manager to have two summer transfer windows since Poch, which was five years ago!! We won ugly and when other teams do it, they get praised for it, so enjoy the win. We still need to tweek and adapt but that takes time! Im not turning my back on our club, players or manager, especially when time and patience is needed to get through tough periods that ALL teams got through at the start of a build or rebuild.

Pretty common to blood young midfielders like Gray in the full back positions till they're up to speed . Great place to learn the defensive side without costing the team .Kulusevski the biggest improvement for me , the guy is basically the man in this team now. Mate Forster running into Dragusin is a heavyweight collision.

I’ve not long got back from the game, almost 4 hours thanks to closed roads and miles and miles of roadworks. Utterly dreadful performance, no confidence, no direction and extremely lucky…..Bergvall, Gray and Spence excellent and deserve more game time. Delighted for Johnson…..I’ll never get the hate towards him.

The allegation that Ange is responsible for the players we bought is dubious knowing the influence the chairman has on the budget. The deck clearing has been great. Last night highlighted the change isn't done. It never is, there's players to move on , players to buy and players to synch together

Ange plays the young players then the panel complain and say in disbelief he made too many changes with too many young players starting. There's no pleasing these guys. I doubt anyone will take this comment too serious but genuinely here it is.
Since 2019 (bearing in mind ive been a fan since i was born.) This club has ruined football for me, not because we're bad or lose games, damn we lost games and were badish in the 90's but we somehow made it worth it by winning a trophy. The reality is in 50 - 100 years nobody is going to care who made champions league football but instead who won various trophies
We had one manager that took us to the brink, only to sack him 6 months later. Respectfully it was a joke then its a joke now.
As far as ange goes for me he's clearly going to be sacked this season, the style of play the stats everything is against him we have not been anywhere near constant since that loss to Chelsea strangely enough people say that night was real ange ball (I was proud too) but in reality that's where it died it reinforced the stubborn approach the manager had and thus will lead to his downfall (I hope I'm wrong) but since 2019 I've never been able to enjoy/have the connection with this club i should have. I've seen the 90's and 00's 1st hand and was always of the belief that we are Tottenham we try to win something but in these recent years that's been drained out of me.
We lost the 2019 UCL final. it was tough but to get rid of the man that got us there, that's something still to this day i genuinely cant understand
    love the pod/vid as always

This club - we never do things the easy way do we! Lets be honest we got out of jail big time tonite (largely as a result of the line up we started with - was ange trying to lose the game with that starting eleven?). After this near debacle i guess there are now two ways of looking at things for us at the moment - either tonite will be one of those games that proves to be a turning point in a club's fortunes or it's just delaying the end of another manager and another 'project' at tottenham under Levy. And looking at the way our results have nosedived since we thumped villa in march im beginning to worry it's the latter. But wins breed confidence (whoever they are against). And if we can now beat brentford and qarabag at home - which we really should - 3 wins on the bounce could work wonders for this squad's fragile confidence and maybe we can then push on for the rest of the season.

The players started at walking pace and couldnt get out of their half for first few minutes. Either they are tired through over training or they have been told to play like that. I suggest both. Solanke never had a pass or a cross in the first half. When Werner had the ball he generally had only one option for a pass. This was quickly cut off. Dont blame him.

  • @paulgee1952

Same problem of easy ball to willing runners down the channels when full backs too high with the press . Two players one in channel one in the box and undone. The transition out ball without VDV pace to clear up, is very much a problem with the system ,that also is failing on set pieces . It is something that the Manager has to address ,lest it become another recurring theme . Poor night for chances created, again shows the growing pains and shortfalls in the squad , although the rotation is very much required to keep players ready. In the hat for next round so a positive with Djed Spence looking like someone willing to push for minutes and make progress, also a good sign.

Can we stop comparing Ange to Arteta? They have nothing in common. Arteta was 36 and his first job. Ange is 59, been coaching for 20+ years? Hes the oldest manager in the PL.
Arteta had to get rid of most of the players from the squad he inherited. He won an FA Cup. Had to force the club captain and top goal scorer Aubameyang out. Ange signed most of his starting 11 in the first window and rarely changes from it unless forced to through injury. His run of results in 2024 is poor. Spurs have only picked up 6 more points than Everton in that span. I see no difference between Ange, Jose and Conte. All had cult like followings. All refer to their past successes. The only difference is Ange says Mate.
If Spurs truly want to hire a manager like Arteta. Hire a young manager under 40, actually play the kids and don't sack him when Spurs finish below midtable.

    Ange OUT!!!
We have supported him from day 1 but since towards end of last season he comes across as an arrogant person I believe the praises from the pundit and the media etc has gone to his head. How dare he critique us spurs fans last season in the city game. He should know more than anyone as a Tottenham manager he should understand we can’t let arsenal win the league and he still had the audacity to take it out on us especially when before the city game h the fella lost 3 games on a trot and on top of that he doesn’t have it in him to beat top teams. This season 4 points out of all games is beyond a joke and I say it again he can’t beat big teams and honestly I want him OUT ASAP. Transfer window was rubbish ange chose to bring in young players who may or may not be good but hardly bought in any experience players which clearly is costing us and no it’s not only his fault it’s that greedy twerp levy’s fault as well. I’m glad Johnson and djed Spence scored today they needed that and will aways have my support and the only way is up for them. Also which manager would put 4 goalkeepers in the Europa league squad like wtf. Djed spence deserved that spot… like I said it’s all going tits up and luckily ange had a lucky escape today with the late win.
He needs to wake up ange and come up with a plan B if not bye bye ange.
