Sobrang humble ni ateng nursing, ang daming advantage ng nursing nadiscuss ang Ana & Physio, Pharma, OB, Pedia, Internal, Med-Surg, etc sa nursing so magdelve deeper na lang sya sa med pero familiar na sya so magswitch na lang sya ng view to physician care. Kudos to all our future doctors!

I can't blame her for being humble tho, being a nurse myself (did not do med kasi I wanted to do IT; so ayun, I do medical informatics now). A nurse, being like a yin to the doctor's yang (doctors diagnose via their system/school of thought which is normally biomedical in concept; nurses also diagnose in their own way normally supported by a holistic approach), has a way of seeing and accessing the healthcare system as a whole. Meaning nun, ANG LAKI ng scope kaagad, not anymore just the core nursing process that is essential to the practice. Dahil dun, yes, some may be confident in saying they've touched on a lot about healthcare in general (kasi nursing does that talaga), pero that doesn't mean extensive or deep yung pag-"touch", which makes some other not as confident with their background. It's a weird double-edged sword for the nurse, esp. when she/he decides to do med.
Still pharmacy is still the best premed
Sabi ng Clinical Instructor namin, malalaman mo daw talaga agad kapag ang isang Doctor ay kumuha ng Nursing as premed. The way they treat their patient is different. ❤️ Kaya hindi daw kami nagkamali sa napili naming premed.
They are so humble when talking about their Pre-med. They don’t try to outshine each other. Indeed a Thomasian value. 🐯

Kapag nurse ka alam mo or naiintindihan mo yung doctors order.dika rin takot humawak ng pasyente.magaling kana din sa ibat ibang procedure na ginagawa sa patient. Like yung mga basic.such as medication administration, vital signs etc..

I feel you, ngayong pasukan mag grade 11 pa ako pero iniisip ko na anong kukunin kong course pag college pero sure ako med related kukunin ko pero hindi ko alam if pharmacy, medtech or nursing kukunin ko hays

Same rin po. grade 9 ako this school year pero iniisip kona kung anong course ang gusto kung itake in the future na related sa med since last year dahil nag ka take interest ako sa medicine at that time. It's also between nursing or med-tech because gi recommend saakin to ng parents ko and I can't choose between the two dahil maganda siya at maraming advantages para sa med school (in my opinion lng po)

I once wished na mag med (medtech sana ako) pero we cant afford :-(( ending, i took up bs in accountancy and graduated last year. so sad to see today na trying times naiisip ko "sana isa ako sa mga nakakatulong sa bansa" pero wala eh, isa lang ako sa mga maraming pinoy na working from home. :-(( pero im still hoping one day sana makapag nmat ako. i know its hard kasi wala akong background like sa inyong 5 pero sana kayanin ko

I think you could still enroll in a med school. As long as you pass the NMAT. Someone once told that it's all back to zero once you're enrolled
Add ko lang 🙂 Actually Physical therapy has a lot of advantages also. Anatomy and physiology were studied in the same depth and manner as med students. We also had cadaver dissection, pathology, kinesiology, psychiatry, pharma, diff diag, med surg from msk to neuro to general. Also, we use the same books as the med students like netter, moore, guyton, berne & levy, robbins, goodman, cmdt etc. Plus we get to also handle real patients, rotate for 10-11 mos on diff hospitals both OPD and IPD. The only disadvantage is we didn't get to go deep on chem + it's a 5-year course but that's ok because no course is perfect for med school 🙂

I finally found this kind of content. I am 1st year nursing student and actually, pursuing nursing is very hard talaga although 1st year palang ako. Hindi talaga nursing yung want ko kunin kasi pharmacy talaga want ko but nursing got my attention then ayun nagka-interesado ako, but now i am not happy hindi na ako passionate like parang ayoko na syang i pursue sobrang nahirapan talaga ako. Hindi ko alam if mag shishift ako or what huhu. I just want to share lang po huhu. Godbless!!!🩺❤

I am taking BS in Respiratory Therapy po as my pre-med. The unfamiliar and unrecognized pre-med in PH. Specialized po sila sa Cardiology and Pulmonary. Kahit ano naman pong pre-med course meron kanya-kanyang strength pagdating sa Med school. The most important thing is to help yourself to survive sa Med school and passion mo talaga ang pagiging future doctor. hehehe. 😊

i love this!!! thank you for sharing your experiences! aaah i'm an incoming college student and i have decided to study psychology in college! i was so happy to see a psych undergrad here ;____; and super true na hindi mo talaga malalaman kung anong mangyayari in the future years. i also super believe na you should choose something you're very interested in. that's why i will still push with psych kahit madaming nagsasabi na it's not that helpful for med school.

My dream is to become a Doctor since when I was in Elementary. My dream course is Nursing pero 'di namin afford so BS Accountancy grinaduate ko and also finished 18 units for Teaching. Im currently taking biology because it is really my interest when i was in hs and being a doctor wasnt really in my plan. But the more i learn about the program, mas na pupush akong tumuloy magmed, kaso iisipin pa kang yung gastos myghaadd. Baka magmicrobio nalang ako hahahaha

I'm a grade 12 student, and indecisive pa po ako sa pre-med ko, firstly kasi baka hindi po namin kayanin financially, tsaka talagang hindi ko alam gusto ko. I'm a BS Biology graduate now working as a Medical Reviewer. Honestly, may kanya kanya talagang "advantages" yung iba't ibang pre-med courses so you can't really say na "best" pre-med course yung ganito, ganyan. My advice lang siguro if gusto mong magpurse ng Medicine is alamin mo kung ano yung passion mo. Alamin mo kung saan ka interested para habang natututo ka, naeestablish na rin yung "mindset" mo sa Med. Kasi yung iba along the way, nabuburn out.
Like for example, kapag about ortho yung complaint ng patient ko, may background naman ako kasi may Human Anatomy and Physiology kaming subject under BS Biology program pero mas malupit ang OT/PT pagdating sa Ana & Physio.
Tapos kapag MedTech/RadTech, saludo ako sa kanila kasi mamaw sa mga technicalities sa lab. Yung step by step procedure alam nila lahat. Histology, Biotechnology, Immunology usually mga strengths nila.
For me, wala siguro sa pre-med course 'yun kung mag-eexcel ka ba sa Med or what. Siguro kung na-establish mo na yung passion mo nung undergrad ka pa lang, mas madali na maka-keep up sa Med. You'll meet a lot of people naman that will help you along the way. Keep that fire burning! Kayo na ang susunod na bayani ng bayan 💚

After watching this video, my dreams of being a doctor came back. I stopped dreaming about it, kase takot ako sa blood, and needles. I would faint, if hindi ko ma control yung breathing ko. Madami na din yung nagsabi sakin na, mawawala nalang daw yung fear ko. Sana naman magkatotoo yon, kase as in kahit hindi ako magaling sa math pangarap ko talaga maging doctora po.

BS Nursing is a good pre-med course, hindi ka na hirap pagdating sa clinical setting. Ang disadvantage lang is may knowledge ka sa maraming topics, pero lahat ay superficial lang. God bless to our future doctors.

I salute med students lalo na yung kadorm ko*pinsan ko she is also 2nd yr. Med pharma grad at UST, me as an arki we do all work all night lagi ko syang kasama lagi syang nag rereview bago pumasok pag uwi ng dorm aral agad sya. Lagi nyang sinasabi "kaya natin 'to" lagi lang positive she do all work done para daw mag ka time sa sarili and nakaka inspire yung hard work nya so I do so rin... Totoo na walang specific na mahirap na profession kung pag sisipagan...

You guys really inspire me. I want to be a doctor in the future but there are thoughts na parang pumipigil sakin. Being a doctor takes a lot of time, I'm afraid na baka hindi ko magawa 'yung maraming bagay. Like traveling, spoiling my parents with my own money and syempre having my own family :((
I won't sugarcoat it, you'll have to sacrifice A LOT to become a doctor. Do yourself a favor and find it in your heart kung gusto mo talaga ☺️ You don't have to be 100% sure but know that you have to be committed to your decision because it won't only be yourself (nor your family) that you'll be serving. Your life will be a part of the lives of many people. ❤️

All pre-med are unique and hard at the same time. But i sometimes think so doubtful between choosing bsmls and bsn. But I felt it in my heart that I really want to study Nursing. And so I took it ☺️ And I am a proud Nightingale Baby 💙

You can still go to med school with an engineering degree.
My physics teacher in hs took up BS physics, and went to medschool. Try to look for a medschool that accepts non-traditional premed programs

Mahihirapan ka sa medtech course lalo na pag laid back type ka na student. Yung study habits ko nung highschool nadala ko hanggang ngayon sa college. Cramming works for me pero sobrang stress kapag exams. Nahihirapan din ako kasi every discussion may quizzes kaya laging nagbabasa at nagrereview. Lesson: Wag sanaying magcram!!! 😭😂😂

Is there an episode where the "guests" are from not "classic" premed's? I've heard of guys coming backgrounds like computer science (they would do well in a medical informatics specialization), legal management (medico-legal is very much in sight), and behavioral studies (medical anthropology, more or less) , and I'm curious about their take on the whole med school situation
