As I was planning to do a repair tomorrow, I thought I'd look at the video again, just to refresh my memory. Finally, I've understood the markings and the - almost invisible - little tick. So, yes, please don't ever delete this tutorial! The Trend video and instruction booklet are absolutely rubbish.

I've got three of the Trend pocket hole jigs. I bought this one a couple of years ago, chucked it in my toolbox to use on the hoof. I recently used it to fix a noisy flight of stairs. I particularly liked the idea of being able to set the depth without resorting to little blocks of wood, which is what you have to do with the all-metal double pocket hole jig. Hey, it works, but it's good to be able to do it easily straight out of the box. Alas, I've not used it as much as I'd have liked, simply because I just couldn't see the little mark you so helpfully zoomed in on. My eyesight is not the best - particularly in bad light - and let's face it, the instructions are less than stellar, so I just gave up and went back to doing a few testers on scraps and then taping a spacer to the front. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your long message about your pocket hole jigs , I havn't tried anymore yet but do want to , at the moment this does what I need but if I was doing more then maybe I would get a better one , I have just used this on a Halloween Coffin front and it worked great .Thanks again for your message I do appreciate it

just bought one of these today to use on some studwork, instructions not that great, but your video is brilliant and well explained thank you. only two questions remain the max setting is 38mm but it says it can be used on timber up to 3in thick, so if the wood is thicker than 38mm using the max setting should work just fine, and I assume a longer screw for fixing, is this right.
Thank you for that , if it was an unusual size , I would always do a test piece first , I would drill my first piece and insert screw , then place it at the side of what I wanted to attach to , making sure I had enough screw in and making sure it wasn’t too long if that makes sense , hope this helps
@@MeMyselfandMaking yes it does thank you, the angle of the pocket is always the same so 38mm setting should work on any thickness above 38mm the point I made was asking if the screw needs to be longer on thicker wood or if a general bite of say the average fixing would work ok, other wise you would need a lot of different sizes of screws on work above 38mm. however if the length of screw used on on the max setting of 38mm gave enough bite you would only need one size of screw for all thicker joints.
Your very welcome but I’ve thrown the box away sorry , I’ve just had a mess with some CLS , my set come with a couple of 50mm screws so with the 38mm setting on the jig , using the 50mm screws there is 18mm that goes into the 2nd CLS and looking at the angle you could go another 10mm so using 60mm , I have just taken a photo of if I can send it you somehow , hope this helps

thanks for the vid as the instructions are useless. it seems when you turn the measuring guide over you have to push one notch further to have the same distance.
I have tried it on a bit of 12mm mdf , on the settings it advises the 30mm screws I have are too big , the pocket hole goes in about 11mm and 19mm sticking out at the angle , so maybe with a smaller screw , I only have 30mm screws , but the instructions says from 12.7mm thickness , hope this helps you a bit
I can honestly say that screw never come through the other side , on the video I’ve noticed a bit of something on the bottom of the wood but it wasn’t a screw, I’ve just made a radiator cover using this method , did you notice what time on the video ?
Great video and very informative but I could believe what I saw when the airline came out. MDF dust is so dangerous I have banned MDF from my workshop.
No problem at all , I’ve just had a mess and setting the jig up for 34mm you get 20mm into the 2nd piece so safety you could use between 50mm and 55mm screws I would say hope this helps Andy

No you not at all , if I remember right , I couldn’t find one so I googled a timber thickness to screw size chart

How well does it work with 12mm material? I have the large pocket hole jig but can't use it with 12mm material which I use frequently
I havnt tried it yet on 12mm but I will get some and do a test for you
