I've always loved the scarecrow of Romney marsh. It inspired me to read the books. Now i found this movie it too will hold a special place in my heart and memories. Thank you for the upload.
Roy William Neil is best known for the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes series, but also did such films as “The Black Room” and his final one “Black Alibi”.
George Arliss early Oscar winner shines in this b pic and regardless of age a good story will keep you engaged. Also an early role for Margaret Lockwood who would go onto be very wicked herself.
There is a story of a woman visiting Madame Taussault's Wax Museum. Upon viewing a statue of Disraeli, she states: "What a wonderful image of George Arliss."

Decent 1937 film of the Dr Syn story. A bit stagey and theatrical but its good to watch and George Arliss is well cast. The 1962 Hammer film starring Peter Cushing is much better.
A great classic from the thirties when actor's could act thank you for showing this wonderful film.
AI will replace actors ....work for a few electrons
An old enjoyable film . Thank You .
I do enjoy the Dr Syn series of stories
A perfect late night movie. It plays like a creepy campfire tale. I don't need any gimmicky remakes. This one works for me.
Theres a three part series filmed in colour by Walt Disney in 1963 that might be worthy of your approval. Easy to find on UA-cam.
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful old movie!
Classic, thank you.

thank you, this film is better than the modern rubbish..
This is a gem, many thanks.
Very good thanks. I've been looking for a classical old movie tale of Kentish smugglers!
Where's Nigel Farage?

Same setters who did the Will Hay films, if I'm not mistaken. Even got Graham Moffatt in it 😏. Lovely old film 👍
Noticed Will Hays old side kick in it, the tubby choir boy & bar worker.
Young scoundrel Moffet
Thanks for posting, been looking for this for a long time!
Good story. Thanks

Madame TUSSAUD.
Heh
Great pic. It is slow but for its time a gem. Love Peter Cushing as Cpt. Clegg. My double 💘 for Patrick McGoohan & the Disney version.
When did Peter Cushing play Cpt. Clegg?
@@willtheman840 British film: "Captain Clegg", titled "Night Creatures" in USA.

This version is worthy of being on TCM (Turner Classic Movies).
Wow...this was good. I liked it. Good story.
great movie I love it..the origin of the prisoner character
well now, this changes my whole perspective on "The Scarecrow"!! Dr Syn,,the sinner. and I still like Dr. Pepper (from Waco,Texas)
I used to drink dr pepper for years, one of the reasons I have no teeth no more. To be fair, didn't brush my teeth every day either.
the deteriation of this old film adds to the effect of the story.
i definitely prefer this ending to the later 1963 version
Another British film good cast drama
Nice the original non-disney version.
Amusingly, the Catholic Church recently had a Cardinal Sin, in the Phillipines.
Awesome!!!
That's all u got to say
Pretty good movie
doctor pepper. i love DP😆
😍
Muriel George was the post mistress in Went the day well?

I liked Disney’s version the best.
50:00.
So many older movies like this drag on too slowly in many places and have exceedingly bad editing.
But was a comic movie? Ahah.
a great movie but still prefer peter cushing 1962. film.
Me too!
Me also
dreadful, slow and stilted. some old movies top notch but not this one. look out for the hammer version starring Perter Cushing, far superior
7:05 Dr. PEPPER ....
