Note that the Civetta Mondello got updated since the video! Now it has better 3D model, openable doors, working shifter etc.
Now I would move it to the "consider purchasing" category from the "not sure it worth buying" category.
Paid mods seem kinda sketchy when the next game update can break them and most people don't keep their old mods up to date. Beam seems like the community should keep mods more free and open so other people can update them if they want.
Yes, I've seen several times somebody updated someone else's outdated mod. With paid mods you can't do that unfortunately.
Yea; I have dozens upon dozens of games that each can run hundreds of mods; knowing how things generally work between games and mods, means I know the very real likelihood of game updates breaking mods, mods breaking games, mod incompatibility with other mods, and I know how common it is for "Sorry, I don't play X anymore, so I don't update this mod anymore" - it's rarely a monetary issue for the mod creators to create or support their mods, it's usually down to simply becoming disinterested in the core product.
Hey, fair enough when you're providing all that for free with zero expectation at the gate for money; it's entirely different when someone paid for that content, if I paid for a mod, I damn well expect that thing to stay up to date, remain supported, and have no mod conflicts with other mods; this is the double edged sword of "Paid mods" - expectations, and I don't think a lot of mod creators are really ready to meet those long term expectations.
out of principal, I will NEVER use a mod that demands money up-front to use, because that's me paying for content with expectations of quality and longevity of support; sometimes I'm willing to throw some spare change I have at mods I really enjoy that give me the choice to donate to them and their creators - I know it's not a lot of money, but that's me giving out of appreciation, not expectation...
The other arm of why I will never use "Paid mods" - quality; as soon as someone starts doing anything creative with the expectation of financial gain, it takes a toll on their work quality, this is a very real subject for a lot of creatives; money sets standards, standards set boundaries, boundaries can limit creativity; it's why so many games as a baseline suck now, they're made for profit, not out of genuine care or respect for the medium, and the way it can be used to express and create stories - it's just "how much money can we make with [product]" - as soon as people start expecting money for works of passion, it turns it into a job, as soon as it's a job, they stop taking bold and creative risks... I will never support mods that demand payment, because I don't want to see passion turn into the same stagnant shit that made gaming as bland and corporate as it is today in the mod making communities.
And lastly; Steam & Bethesda 2015 "experiment" already showed exactly how abusable "Paid Mods" can and would likely become if it was openly supported; abuse, theft, price gouging, lies, deceit, drama; no one wants this except the people who will abuse it for money or clout.
I wish these mod creators the best and hope they continue to do good work, but I won't be supporting them with my wallet if it's demanded up-front.
I have often said I would pay for a mod if it would motivate the developer to keep it up to date with the Beam updates. There are a lot of free mods that I love and miss from older versions of Beam but are broken now because the developer lost interest.
that's main issue with BeamNG

When it comes to paid mods, they must offer something which is deemed "worthy" of the price tag. If the content provided is of a similar or higher quality than the content in the game, it can be paid. But if it is like that Civetta Mondello example, it doesn't deserve the price tag. (which, the Mondello is too close to a GTA car based on the same IRL car. It feels cheap just by association.)
Well at this point why not make everything mod paid and have a actual price based on quality, some people put countless hours into just modeling the car, and it drives like shit,
naa
Exactly.
@@stanley4290 if model looks good, and drivings sucks - just sell the car model or collaborate with someone who can configure car handling & physics.
if car model looks ugly - i don't care even if someone wasted 5 years making it, i won't buy it
theres no point to actually purchasing these mods unless you want to donate to the creator, literally almost every single paid mod can be found on r/beamng_leaked_mods.
While not the author I'd like to clear a few things up about the Mondello.
The author made the made when there was no openable doors, no moving gearshifters, and some other things like that. He's been caught up massively with school however recently has been working on fixing it, but progress is slow. I do love however, how you mentioned the positives instead of highlighting the negatives, nice review overall. :)
Thanks for sharing. I absolutely love the Mondello but there's some things I really dislike about it. Still have a blast driving it though
it doesn't take away fromt the fact that this is literally the GTA 4 model of the turismo and he did practically no effort whatsoever modelling that car.

I agree, with most of these paid mods being an excellent deal, they aren't that excellent with a thing or two, they sure are great on THEMSELVES but comparing them with most free mods really can show what has to be done to make a great one, and if this trend of making mods just to cash on them is to keep happening, it won't take longer to see some exquisitely made ones
welcome to the world of sim racing
fuck no. hate paid mods
seems so crazy that the gavril vertex is free and even on the repo, W mod creator and the vertex made my beamng experience really fun
Yea whoever made the vertex is really showing paid mods that they are just greedy.
And this mod made me want to donate to the creator.

Nice touch with using TAXI OST music on the Cherrier showcase 👀
3:38 this maybe existed before the update where makes gear lever moves because looking at the pedals whenever pressed it seems so, but then again they can update it to support that function because the quality is good but just good not good as the Gabriel scout tho edit:can you do map mods (one of which you should DEFINITELY try is Kardu Point Research Center
Maybe in the future there will be map mod reviews too. And yes, I've heard about the Kardu Point Research Center and it's really interesting to see an interactive map in BeamNG. I hope devs will add features like that to some maps, for example openable garage doors.
@@TheCrazyDriverYT hopefully
imo paid mods should basically be a sort of "early access" type of thing, rather than locking out people who wish to use it,but i respect their decisions, though,if you make a mod exclusively paid, that's just gonna cause mod piracy, there's a reason there's pushback against paid mods, most ms flight simulator mods/addons are paid, and expensive too,the guy who made the r20 (which looking back does look pretty mediocre,no offense to the creator, its a fine mod,but it doesn't look that good) did it right in that regard, extra configs if you paid, rather than completely locking ALL the content behind a paywall
and recently a covet pickup too, early access paid, once finished it'll be free
Yes. A BeamNG modder, FastLane also releases early access mods for the subscribers, but after the mod is finished you can download it for free.
Great video reviewing beamng's paid mods, then comparing them with free mods. I hope this will inspire more people to create desirable high quality modded cars with stunning 3d models and nice-looking interior aswell as being fun to drive.
There’s honestly not much of a point for modders making them paid. One, paid mods have been frowned upon for many years in the Beam community until the Raven sadly broke that trend. Two, while I get people wanna earn money for their hard work, there’s other ways to do it, seriously. And three....it’ll get reuploaded to third party sites where people get it for free, plain and simple. If a Beam mod exists, it’s most likely going to be reuploaded.
@@indomemeusrex2292 I have a question for you, artists who already work a regular job and draw on the side and have a patreon or ko-fi. Should they stop what they're doing because they're already getting money from their job?
Great video, nice and informative. Plus the added themed music for each car is a really nice touch
The Taxxi 2 music is the cherry on top 0:18
The Signia looks better than the cars from the devs, really crazy the amount of detail it has
But it drives like shit. Also steers to the left a little bit, like a shitty modland mod
Very useful video, really interesting and informative, mostly the table of comparison at the end which is very useful when we don't have the mod, high quality video.
LucasBE (i’m pretty sure is his name) has always had phenomenal attention to detail with his mods. Stoat Muldoan (?) and the man behind the first interactive dashboard on the raven suv who’s name has completely slipped my mind atm have all been massive influences in pushes in quality and attention to detail. Some free and some paid. I’d honestly only buy the mods off of well known kidders from the beam community, not the garbage mesh slaps the eastern european countries seem to pump out(russian patreon and ‘commissions’ looking at you) Thanks for the video mate!
bro playing ETS2 music 💀
it goes hard
i love mods that feel so good that you cant even really tell its a mod and it just feels like a standard beam car
I liked the intro man, very cool.
Really nice video, this is quality ngl. Thanks, def worth to subscribe
everybody commenting about the quality of the mods, no one noticed that the music is always fit to the car
french car had a song from the "Taxi" french movie
van had Euro Truck Sim main menu theme
japaneese car had Gran Turismo music
More configs is actually worse on my opinion, with the sweet spot being around 40
With cars like the Autron CVP and Gravril Vertex, i intentionally delete the files for a lot of the joke configs, because i just get lost in them.
There should also be a clear line for when factory made cars end and tuned ones begin.
good video! it would be nice to have comments on force feedback too as on some modded cars it sometimes feels very different from vanilla cars..
paid mods are alright if they are good quality..making this stuff takes alot of work. it is fair that people ask for some money if they do a good job.
Actually, I also mean force feedback by driving physics.
i have the picnic, scout, and signia and can vouch that they all have superb force feedback at least with my cheap logitech
i personally think paid mods are really greedy
i get that the point is to support the creator but it practically makes the game have ingame transactions
there will be a car you want and all the other versions available are garbage and the new one you have to pay like 18 dollars for
take aries for an example
Thanks so much, this is so helpful😊
Gran Turismo sound track in the video! you have my respect
I'm planning to buy BeamNG drive soon. But if i install a car mod, I'll definitely go with the Gavril scout one! That looks Badass!
Paid mods are high quality mods but most people think that. There are some terrible paid mods in BeamNG. But the good thing is that some UA-camrs review the mods to help people not be scammed. To be honest, I also think paid mods are high quality. Overall I think paid mods are just mods to launder money off of you(not all).
I like the fact that you put Taxi movie music over Cherrier Picnic (Peugeot) mod 😂
The music from the french movie Taxi for the french car
I've had the demo version of the Picnic. Just the base car was an absolute blast to go slow car fast.
Driving slow cars fast is really fun in BeamNG, especially in small cars like that.
This is what I came here to say, it just feels right. (hmm, wasn't that a car company slogan a while ago?)
I think money should be reserved for mods that actually take time and effort to make. There are a lot of mods which aren't that good are starting to get offered for money. Still, I do agree with all of the mods in the video being paid because, when you pay for these mods you're enabling mod creators to actually get some income out of their hard work which is the least you could do to support a person.
Not to mention it enables them financially to make more amazing mods.
Paid mods are a very BAD idea, it's a HOBBY for a reason it should never be relied upon to feed oneself
@@psychlord1 drawing is a hobby, why are artists asking for money?

I might just buy it
my fav paid mods are Picnic, Mondello and Kardu Research Point. Picnic is small and fun to drive. I dont care that Mondello gear lever dont move and it have no openables and worse model, its very very fun to drive and Kardu Research Point is just incredible.
conclusion: WORTH SUBSCRIBING
if a mod is paid, it should have lots of features like the gravil vertex or the VW beetle and great quality models honestly
BROOOO THE SOUND I WAS THINKING I HAD ETS2 OPENED
The mondello has so much potential, really wish itd at least get the doors and shifter update
The Gran Turismo 6 music✨
Honestly one mod that feels like it would be paid but isn't is the KLJP mod, it is such a good mod and i recommend it to y'all
i totally agree with you opinion on the paid mods section it doesnt really make it better, it just feels like its better and actually happened to me with the picnic, a similar mod from the same dev, lucasbe is the etk k series first gen or something like that, its free feels good and it has the same vibe as good as the signia? definetly not but for a free mod its a top one, even better thatn the picnic paid or not
Having an impecable 3d model with high-res textures and good engine sounds are required for me to even think about getting a paid mod
I would definitely buy the ibishu signia if i know its existence before this
Literally me whenever a paid mod comes out:🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
Not the ETS 2 song on Gavril Scout 💀
Honestly the latest graphics make games look like a cgi film with every frame and move. Looking back on my GTA v gameplay from demoing a PS5 PC last year. It looks like a Pixar film in real time
I disagree that the signia is hard to drive. I found it really predictable and planted. This might be because I have driven similar cars in real life, but it was definitely the best mod in this video. not that the others are bad.
Yes for sure and also its an 80s Skyline where safety was not the priority and cars were not as stable and had no modern systems
Some random parents: "Where are my kids?"
My honest reaction: 1:27
The Gavril is cool for it's price, but if you consider that's it ⅕ of the game price?
A lot cheaper than most of the paid mods for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Some cost more than the game itself.
Love music on this video🥰
I love the ets2 music😂. I bought all of these
at garvil scout, i actually alt tabbed to see if my ETS was open. You tricked me!!!
0:11 is that the Taxi movie chase soundtrack?
Yes
No mention of the Ibishu Claria in that last table? It's way better than that Mondello or the Chisai
I first got beamng in 2013 (and still have that version on my old computer) I haven't played it for years and hoped people wouldn't try to turn it into some sleazy way to leach money out of people, but I guess I was wrong
I have mind of the paid mod may be at alfa-beta version, but after relise stay free
I brought the gavril scout mod as soon as I heard about and boy, it’s the best van in beamng no doubt. Any counterarguments?
That ets2/ats music tho
You have a weird sense of value. Game costs around $20 and comes with 30-ish vehicles, maps, not to mention the game itself. Yet apparently spending the same amount of money on 5 cars that aren't even official is a worthwhile purchase.
And people wonder why the GTA Defective Trilogy sells so well.
The civetta mondello more or less is the turismo from GTA 4
I worry about support, For example how long will paid mods be supported? And what scams could arise from them being in the community.
Yes, paid mods should have regular updates and better customer support than free mods.
Civetta Mondello is just an almost 1:1 copy of the Turismo from GTA 4.
beamNG is $25 on steam. It comes with 35 vanilla cars, 14 maps (not including showroom and grid small pure) and 50 trailers and props. Lets just assume an equal weight for these in terms of work required to produce them (the maps take a lot more work than the cars, props take less, so lets just say it balances out). Add them up, you get 99. Now lets just value the game engine and physics simulation at say 100. That's a 'work' score of 199. So $25 for 199 units of work (lets say), a single car being only 1 unit of said 'work'. That equals $0.12 or $0.13 per unit of 'work', or per car. Ignore the game engine and that's still only $0.25 per car.
Paid mods are overpriced. People want to feel special for making something, that's great. But, lets not value a modders time at 10-30x that of the actual developers.
If the mods are really good and on a dev level or above then im ok to pay a few bucks for a really high quality mod.
I think the ,pst customizable mod for beamng is Maluch Remastered it has much configs and the customization options are nearly endless
The idea of paid mods doesn't seem like a bad idea. But I do have some major gripes with it.
First of all (and this is a major concern): The quantity for what you are paying for isn't there. The base game has 35 vehicles as of 0.29, and it costs 25 USD. The Gavril Scout mod comes with one vehicle and costs 4.17 USD. If I'm paying nearly 1/5 the game value, I don't think it is unreasonable for me to expect a sizable amount of content. I think KLJP and other kitchen sink packs could easily be around that price, but for 1 vehicle with an average amount of configs? It just isn't enough content.
Second (this was shared by another commment below): You are spending 4 dollars taking a risk. Sure, it works well and good now, but in 3 months when the next Beam update drops, will it still work? And just as importantly, if it's broken, will the mod creator fix it? This ties back to the above concern, as BeamNG updates regularly with new content, and you're paying 25 dollars with a guarantee that says all cars should work as intended.
Third: The mods need to be to vanilla standard. And there are a few problems with that. The Signia has suspension issues, the Mondello has a weird engine noise and the model has imperfections, the Picnic's rally version has a strange suspension as well. Vanilla vehicles are explicitly committed to perfection. I love the modding community, but many popular mods fall below the standard, which is why if you choose to charge for someone to use the mod, you must ensure it is dev quality.
the signia shares a lot more with the first gen toyota celica (not that you are wrong, it has many skyline parts, just asying its more similar)
True
If the mod genuinely fits 100% into the lineup and I don't feel like it stands out in a bad way I will gladly pay a couple bucks for it. BeamNG mods take a ton of effort to make good.
Good video and agree with the mods, but i just wanna know the name of the song playng behing the ibishu signia/bx.

Ah yes, I want to pay money for the game, and then also pay money for a lore correct Gavril Scout that A BEAMN DEVELOPER WORKED ON, yes i want to pay for that car, when i can install 100's of realistic monster truck configs for free, but no a little euro van that one of the devs partook in making, no i have to buy that.
imagine paid video lol
love your reviews, i demand more dev-like quality mods (and i hate automation cars)
I get the idea of paid mods and the efforts that might have been put, but when it comes to gavril scout its diffrent,
When i heared that it was gonna get realesed i was extremly hyped and when it came out i bought it straight away, I drove it around a bit and the van itself is okay but it feels really boring to me, Its not that something feels missing or unfinished, Everything is where it should be but it feels really boring to drive it around, cornering and handling is not great, i would always crash in a corner if i was going over 30 kph, and the configs kind of feel the same, the van isnt really fast, what i mean is that one part of the configs is poorly slow and acceleration aswell as top speed is low, while the rest appears to be a bit faster, Its not what i expected, I would say its an ok mod but not worth paying for
I'm not a mod expert on beamng but I think its sort of worth it? I guess, I paid $8 for a Nissan skyline R34 stagea (mod is deleted) and I tested it out and the details is amazing, but that's the last paid mod I tried, and my verdict is if you wanna spend something just spend it on important things not vehicle mods
Ciavetta is soo good. I got it already
gavril vertex is the best mod ever with 100's of configs and its free of cost. the mod comes with alot of fabergastic features
No matter the game i personally don't like paid mods unless they are just 11/10 or equivalent to a full new game, i wouldn't mind giving a few bucks to a modder i like but being asked for money to download it bothers me
HOWEVER
I can also understand in a way that they like to have a stable-ish way to get compensation for their due work, or at least be sure that it will be rewarded in some way
Maybe with time it'll get better but for now this looks like a problem with no real solution

The mod table wasn't perfect. I updated it since the video.
Agreed, the Kashira (both generations) is one of my favorites of all time, and I would gladly pay to ensure it continued to work in future versions of Beam. Exactly the sort of MPV I wish we still had in the U.S., not big and fat like the Dodge Caravan, Honda Odyssey, and Toyota Sienna have become.
they aren't worth it simply for the fact that this game is nowhere near complete and updates HAVE and WILL continue to break mods. The author of these paid mods are under no Obligation to fix their mods over and over every update until Beam is in its final state. I'd be more on-board with it if the game was finished or in a state where it could be guaranteed that any more updates wouldn't break mods.
I feel like paid mods should all come with a try it before you buy it mod that includes the base model car just to see the overall detail of the mod. I wouldn’t want to pay then find out it’s low quality .
I think many the paid mods have demos, but unfortunately not all of them.
Literally any DLC EA ever made, no matter how good, was evil. But charging money for modding a game you didn't even create can be accepted. Gamers are almost as inconsistent as people arguing politics.
FACTS.
I've got a little more cash now, so I can finally consider paid mods, but only if they are at least the quality of the average car in game because obviously I am not going to pay to make the game worse.
