Look no further than Led Zeppelin, the Doors and the Who. Hell, listen to Densmore come out of the slow portion of L.A. Woman. He is way faster than the tempo in the beginning of the song. But it's all good man, you can disagree. There are lots of opinions on this topic.

If they divert from it by one or two BPMs then no one can even tell. What's actually robotic and artificial is pitch shifting, EQing, and mastering the fuck out of every fragment of a song. That's what makes me tired of modern Weezer and modern music in general.
