I'm looking to see any good motorway cruisers as I'm doing more motorway miles so my 2007 BMW 116i has a farewell goodbye. I need something that has cheap tax and will soak up the miles with no problem; it must be sporty to drive ( There is a 5 mile B-Road on my commute) . Maybe a Jaguar XE or a 3 Series EfficientDynamics. Anybody got suggestions on the car? My budget is just shy of £18k

Has had one blow up but it’s almost like a coming of age thing amongst certain brits! As for reliability they’re shite, best thing to do is do what the yanks do with them and swap that engine straight out for one that’s proven! Even today Land Rover make great cars that are still hugely flawed especially in regards to electrics! I don’t know why they just don’t get some proven Japanese engineers in-house to make them reliable
I took one in trade in 2016 for a dodge srt10 pickup, the landie had 3000 miles on it, 110csw in black, it was out of production and drove like shit. Put big wheels, led’s, some urban shit and sold it to a Land Rover development engineer who couldn’t get one, he came down in a prototype evoque convertible. Why do people love these? I made nice money on the deal. Happy days

The thing inbetween the wipers is the windscreen washer jet has snapped off & they have used a bit of pipe instead of fitting a new unit 😂
Calvin, that 110 is an ex JLR engineering vehicle. All VX plate cars were engineering fleet. That car started life rough and still is rough.

Do cars in Britain get a License plate when they first hit the road and keep that plate forever?

The Prototype/Press Pumas were all VX07 too, I’ve certainly never seen a factory build with a EPB so definitely has a interesting history!

I've got a 2014 2.2 tdci Keswick green 90 hard top and genuinely love it to bits. It's not the best car in the world but I love it beyond words. And its a good investment too.

I came upon your channel after searching for reviews for the X5 and i came acroos your recent video on the X5. Since then ive been subscribed but i still didnt make up my mind on which SUV to buy ive been looking at 2017 X5 40d, Porsche Cayenne Diesel 2017 or Audi Q7 of the same year. Which SUV would you prefer as i have twins on the way and my 373 000 km (230 000 miles)Passat b7 2013 is becoming more and more unreliable by the day so a change must happen. 😁

14:59 “unsuitable for motor vehicles” you absolutely should have gone down there. It’s the defenders natural habitat. Those signs are advisory so Mrs Dorothy doesn’t take her Nissan micra down it. Perfectly legal to drive in a suitable vehicle though.

That defender body shell is made of aluminium will not rot!! Do your research I suggest!!!??
@@keen2b google galvanic corrosion and you will understand what happens to the bodies. Takes far longer than the steel bulkhead, chassis or crossmembers to rot out though 😂

Dont quote me but i think the play in the steering and lack of feel is designed into them for off roading incase you hit large objects with front wheels ie big rocks and steering wheel doesnt jar out of your hands ,thats what i was tol by my sons mate who owns first gen Disco with same chassis

The Defender 90’s always hold their value better when compared to the 110. They are also better to drive.

I'd check out that Defender as it looks a bit shadey. Thats too much a Puma (post 2007) than TD5, unless its running on old plates
The Puma came in 2007 so not shady at all. TD5 finished in 2006 last plates on 56

It is worth while but I suppose it’s quite a lot of work to sell one car. I’d rather just get rid or get it fixed and get on to the next.
Despite the complaints about these Defenders people are paying a fortune for them ,I know personally
when 4 cars dealers offered me the most rediculous money for my short wheelbase and I could not refuse the final offer as ive got two others.Compared to what I paid for it and what they offered from dealers was mind blowing!

We had two cars in work the land rover and a Cavalier , guess what the land rover was constantly off the road, the Cavalier just rumbled on for ever.

Australia tuning in here - As someone who owned a Defender 110 Xtreme, I was interested in what you had to say about your example. I was told the LR Defender would be a love it / hate it relationship, which was pretty accurate. Even with the 'reliability' factor, there was more love than hate. I'm not quite sure why so many of us love the abusive relationship aspect of LR ownership, but there you go. Mine had a 2.5 Tdi motor under the bonnet & it was the electric that eventually saw me sell it to another Defender fan.
For me, and where I wanted to travel towing a 4x4 camper, it was the question of 'when is it going to breakdown again', that eventually said enough is enough. But there was so much about the Defender that suited me living in the countryside on acreage, down dirt roads & across creeks, that I kept on creating excuses for it.
Question - Did you figure out what that odd thing is that's poking out at the base of the windscreen?
If a Land Rover hasn't broken down, it's about to breakdown 😀 Easy to fix but badly built. There is an official 40 page manual on how to fix "water ingress"! Easy to break into and steal, as many are. But, they have some sort of magnetic appeal!

It's not a facelift it's pretty much a completely different car. Still well old fashioned but everything under the body was brand new.

Yeah ford put the stupid puma engine in it gave it the bulge and the sold it to Tata who have done much better than ford could do
