In my opinion I think all the Apparatus except maybe the Command cars look better with the old style light bars like Truck 3.
What`s with the green color in the light bars?
That is from Chicago Fire Department tradition; one of the earliest Chicago Chief's family was in boating; when Chicago Fire Chief he added a green light, which on boats indicates the right side of the ship, & red the left; he, the Chief, also added the red & green lights to their respective side of fire station apparatus bays. Departments across America adopted the practice, such as my town's, where I was an Explorer for 6 years with, (Junior Firefighter). Not all Departments adopted that, & some have dropped, again such as the Department of my town; Chicago Fire has as well with the newer rigs & Chief buggies, (red & blue lights, instead of red & green).

What is CV1?
For some reason they decided to put CV 1 on the firehouse, short for Command Van 1, but I’ve never heard anyone call it “Command Van 1.” On the radio they usually shorten it to just “Van” or call it by its signature which is 2-7-1. Chicago has five of them 2-7-1, 2-7-2, (2-7-3 at O’Hare Airport), 2-7-4 and 2-7-5, that respond to incidents every day. They also have one that they use for major incidents, should there be one, or big special events (like the Chicago Marathon, that sort of thing), numbered 2-7-9.

whats with the green light??
so i just got the answer and its pretty cool; i guess a long long time ago the chief was into boating and added the respective marine light colors to each side of the front of each of his rigs and that tradition stuck. i thought that was pretty neat. lol
