Hello Christy, do you know if most people that are going are going as solo travelers or groups of friends? And ranging in all ages? I am considering booking i am in my mid 30’s and would be a solo traveler.
Writing vlogs are therapeutic. It’s not easy being a writer. Sometimes your thoughts go all over the place. I wish you luck on what you’re working on, Christy. I know for sure that your work will exceed our expectations. Keep being you and continue exerting effort and hard work into everything you do.
Christy, I am a teenager, which means I am over ten years younger than you. I have loved writing stories for as long as I can remember. I have been working on a few short stories and poems this summer that I plan on submitting to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. I am also working on a historical fiction novel with fantasy elements. Your writing style is much like my own and I exceedingly enjoy watching your writing vlogs. I am excited to read your travel memoir, A Year in Tokyo when the paperback version releases. As someone with endeavors to become an author, your videos are incredibly uplifting and you have been a constant support. Even in the arduous days and the failures that come with the process, I always remember my insatiable love for writing. I love you
I know this was just a little throw away line, but you saying it takes thousands of hours to write a book made me so happy 💛 I prefer tracking time instead of wordcount so I know that I'm currently 800 hours into my wip and that's always felt like it's just me being slow and inexperienced rather than it being a 'normal' amount of time. Most of my writer-friends also write a lot faster than me, which doesn't help. Thank you for making me feel like I'm not writing at snail-pace 😊 Also the vlog was beautiful as always 💛
Personally, I hate tracking in words written. Unfortunately, it's often the easiest metric to use for progress, but it absolutely doesn't factor in problem solving, editing, brainstorming, plotting, research or any of the other myriad things that are essential to the writing process. Also words quickly written aren't necessarily good, usable words! It's so much more important that you go about it the right way, not the impatient way (which is something I struggle with hahah). You're doing a great job!! 800 hours is absolutely huge. It takes a lot of time to do something like this, so don't worry; you're doing an excellent job. Best of luck with it!! 💛💛
@@MariJadeWrites Thank you! ☺️ I’m working on a multi-pov fantasy novel! It’s currently on the 4th draft and I recently sent it to some friends for feedback which is super exciting! 😊 (I made a whole video about it too if you are interested 😅)
It took me 5,5 years to write my debut novel of 505 pages. It is a Swedish fantasy novel. Rn I'm translating it into English myself. It takes lots of time. Thousands of hours is a good measurement. Tolkien spent almost 2 decades writing Lotr.
writing 300 to 500 words can easily take me hours. But bit by bit, im getting to the end of my short story. I wrote 10 pages and nearly 4 000 words in total. It's the longest work I have done since a very long time. Writing vlogs and asmr ambience kept me motivated.
i love the framing of creativity as "a resiliency game" and your reminder that not everything about writing is romantic. it's a nice push back against that silly narrative of "if you do what you love then you'll never work a day in your life", like...! that ain't it! there can certainly be the joy and gratitude in pursuing our passions, but it's definitely still legitimate hard work that requires resilience and faith. cuz then on the flip side, i also love the reminder to take a baking break when needed 🥰 sometimes those breaks, stepping away from the creative pursuit to do the other mundane maintenance tasks of life... sometimes that stuff is just as much a part of the creative process, cuz yeah we're still our creative selves thinking or processing or listening to our loud music even when we're not specifically working on the creative project... that section of this video was a really lovely balance of de-romanticizing creative work while also adding some romance to daily mundanity, lovely!
Christy, your videos are my inspiration, really. I'm a 30-year old man (that's scary to be so old), and every time you release a video, it's like having a conversation with a friend who nudges you forward and says "Keep it up, dude! You CAN do it! You CAN write this short story. You CAN write this novel. You CAN complete this new podcast episode. We CAN do it together." I'm so grateful for all your work. And I'm so happy for you finally having your Tokio book in paper! When I was watching that part of the video, I was smiling from ear to ear. And you know what? You CAN finish your Project Teacup novel. All of us here, we support you. You CAN do it!

And suddenly I love the story and how my mc is turning out

You’ve inspired me to start finally building/sticking to a writing routine! I’ve been working on my first novel and it’s so helpful to see your process and know I’m not alone in my fears/struggles with the creative process. Congrats on your paperback!
It has been several weeks since I found your channel. I saw the way you tried different routines. I watched all of your videos in that playlist and then started watching other videos every day. I appreciate your vlogs about writing a lot since Im trying to become a professional writer while Im working in another field for living and its a pretty slow process and watching your process makes me feel really good like "oh Im not alone in this" or "oh so others are struggling with the same things" and etc. Im also a content creator but mostly in instagram. I ended up leading support groups about planning, emotional regulation, relationships and self compassion. But most of my followers know me for archetypes. That was the thing made me in love with greek mythology. I found so many similarities in my interests with you so your whole being is just bright my day Christy. Thank you :)
You're such an inspiration Christy~ So much of what you talk about struggling with as a writer, overlaps with my field. As an artist there are some days where no matter how much you want to draw and try to draw, every piece just comes out lackluster. I also feel this can feel especially stressful when you work from home/on your own, because you don't get to hear from other creatives struggling with the same thing (even though its totally normal!). So thank you for being honest and sharing your struggles with us! I think its an important thing to share! It was so nice to hear you being kind to yourself after having a less than productive day.

Hi Christy. I hope this hasn't been asked and answered before. I wondered if you send your books to a professional editor before you start querying. Also, I'm so glad to hear that it takes Donna Tartt years to write her books. I've been working on one for 2 or 3 years, which is painfully slow, but it isn't 10 years! Not yet at least. I just keep telling myself that as long I continue to make progress in one form or another, it's ok. Thanks for your videos. Love watching them!
Nah, from what I've seen, I don't think it's a good idea to send your book to an editor before querying because even if you do, if you get picked up by an agent, they might ask you to make a bunch of edits that contradict the edits you just spent thousands of dollars paying for, and then the publishing house will probably also ask for edits anyway. And there are several different types of editors you need, structural editors, copy editors, proof readers, etc. One of the big benefits of being traditionally published is that the publishing house pays for that stuff. You COULD consider paying for a manuscript assessment (which is when you send your manuscript to a writers' centre, and they give you feedback generally but don't edit). Christy, how do you manage to work on several devices? Do you use google docs or some synching tool to have your novel refreshed and updated on both your computer and your tablet? I've been struggling with that lately!
If everything goes to plan, then yes! It'll be on bookdepository as well as a lot of other retailers, so hopefully it'll have no problems getting to Portugal 😄
I am into the process of writing a novel and when I think about finishing it I feel sad... Sad for a finished journey and also sad for the death of a character. Did you feel the same before? I sometimes feel like crying. It's so strangee
@@christy-anne-jones Kinda crap, but your video's cheered me up. Better than ASMR. Can't really get anything done about it on a Sunday so best not stress about it today. Thanks and all the best!
12:42 i'd sell my kidney for a vlog after the publishing process where you'd list all these moments and link to the parts of the book that you were writing like, today you're feeling stressfull because of this this and that and that was the day that you wrote that scene, that you wrote that plot, you know?? id love to know what you were feeling when you were writing big moments of the novel
It's so weird to count the words all the time... Isn't it?? Why does it matter? You're telling a story and there's a flow.... Why does it matter how many words you write?
It can take years to write a novel, and the process can be really challenging. There are some days that the words come easily, and other days when you need to push through. For the days (or weeks) where I need to push through because it's difficult, I need to understand how much progress is a realistic amount to aim for each day. Understanding words count is essential to that, or at least it is for me, at this point in the drafting process😊 (but we're all different. I'm sure plenty of people don't focus on words at all!)
Hope you all enjoy this cozy writing vlog 😊💛

Christy, will the paper back be available everywhere? I'd love to get it, but I live in Portugal C:
If everything goes to plan, then yes! It'll be on bookdepository as well as a lot of other retailers, so hopefully it'll have no problems getting to Portugal 😄
Nice jobs..working on fantasy
Thank you! 😊
@@christy-anne-jones you are welcome..have a nice day..
"procrati-baking" I'm gonna start calling it this
I am into the process of writing a novel and when I think about finishing it I feel sad... Sad for a finished journey and also sad for the death of a character. Did you feel the same before? I sometimes feel like crying. It's so strangee
Also the weirdest thing ever is that if I were to make it public I would feel I lost a part of myself... Like losing a baby...
Did you already tell us what genre teacup is? Did I just forget hehe
It's adult fantasy! 😊💛
I havent felt like writing lately the well is dry
Yay! I'm early 💕
Thank you for being here! 💛💛
when you are a creative writer or an author you have to write about certain things that aspire you
Hi Christy!! I was wondering if you are going to find an agent to represent you?
Yes! I hope so. Once the novel is done, I'll start the querying process again 😊💛
Hi Dear, which app are you using to write on ipad?
It's a Samsung Tablet 😊 And I'm using MS Word!
Procrasti-BAKING 😂
So happyyy!!! 🌞 your cozy vlogs inspire me to just… move. 🥲
😊💛💛
Why don’t you self publish? I read a lot of indi authors and their books are amazing you should really consider it if you don’t get picked up again.
If comfort was a UA-cam creator:
Heck, I got a debt collection letter at the weekend... this lady's videos are a pleasant way to escape that for a while.
I'm so glad you like my videos! Thank you for being here 💛
@@thursoberwick1948 Oh my god--I can't imagine how stressful that must have been/must be. Hope you're okay 💛
@@christy-anne-jones Kinda crap, but your video's cheered me up. Better than ASMR. Can't really get anything done about it on a Sunday so best not stress about it today. Thanks and all the best!
@@thursoberwick1948 god, that absolutely sucks. Look after yourself and take care 💛
I think you are enough. Your writing is your own expression.
I'm sure plenty of people don't focus on words at all!)
speaking japan I want to learn Japanese if you know how to speak the language
I wonder why Stephen King drink tea instead of coffee. The brain gets less oxygen because of the caffeine and thus your creativity is not optimal.
