At this point, The Isley Brothers are not musical artists. They have transcended. They are musical essence. Their influence can be heard and felt in all music.
Ohhh I like that Musical Essence🤭🙂👍🏾
Absolutely...
Beatifically said and UNDERSTOOD. Living legends

*Isley Brothers* , thank you to your contribution to hip hop and to the world. Your music has helped the world become a much better place. 8:41 Thank you for sharing that monumental moment which became an iconic track by the late great *Notorious B.I.G.* 👑
I remember my older brother buying the cassette to Big Poppa and playin it our dads car. Dad loved the songs hook, as well, lol.

This is one of the most CLASSIC episodes of DRINK CHAMPS!!! I literally smiled in awe as the OG's opened up and didn't need a lick o' licka! They respect what came after them and have a LIFETIME of memories with all your favorite artists, and their music is and will always be timeless. They don't have to sing another day and their voices will be heard 4Life!!! 🎣🫡 definitely played a role in my upbringing. 💐 well deserved....
Me too 😂❤
NORE should do more 70s artists and 80s legends. they need to get there flowers. plus legends have the best stories about teaching the youth and life stories about what mistakes not to make.
R&B money supposed to be doing that but they getting a lot of new jacks and not grabbing the R&B legends that are still alive it's sort of sad so we do have to rely on drink Champs but so beautifully he's tying in like Parliament George Clinton Funkadelic like the samples they do have done with hip hop and R&B or The Isley Brothers and all the many thousands of samples that have been done from their catalog I think that connection that was somebody else drink Champs had who is one of The Originators in original East Coast hip-hop and soul that person connected those dots but this interview and George Clinton interview even the episode that they aired last week he was not bad cuz he was a historian from a b-boy perspective the tagging perspective the clothing and culture perspective he had a rich amount of history that connected the dots and he was a pleasure to have him especially with him being on the choreography side of the five elements he's on the music side to but he was more on the cruise and the b-boys and you know the dancing and Aang tagging Crews of the day my mistake The Isley Brothers were on R&B money my fault they surely were on R&B money I forgot I take all the R&B money stuff back no I don't know I don't I still say that they're many more old school artist that R&B money should have on their podcast because the foundation should be there those interviews are going to be iconic you never know when not only you can't give flowers to living musical Legends anymore but anything you know like the world could change you might not be the death of a person but the society might going somewhere so for posterity I think that you know these old-school R&B artists should be reverenced and honored while they're here
Facts, 70s n 80s artistis outside if hiphop are Soooooo important to hiphop, inspirations!
@@lemuelmalik8347No disrespect to DC but need Questlove Supreme to have The Isley’s on his podcast. Quest would be more knowledgeable and ask the right questions about recording techniques and the type of nerd shit I’m into as a musician. Plus I heard O’Kelly Isley wasn’t the one to mess with back in the day when it came to IB business
@@j_ocrates23 I agree 1000 % The interview hits different when the interviewer is knowledgeable about the artist.
@@j_ocrates23 I would concur with you that Amir AKA Questlove would have a greater knowledge in regards to many things and therefore could ask better questions people have to realize that he keeps trying to Nore that is trying to kind of push I like okay we're not journalists but Nori has a extremely bad habit of not listening to his guests and the DJ efn has a better way of asking questions he also listens better so how do you have a podcast especially when you have distinguished guests that have cool stories that you don't allow them to expound because you've already interrupted so they feel like nine not even worth it he's not listening he's trashed if you really look at any of these drink Champs in the last 3 years No Lie n o r e spins about 30 minutes alone just giving praise and dick riding now I get it but 30 minutes and I guarantee you if you go through the whole segment of any episode there is at least 30 minutes of nori just giving praise and I think it's a little overboard give him praise thank them keep it moving but I guarantee you there's about 30 minutes in the last three years of episodes 30 minute out of the anywhere from an hour and 40 minutes to to our 23-hour programs where he's given that kind of praise NORAD will also say he doesn't have a vocabulary well that means step it up if nothing else from a tactical standpoint if nothing else because I'm not going to lie though this interview was well felt if you listen to what tank Did on R&B money podcast the stories that the Isley Brothers told one more industry oriented here I mean I think that they just reiterated the fact that the Isley Brothers maybe the most sampled R&B group out of even James Brown I know he had a lot of sampling Fela kuti can't remember George's last name but from Parliament and Funkadelic plenty of samples and then one would be surprised at how much Luther have been sampled but not to the level of the Isley Brothers and James Brown and George Clinton so to me to have these icons on and not let them elaborate about who they work with how they work with them all that kind of stuff it was like 2 hours and some change worth of Nore because they didn't do having these greats on their Justice
Ernie is soo sick on the guitar. I hope the Isley Brothers do another interview like this on a different platform, I wanna know more of their musical process, about the other brothers, etc.
Ernie is top notch agreed...wish they would've mentioned Chris Jasper
These guys are beyond deserving of flowers and HUGE props to Ron not shying away from speaking on R Kelly talent musically nobody can deny that about him to literally be mainstays in the entertainment industry for 8 decades?!?!? They'll never be duplicated immaculate career
Literally no one ever denies R Kelly’s talent. Why do people feel the need to bring that up when the conversation is focused on his sexual predation of young girls? So what the man makes good music, that is not what people are concerned with.
He is Extremely Talented. What he did. What cosby did. It didn't take away from their Talent. Easy 2 sepetate.
They r just SCUM of the earth ppl...
My very first concert was The Isley Brothers for my 21st birthday in 2007. The most legendary group in my generation, my parents, and grandparents.
WHY DIDN'T THEY GO INTO THE MR.BIG STORY? THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS THAT THE YOUNGER GENERATION KNOW ABOUT HIM...IS THROUGH R,KELLY.
We wouldn't have so many rap hits without them. Shout out to the Isley Brothers
The love these blood brothers express for each other and their siblings is so beautiful it brings tears.
No Doubt.
I love how they gave R. Kelly his props! Noriega is scared to address anything controversial since Kanye West interview!
Time stamp ?
I'm 1 hr in thinking when are they going to mention R Kelly. The way they reinvented the soap opera aspect of music videos and albums.
You answered my question....was wondering if they were gonna speak on R.

Ok ❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂
I grew up listening to these men. Crazy I never heard Ernie be so talkative and his story telling is anazing. He always came off as the quiet brother playing guitar to me. Great energy.
Earnie still plays with perfection. His talent speaks volume😮
Every coloured person in South Africa grew up on the Isley Brothers. Their music was the our version of nursery rhymes to this day ❤ Living legends for sure.

Loved the Isley Brothers on Drink Champs. They were a class act as usual. Loved Ernie's singing. To hear the history and stories were wonderful, and as usual, Ron Isley, a class act give a positive shout out to R Kelly, that was a class act. The Isley Brothers is my favorite group of all time.
The Isley Brothers are without a doubt one of the Top Three Greatest Groups/Bands ever. They’ve stayed consistent and relevant for Sixty Plus years.
Ronald Isley/Mr.Biggs is on my Top Five List of Greatest Singers. Every generation has listened to their music.
The Isley Brothers is arguably the best American band ever

They truly are! I saw them recently and when I mentioned this is what I did that particular weekend to a coworker, she had a blank look and said "I've never heard of them Or Frankie Beverly and Maze ". I looked at her like 🙄🙄🙄 Stop it

Not only are they timeless, it’s the swag that puts them in my GREATEST RNB GROUP OF ALL TIME PERIOD……………,,!!
WOW, Drink Champs, y'all are showing off today with the Isley Brothers, I feel you. 👍
Before Sly & the Family Stone, before the Jackson 5 and before Earth, Wind & Fire, the Isley Brothers were the ones who really started it all.
May God continue to bless Ron, Ernie and Minister Rudolph Isley and their brother-in-law Chris Jasper.
The Isley Brothers made some of the greatest music and Ernie Isley is the greatest guitarist alive today. He's as great of a guitarist as Jimi Hendrix was, and he has his own style. The Isley Brothers was a power house group back in the seventies, a force of nature. Much love to them.
Ernies jam is a bad sone.he played his guitar like he was outta space
Jimi hendrix's the one who taught Ernie Isley how to play!
The world doesn't have a clue how iconic this interview is. The behind the scenes no other interviewer would get. Tears my eyes because as a little boy I would sneak in my mom's album collection and play their music in the 70s.
The world knows.
Just yesterday, I had *Busted* on repeat. The Isley Brothers are living Legends.... Great storytelling, audio scenery....these are not mere singers but Psychiatrists. Much love from Namibia, Africa 🌍.

You've been a great influence on culture back home. Most of us grew up RnB and Hip Hop. And the Black Liberation Movement's influence was actually felt here. In the 20s, Marcus Garvey sent a ship to Namibia to support our cause and to unite us with Black America. One of my Uncles, Professor Mburumba Kerina came to the USA in the late 50s and was friends with Malcolm X, Maya Angelou (He is mentioned in her book, The Heart of a woman) , Du Bois and all the big players in Black Liberation during that time. I’m going to see them in concert on Friday! I’m so excited! The Isley Brothers have played such a pivotal role in the culture and are truly a light in the world. Legendary Episode of Drink Champs. These Brothers definitely deserve there Flowers in the Hip-Hop space.
And here flowers too 😆 🤣
Love the Isley Brothers but hated this episode. DC needs an OG in that room for when real legends come on. An American OG, if they really honor our legends. These young (immigrant) guys didn’t know what to ask. It was almost a waste of time watching. Luckily the good brothers recognized the naïveté that they were dealing with and took control early and told some good stories. Love and continued blessings to the Isley Brothers. Drink Champs need to do better.

@ariwilson2556 EFN is not a immigrant. He was born in the USA
These guys are truly Living Legends. They stood through the test of time without scandals and non-sense to tarnish there reputations, unlike so many others do in the industry. This was a great interview. To see these two brothers chemistry being displayed on cam, combine with how socially aware they are is amazing and also shows why they lasted this long.AND THEY STILL DROPPING!

The Brothers are so humble. Not distance Not Jaded . I think this is because of 2 major factors, no drugs, and no outside corporate veto powers. They were self contained, family, and extremely talented. The Isley songs never get old. My favorite, At your best you are love, I listened to with headphones, on vinyl, while in Jr High School.

Love their music. Can’t forget that R. Kelly wrote a lot of their later hits in the 90s and 2000s.
No he did not. Kelly wrote a couple of Isley hits. Ernie wrote 10 times more hits for the Isleys than Kelly. And ALL of Ernies songs are remade, sampled, and standard classics. Kelly's songs are very good.
