The Radio 1 Ibiza Prom

- Опубліковано 21 вер 2024
- For the first time in its 120 year history, the BBC Proms welcomed Radio 1 to turn the hallowed Royal Albert Hall in to the euphoric madness of Ibiza.
Pete Tong, Jules Buckley and the Heritage Orchestra transformed dance classics in to orchestral masterpieces with the help of John Newman and Ella Eyre.
Anika here, I am one of the violist's here with the Heritage Orchestra , are you all having FUN !!
That was awesome!
Thank you for the joy ✌🏻
Thank you. This was AMAZING! Would have loved to have been there x
Still listening today x
Fuck yes!!
OMG „one more time“ was my wife’s favourite song. She would play this millions of times when she bought in on CD almost 20 years ago and would be dancing through the house whenever it was on. She very unexpectedly and surprisingly has passed away way too young this year. And I found this only after. She would have absolutely adored this. Flooded with tears while listening to this as all the memories are popping up. Memories of my best soulmate and
memories of dancing to this in the clubs. Thanks to everyone involved. This is epic. Best from 🇩🇪
So sorry-best of times-happy memories my friend x
Oh no 😢 so sorry x but what a song! Your lady is my kind of kindred spirit x remember being on holiday, think Malta 🇲🇹 packing suitcases to go back home, ' one more time' the video was on, cranked up the volume, had a dance with my lil sis, our parents joined in, your lady has taste! Love when the beat drops in it! So very sorry for your loss x so kind of u to share her memories with us, this is why Pete Tong and the heritage orchestra are out of this world- they remind us to sing as if no one is listening, dance as if no one is watching and have these epic memories with our loved ones, and for our loved ones x
bless you mate. Keep dancing for her.
This is legendary. Come on BBC Proms and Radio 1, we need another one already, it's been long due.
Search for Ibiza classics. You might need to add orchestra or o2. There are a couple of concerts on youtube.
@@chrisbaker8014 Thanks for the tip!
Mate, you've missed on Pete Tong & The Heritage Orchestra - Ibiza Classics. Literally this, and they change the setlist every year or so.

The most sophisticated rave ever. What a spectacle. Epic.
It's not rave.
@@linuxgaming69 *Pats the young one* Everything that involves these classics calls for your ass to get on the floor and FUCKING DANCE. So yes... Sophisticated rave.
@@linuxgaming69 I've hit this gig up every year since this became a thing. Late Nov/ Early Dec, 02, London. EVERY time it happens i regress 20 years, bounce like a nutter, consume things one shouldn't nowadays and remember REAL raves when they began. it's fucking epic and im old enough to remember when 1 pill cost a tenner and was worth every fucking penny of it!
Indeed. I remember those days. And this definitely is NOT rave. Rave music is very, very different. If anybody claims to "remember" this music then claims it's rave clearly does not remember this music.
This type of music died long ago, sadly. We're occasionally lucky enough to get a comeback. Rave music is still shit and still with us. Sadly.
@@Vrapt0r. Young one eh? I remember rave, you clearly don't.
I’ve been battling cancer the last year and have desperately wanted to go out and enjoy music and dance! Since I can’t do that right now, I’ll sit here bobbing my head and live vicariously through others! What a welcome find this eve!! Great job!! 👏🏻
Hopefully the cancer catches up with you.
🙏🏻
My best wishes to you on a full recovery
May god help you fight your illness
Best wishes to u ❤

Great!
Thanks for that. Ideally Radio 1 should pin your comment so it stays at the top.
Who said House isn't Classic? This proves it all! Thank's Pete Tong and the Heritage Orchestra for this amazing performance!!
This is just the Happiest thing.
When I'm feeling down, I watch this.
All those wonderfully talented musicians smiling faces. Loving what they're doing.
Never fails to lift my spirits. Thank you.
And you singing with them too, right? (mee tooooo!) 😁
Get a life you loser!
Amen ❤
The two guys playing keys/synth at the front and the percussion section deserve medals for that performance.
This is a perfect example of what music exactly is. Don't talk about genre, whether it is progressive/electro/hard/vocal/doom/house/trance/rock/classical...just listen to it as it is - an art. An art which rises emotions. An art which could be played and interpreted in a dozens of ways.
well said! you seem to appreciate music alot .Try LSD on your best music !

Back when House music was a movement and a way of life. Youngsters today will never have what we had.
Yep your right. Trance back then was something else.
It will be better than this once humans are free from the corruption
I'm 46 and that was OUR time. Joy and fun, dancing all night long! Superb concert!
I miss the 90's so much :( Im 42 today.
Truth Spoken for real!! I'm so happy I got to live that experience ❤❤❤
Shockingly good. When the BBC does a concert, it DOES a concert........ AMAZING.
The bbc gets it tight nowadays, but i agree they know how to put on a show!! 🎉😂
I miss London and it's music so much. Look at all those happy faces. The smiles of the musicians. Wonderful, absolutely marvellous. Thank you all.
at the final of one more time....i love !!!
OMFG, I'm no longer 40, I'm back in my 20s!!! BRILLIANT ^_^
This was basically one of the greatest things I've seen on the BBC in all my 40 years! Simply wonderful and thrilling! THANK YOU
how quickly people forget the Dirty Den returns to Albert Square episode of Eastenders
Brilliant!
Basically the best thing I've ever seen.
I can not to explain all the feelings I felt while i was earing the songs, many of them are a part of my life, moments, places, etc...
Ella Eyre and John Newman are amazing, I was in Alexandra Palace in a Rudimental's concert and was AMAZING.
No words with this selection, BRUTAL!!
Goosebumps - I’m nearly 41 going on 19. I’m transported back to Ibiza in 99. No care in the world, loving life and not a care in the world.
After that time, addiction took hold, should be not here anymore..... but I fought back. I’m still adoring life, my family, the music and most importantly of all.... me
Get a life you old sad man!
I'm proud of you man !! You are an inspiration to others !!!😊
Love it when the orchestra are smiling. It's like they know that what they are doing is awesome!
absolutely, 99.9% of the time in an pre-eminent orchestra you spend time playing the same old classical stuff, i think playing something like this for them was so different that they simply loved the change... oh and they were damn good at it too
you saw that as well...wow just wow
That violinist was just remembering how she used to "Reach for the lasers. Safe as f***" :-)
I hope they all realised how amazing they were when they walked off stage. I wish I’d seen this when it was in Belfast. Just gonna hope lush! Classical is a close 2nd
because it was the easiest gig.
BBC, you have to do this again maybe to celebrate 25 years of Ibiza!!this was the best concert ever!!!!
Cafe Del Mar is absolutely sensational, highlight of the entire set by a country mile.
Best Prom Concert Ever!! Should be a classic every year!! I am 72 and just love this music!!
Wow man you're 10 years up on me It's great to know tho that us oldies, the originators of the club dance & rave scene audience are still out there listening & appreciating the sounds. I'm 62 in May 2020 in 3 more years I'll be going to Ibiza to go clubbing & celebrate my 65th birthday in style. Please by the heavens above my arthritis doesn't get too bad but even if I'm not walking I'll go in a wheelchair for sure. Keep on listening Cheers CliveakaSpyda Sherwood Forest UK
Well - you two are heroes. Respect!
@@clive6456 omg that's so cool! i wish you the best for when that birthday comes around. haha you sound awesome
i'm 22 in may and i've been a fan of this music ever since i was a kid. first watched this video back in 2015 when i was 17.
nothing can beat this music!
@@ShonziTho Hugs for you Stay safe at this troubling time & maybe I'll see you in Ibiza in 3 years eh ? lol Clive

I was actually in the audience back in 2015 and the concert felt like I was back clubbing. The concert was mind blowing and never realised how iconic this concert would become.
I envy you!!!!!!
Yep, I was there too. First moment I heard that this was going to happen I knew I had to be there. Wonderful experience. Remember feeling like we we'd all come together for a brief, sweet spiritual reunion.
I don’t think anyone did…especially seeing Pete Tong so nervous at the beginning. It was unique-I’ve never heard of a Prom broadcast so widely across the BBC live before. I’ve been to the O2 gigs without fail every year since 2018 & just love the magic Pete, Jules & HerO add to some banging tunes! I can’t get enough of it!!
Get a life you loser
Sure you were!! Bobby the bullshitter here.
I'm living for the backing singers who are just vibing the whole way through the gig
Love them, and their talent & energy too. 😁
Same here x absolutely stunning voices x the lady in the purple top reminds me of the comedian, Judi Love x
I,m 63 and this is the best promenade concert I have seen and heard, brilliantly performed, classic Ibiza tunes, this should be sold as an album in my view. caught it on I player first time. superb !!!
+Desdermoaner Well I am 73 - This is all that is best in music which should be live and alive.
+Geoff Jackson great stuff Geoff true words all the best
You old school?
Pete Tong put this out as an album.
This is quite simply one of the best Proms ever, no argument. It also shows that no one does it better than the BBC. And finally it proves why Britain is so great. One of the best two or three nights of my life. I am so, so lucky.
Imagine being born in the 70's and growing up through the 80's and the 90's listening to these all time classics?..my best years all cemented in one YT vid.....Gen X rocks...always..
No imagination required. Been there done that. Good times we didn't really know how good we had it.
This show should be touring thru out the whole world,
in every country where house music has known for its hype,
in the last 30 years. What a energetic euphoric madness, unbelievable, so good.
Mark, the Heritage Orchestra do your this show on a regular basis. I know it was in Manchester a couple of years ago. You just have to keep Searching for Your Dates unfortunately.
It tours the UK every year, ending at the O2 in London. Have been for the last 2 years & will go again. Playlist is always changing and Jules is always adding new arrangements. Normally, they also do a summer outdoor mini tour to racecourses around the UK though this is woven around Pete Tong's commitments on Ibiza. (last year it was at Blue Marlin...)
Need to come visit Alicante, Spain please!!!
They played in Ireland at electric picnic festival
Absolutely! In every essence I agree! Music and art like this is life changing. It stays and shapes us for ever.
We need this!! Please make it happen!!
This shared Joy:
1. Joy of listeners from the brilliant work of the orchestra
2. Joy of the orchestra with good fun that they give to listeners
3. Joy of UA-cam viewers from the satisfaction of the orchestra, the audience and the opportunity to listen to brilliant songs
Omg!! This is definitely "wish I was there" moment!! Want a night out with the 3 singers!! They look like it would be a good night with this music and dancing.
Some of the musicians look overwhelmed by the effect their music has on the crowd. Absolutely superb!
This classic Ibiza dance music BBC prom should be televised every year - the Heritage Orchestra are just brilliant.
2023 and still effen amazing. this is THE best Proms of all of them. my heart and nostalgia melts with these glorious sounds. i'm alone here in this now i bet, but don't care as this will be a rest-of-the-lifetime soundtrack.
Feels!! Wow, my body and brain are fighting. My body wants to dance and my brain wants to just sit back, listen, admire and cry. So freaking good.
Cafe Del Mar is the pinnacle of this amazing show.
This Took me back through the last 20 years of my life the music I cherish as a soundtrack to emotional roller coaster of memories some good some bad but if I could do it all again I wouldn't change a thing
Coady Purchase I thought exactly the same thing mate. Been there through the ups and downs.
There but for the grace of god go I...........
Who is here in 2020 with this awesomeness.
YEAH
Yes lad!!!!
Yep
Hell yeah!
🙋♂️
The greatest tribute to dance music that I know of, hands down! Thank you Pete Tong, Heritage orchestra, the singers and the crowd. The emotional energy you all generated that night, must have been of impressive magnitude. I saw a genuine expression of the human experience, a celebration, and it brought me tears of joy. Well done
I'm in the the US. In Florida and let's be clear. The UK License fee would be worth every penny just for this marvel. I hope BBC proms do another one of these this year. Best live tracks ever. Well done!
M The BBC Proms are one of only a dozen things the BBC Licence Fee is worth it for
What an event - feel so very proud to be part of this community - favourites are Smoke Belch II, Insomnia, Strings of life and Cafe del Mar - lets dance forever!!!
I can watch this over and over again. Simply brilliant.
Snap x I re watch all the time x the best music to clean and tidy up too x then celebratory dance x
This is sooo awesome. If there's ever a club like this, I'll probably never see the daylight again..
+JESSMO You're right: I would go to such a place every damn time it's open!
😂
There used to be a club, Trade, the best party ever unfortunately no longer around
The tickets for 2019 gig in O2 Arena in London are on sale if not sold out already... Just saying.
After 1000 of years of music, that's the result!! that's the peak of it all!!! thank you...
Huge Respect for Pete Tong and Heritage Orchestra. AWESOOOOME.
I'm a 45 year old guy and remember every song and the emotion generated by mixing classic original dance records with classical music is unbelievable. It brings tears....Hope Radio 1 do it again in 2020!!
I have never seen anything else this beautiful, glorious and powerful ❤️ i feel this at the bottom of my heart ❤️🌹 i can feel it i can feel it oooohhhhh 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵

Cheers for this :)
I can scarcely imagine the rush that must be going through the orchestra when playing this. I imagine as a classical musician, you don't really anticipate crowds going wild during one of your performances; and seeing such a positive energetic crowd having a wonderful time to music hard to find anywhere else in the world; must be a rush like no other. You can see the orchestra and the crowd having a great time. 😁
I am 44 and almost crying. I heard Energy52 while gazing at the setting sun @cafe del mar in Ibiza the summer year 2000. My God, those who haven't heard or understood the beauty of this track haven't lived.
Also one of my favourites ..Brings me right back , amazing song..

I wonder if each and every one of those musicians understand and appreciate that every single day there is someone such as me that is absolutely astounded and taken back a couple of decades just by watching a video on UA-cam. It is mind blowing. Thankyou very much.
Absolutely amazing! Eat that BT and your laptop symphony! Pete Tong is a King of Dance!
An incredible mixture of disco music and classical orchestra! Pete and Jules are just magicians, they turned out to be an awesome show!!!

Isabelle Brant. My favourite UA-cam vid it’s superb
the blend of old and newer in such a classic setting is bliss. I couldn't of imagined something like this happening 20 years ago. Headphones on full rattling what's left of my brain.
❤️BBCProms....God is not a DJ, God is a musician in this orchestra 🙏🌈❤️ this concert has got me through the lockdowns 1 and 2😬
Might pay my TV licence after watching this. Worth the whole years payment...
There is something so magical about orchestral music 🙌 Faithless - Insomnia is once of the greatest tracks of all time.....to hear it orchestrally is just on another level 🎵
46:10 Porcelain was absolutely perfect! Gave me goosebumps from the beginning!
+Robbie Cargill that soul singer got it spot on!
Congratulations to everyone who made this amazing concert , is one the best ideas I've seen in a while , every song played by the full orchestra and sung by vocalist along with Pete Tong is my hair stands on end , and hopefully it the beginning of many more concerts with bands playing electronic music , love music , live music :)
total agreement my friend, evolution is what the BBC need not axing
I've had this Pete Tong Classic House CD for years and is a great driving record. Only found this video a couple of days' ago though, and seeing the utter joy from the audience and the orchestra is just fabulous.
Wow, nice surprise to find this here, little did I suspect, how emotional I'd become hearing the music - Radio 1 you've hit a cord within me, which I must say back to you, thank you.
Andrew Coulson I couldn't agree more and sentiment sincerely shared!
Oddly enough, my favourite bit having watched this about 10 times is,,,at 1 hour 11 mins 25 seconds when that opera singer finally lets her hair down and gets involved dancing with the other pop singers. Great show, i'd buy this on dvd
Never get tired of listening to this . Energy 52 is just brilliant
Neither do I!
totally sublime, amazing musicianship and the backing singers are wonderful, what a fun night that must have been, well done all
Very rarely does a whole set of music send shivers down your spine, but this is incredible! Props to Radio 1 for this, cannot wait for the one in December!
Cafe Del Mar still has me picturing Ibiza late 90's early 00's everytime I hear it.
radio 1 give yourself full marks 100% brill
i want to buy this
How can anyone dislike this?? I got goosebumps when the crowd cheered upon recognition of each tune coming in.
So amazing, just by the first few chords, the beats x I just love it x
The woman with blonde hair playing the violin at 56:30mins is absolutely loving life!! It must have been amazing to be there when this was performed but to actually be talented enough to take part in it must be something else....I swear if I win the lotto I’ll pay these guys whatever to re-create this concert again,it brings a massive smile to the face to just be able watch this here on UA-cam!! Thank you 😀😀😀👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
win the lotto . dont even play it , prob get wiped out if a human wins it
How can you tell when all you can see is the back of her head you loser!
There have not been many days when I have not viewed this brilliant concert. Never get bored of it and it sounds fresh every time. Can't wait till Nov30 at the NEC
Sensational the back up singers are incredible xx
Even a few years later, this is just as special as the first time I heard it. Truly sensational, would love to see something similar live.
Now this is what you call REAL music... Thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish... Great instrumentals and vocals - Thanks BBC!
The BBC is a big plus on my pro/con-list on whether to move to England or not.
+MrRonVibbentrop for the music, go for it ;D
I'm glad you think that way +MrRonVibbentrop - so many ungratefull folk in the UK are against the BBC for reasons i don't quite get - they arn't perfect - but you get a lot for the lisence fee in my opinion.
Jonathan Cook we are forced to pay for it £150.50 which is $213.78
You don’t have to fucking pay for it anyone comes round just politely tell them to piss off. You got to be really dumb to get caught not paying licence fee
Stuart Dawson Considering you can even spell "pedophiles", I don't think we should be taking advice from you, ya moron.
cafe del mar is incredible!!! pete tong is in his element, he dropped all of these tracks over the years!!!
The lady on violin, with a blonde crop, rocks my world. She is so into playing... I love it!
☮️💚🏡🎶
Totally agree she's fully emersed in the experience
Pervert.
Cafe del Mar for me is The iconic and classic Ibiza tune and the performance of that here is magical, the rousing of the crowd as the music is building and building makes it feel so magical
You got it spot on !
Yesssss !
Yup. Best track of the era - and best track of the concert
Pete’ smile @01:12:14 says it all 👍🏼
Just look at the orchestra musicians, they are soo happy!

This is just the finest performance and I watch it whenever I need to feel lifted and energised. Such a talented bunch. I loved hearing this live when Pete Tong and Jules Buckley went on tour! Such a fantastic night
On the short list of priceless concerts....it must have been an unforgettable experience for anyone close to those sounds...wow!
Oh wow, how have I only just found this? This just fired up my Friday afternoon like I was in my 20's again. Love it, do it again.
This one time, at band camp, I played banging tunes with Pete Tong!
This is my favourite UA-cam video.... by far.

Outstanding.
Me too and its November now.
Amazing. I had tears in my eyes :) Greetings from Poland.

I am born 1977 and this is the best concert in mu life.Make my ❤ dance!I love Pete Tong, you are strong man!
This is one of the best musical performances of any type that I have ever seen.
scuderia2000 the above and beyond acoustic acoustic concert is pretty fantastic too :3 - also you might wanna try Ludovico Einaudi at the iTunes festival as another amazing live classical performance (not as hyped but definitely worth a watch if you like his music)
I absolutely love this love the way the orchestra sound exactly like the real tunes
I love how it doesn't sound exactly like the record. The synths have been accurately reproduced but the brass and percussion especially really stand out more human than the originals
one of the best performances of "Good Life" with flawless beauty Ella Eyre . I go back here almost every day.
Its all fantastic, but I love It when that lovely blond lady with the short Hair playing the violin smiles when the crowd cheers she look like's she really appreciates the crowd. :)
Micheal Jones
Yup, I clocked that. It'll have been the biggest cheer she'll have ever got playing, I bet!
I bet she had goosebumps.
Micheal Jones I know, I’m utterly in love 😍 with her
