This brew looks fun and very approachable. Something to think about brewing soon!! Thanks for talking to the audience in a "teaching" tone, like describing the bottling wand in appropriate terms versus, saying something goofy about the "springy thing". Also, reinforcing the use of nutrients to get a GOOD brew in shorter amount of time. I always look forward to your videos!
After making these a few months back and trying it with some friends a couple days ago I just bought the ingredients for a 5 gallon batch, this was a great mead.
I think since you like the balance of astringency and sweetness you should look into making an aronia mix berry. I just bottled one where I fermented aronia berry in primary using 3lbs of Christmas berry honey and cooked down raspberries and sweet dark cherries in secondary. It sat in secondary for about 2 months. Was ready to drink after bottling. You can create your own recipe if you'd like but I used a half gallon of aronia berry juice 3.5 lbs of Christmas berry honey and qa-23 yeast and topped it off with spring water. In secondary I cooked down 2 lbs of raspberries to 1 pound of sweet dark cherries.
For a long time I was drinking dark roast dandelion root for a coffee replacement. And, with my current caffeine intake, I should probably get back on that! I think it is a lovely tannin source. Very into it.
If I hadn’t had to already split half my hives, I’d have enough honey from apple and OSR and I would definitely be making this! Will have to wait until July sadly :(
Saying no body likes bottle bombs is correct but I had one with beer the other day, im not sure if it was an actual bottle bomb or if the bottom just came out from overuse and over cleaning, I went into my shed and found the table my last batches were sat in before I labelled them and put them in my cabinet, was totally saturated and found a bottle empty with no bottom lol. But if it was a bottle bomb it didn't break other bottles around it and none of the others from that batch exploded
Bottled my Tasty Mead variants last weekend. Really hard waiting for the one-month bottle conditioning to be over. Also my first time using dextrose to prime as I was unhappy with the low amount of carbonation from priming drops for my first cider and skeeter pee. A lot of test variables to look forward to results!
Carb drops definitely don't provide as much control over carbonation levels, that's for sure. I prefer the rate of control using dextrose, but the extra work gets me, hah.
I really love the dandelion root for the tannin; it's super smart. The Hornindal shirt is good stuff too!
I’ve really been enjoying experimenting with dandelion root lately! Thanks for watching :)
Super happy you put in how to do the dandelion root. Forgot what you told me on discord so I now have a reference
Awesome! I'm about to harvest and dry out a whole bunch more. Yard's full of it.
Have the 'tasty mead' in secondary right now. Thanks for the new recipe!
When I saw the apple raspberry juice at the store, I knew it had to be done!

Thank you Paula! 💛

I just finished the tasty mead recipe and it is fantastic!
So good! Surprising too, given the simplicity of it. Definitely one I'm adding to the rotation.
Thanks for another awesome mead video. Dandelion will need to be of my next meads.
Thanks for watching - happy brewing!
Great production, storytelling and content! I am inspired to make this one for my next batch.
Thank you! I’m not normally a fan of sweet meads but the jamminess in this one is super nice.

Another fabulous project. 🤘
Thanks! Happy brewing!
Bruh... Let's talk about this dirty dehydrator haha.. Kidding man great content!
Bloodbag? I work at a hospital laboratory and sometimes we have to discard one or two of those. 0,5-1 liters at a time. Hmmm... 😁
I stir stir instead of STIR STIR STIR. Is that going to be a problem?
I’ll have to try this one! Blueberry & raspberry are excellent for meads & wines.
The Tasty Mead we did with blueberries and raspberries was super good too! :)
Thanks for the inspiration on this one!
Glad you liked it!
It's nice to see the different takes on these culturally relevant meads!
Dandelion root! Awesome, I was just wondering the other day if that could be used in a brew 😂

Great video, if you want to keep the videogame theme going there is a skyrim cookbook that has a few mead recipes as well
I keep hearing about that one, but I need to buy myself a copy!
@@DointheMost I have one ;)
They are all quick meads, nothing fancy. "Elder Scrolls Cookbook"
This one bubbles like crazy. I had to use cran-rasperry... No juicy juice at my store. Smells amazing.
I bet cran-raspberry would be good. Punchy and tart!

Just wondering if you experience issues from headspace, seems like your secondary has a large amount of headspace.
Where did you get the flexible measure boats?
Use the RW Knudson for a blueberry wine. It's amazing!
Their blueberry juice is really top notch. I’ve been pleased with everything I’ve used it in!
is it also possible use lactose to general backsweet a mead?(without pastorize)?...thanks for your interesting videos!!
Yes, yeast dont eat lactose, lactose is very smooth as well
2:19 i don't see that link ?
"Brewdio" is not at all lame.
Informative content, as always.
Needs workshopping!
What glass are you using at 14:05? Can we get a link?
That came from a thrift shop - most of my glassware did. :)
How do you think a couple grams of red wine tannin would do as a replacement for the roots?
I think that would work just fine. That roasty/toasty note in there is pretty subtle.
I’m new to making mead’s so I’ve been watching a lot of your videos!
I’m not a big fan of squirrels, fuzzy tree rats 🙃
Lmao I love your ADHD squirrel moment 😂
Ah! The "other" Valhiem mead from Instagram I was wondering about.
It’s finally here!

Hornindal rocks. I use it for neipas. Fermaid O smells like cheese. It makes me hungry
I agree with both your opinions. And now I want gouda.
I feel like for an April fools joke you should start off a video like normal for a recipe for another Valheim mead but it's just a game tutorial.
lol something is definitely wrong when it comes out good the first time.
