One of my favorite songs done so well by Russell Watson & Jonathan Antoine! Two very awesome Tenor voices! They also have such fun singing & acting out the lyrics too! A joy to hear & watch! Love you both! Congrats on your very successful concert tour! So proud!
I am old enough (67) to remember Sir Rudolf Bing, the tough, brilliant autocrat who ran the old Metropolitan Opera with an iron hand. My former boyfriend worked in the scenic shop, creating props and scenery for all the Met's productions. Some of them still in use today. We often discussed 'new audiences for opera'..where will they come from, and how, once the great stars were gone, would the tradition continue? Or, Heaven forbid...would it be lost forever? That said - New Yorkers who love opera are thrilled to see up and coming talents like remarkable Jonathan Antoine, who has the gift of a magnificent voice. He's a torchbearer, in a way and, adds his own unique touches, as his career continues to unfold in the future. Something tells me opera, in the years ahead.. is in VERY good hands!
Totally agree with you but I'm not entirely convinced Jonathan has the patience, perseverance or passionate interest to get involved with the cutthroat opera industry, I think he is better off sticking to being a Classical Crossover artist.
You're probably spot on. Of course, since the days of autocratic directors like Sir Rudolf, things have changed so dramatically The 'music business' as such is not what I remember form the 1950's when Dad sailed as part of the orchestra on the American Export Lines cruise ships. It is nowadays more business, than music, I fear. A quality that indeed, may rankle and impede 'JonToine'.
+Cynthia Hawkins ;Bocelli, Russel Watson, Alfie Boe, Katherine Jenkins etc etc...have all had hugely successful careers being recording artists and not performing in opera's, some of them I think because they know their voices where never strong enough whereas in Jonathan's case I think his voice could be with more mentoring to develop more technical discipline but the Popularisation of classical / opera vocals comes from the Classical Crossover genre this is something that Bocelli has mastered and as a result is the biggest selling classical recording artist of all time. With time I think Jonathan could have a similar amount of success relatively speaking although I don't think he'll ever actually have the same amount of album sales to his name because of the way the industry is nowadays with downloads and free streaming etc...
When does he attempt an opera?
That's hardly my business to say..that's for HIM and his managers to decide. One day however... this young marvel will be ready. Moreover, given that most tenor roles are written for singers who presumably have age and experience on their side (and, in their developing 'instrument'?)..we shall have to bide our time. I'll be delighted..whenever that day comes! Meantime, I am content to watch JonToine unfold, mature and grow as an artist. Such a joy!
Yep. The Big Apple loves THE BIG TENOR..GO JON TOINE!
Just love these two together. So beautiful, and the camaraderie! They are just so much fun. Just wonderful! Thank you so much Russellers for posting these videos! :)
+Heidi Embrey :
Yes, they're great together and you're welcome to the post.
They initially got together at Preston Guildhall, as you probably know, in Russell's special concert in aid of the Katy Holmes Trust, and Jonathan has gone on to become a patron of that charity himself, good man that he is.
;-)
Another thing I love about Jon Toine: he takes time to goof on himself. And as stunning as his voice is..he's not without a sense of humor!!
+Cynthia Hawkins :
Glad you like Mr Antoine. Presumably you're from the United States? Good to see Jonathan continuing to make an impression over there, too.
Jonathan 😘😘😘
They say he sounds like Pavarotti and to me he sounds more like Placido Domingo such an amazing voice that kid has,
I agree with you his voice has changed they are taking it a bit back in the throat instead of pushing to the front, a bit disappointing, but he is all music this boy, my word what a future he has ahead of him.
However, if you look at videos of the Great Pavarotti when he was the age of Jonathan Antoine is here you will find that, at that same age, their voices were quite the same perhaps with Jonathan being a bit stronger even.
I do think that Jonathan Antoine will be just as well loved and respected as Luciano Pavarotti was.
I just wish and hope that he tries for a true opera performance in character.
Their voices blend perfectly, just add one more great great tenor ..........

Их Аве Мария просто шокирует!!! Потрясающе!!! Еще!!!!
я как за дозой сюда захожу))..
It's okay to joke, with music and also with interpretive interpretations, especially if they are good enough to do it
некоторые его песни феноменальны!!!
Wonderful blend of operatic voices.
Hi, Russellers
My comment was ironic, but thank you for Plus.
:-)
Он вроде похудел и возмужал..И перешел на классический теноровый репертуар.. С Шарлоттой был узкий круг произведений, но звучали они потрясающе красиво...
