Shubh was born in 1987 in a musical family of tabla. His grandfather is the legend and maestro Pt. Kishan Maharaj, while his father Pt. Vijay Shankar is a renowned Kathak dancer. As the heritage passes on, Shubh formally became his grandfathers 'gandabandh shaagirda' in 1993 and joined the traditional family chain of Pt. Kanthe Maharaj. In 2000, at the tender age of 12, Shubh gave his first tabla solo performance as a child, up-coming tabla player and later on he toured across India for performances. He has had the privilege of performing in front of maestros such as Pt. Ravi Shankar, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pt. Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and receive their blessings. He is also appreciated and blessed by senior tabla players like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pt. Kumar Bose and Pt. Anindo Chatterjee. He also got the opportunity to accompany Padma Vibhushan Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. He has performed at many prestigious stages such as Saptak (Ahmadabad), Sankat Mochan Festival (Varanasi), Ganga Mahotsav (Varanasi), Baba Hariballabh Sangeet Mahasabha (Jalandhar), Spic Macay (Kolkata), and Bhatkhande Sangeet Mahavidyalay (Lucknow).

मैं जब 10 वर्ष की थी तब महराज जी का आर्शीवाद मिला गणेश हॉल में मेरा कथक नृत्य था आपकी मम्मी भी मुझे बहुत प्यार करती थीं । मैं नृत्य करते समय बहुत डर रही थी मेरे गुरुजी पंडित चंद्रशेखर मिश्रा जी मेरे साथ तबला वादन कर रहे थे अचानक महराज जी उनको बोले तुम हटो मैं बजाऊंगा और मैं धन्य हो गई बारंबार प्रणाम करती हूं तबला सम्राट महराज जी के चरणों में 🙏🙏
