you should start an fpv repair group. we could all share idea. would be a great idea for common repairs !
Yeah I have several stuff i would like to repair but have no clue how to diagnose
Count me in if anyone want to start.
lets do please
I've gone through lots of these boards, please do more TinyHawk 2 repairs!!
I love this content man, I wish more people were into the electronics repair. Everyone thinks it's super difficult but, it's actually pretty easy with just a little bit of knowledge and a hot air gun. 9 times out of 10 the problem is an ldo that costs a few cents to repair I hate thinking how many boards get thrown away that could have been fixed.
You can't imagine the time i spent serching where was the issue... You're right, the blue led is the Frsky D8 receiver and i think it burnt when the transistor did... And i think it burned because i shorted the 3 sbus pin. Great work!
thanks for making this video , this is great , id like to see how to repair mosfets on aio boards also
Excellent! this is along something I have done many times with my own stuff. People need to learn things that are useful! Electronics is one of those things, as pretty much everything around us is of an electronic nature. We have to learn how things work, so we can fix things ourselves and save $ in the process, knowing how to repair thing is very powerful. While this is aimed at an item that we use for our hobby, the approach and technique applies to any type of electronic board repair. Thumbs UP!
Wow this is really impressive. I have a strange issue on an almost new TinyHawk III right now. When plugging in the battery, there is no beep, and the AIO board's red LED flashes a few times fast - then nothing works (the separate VTX board works, but not the FC/ESC AIO). No arming, no motors spinning, no usual betaflight welcome beeping - just silence from the board. The red and blue LED should blink, but the blue led stays dark and the red LED, as said above, only flashes around 4 times, then remains dark. Instead, however, the motors are ticking around 2x/second, which I have never heard before.
Now I tried plugging out the motors, and I found out that when no motor is plugged into the front right motor plug, then I get the right beep, the right blue and red LED blinking and I get USB and I can spin the remaining 3 motors in betaflight. I also switched motors to check them, and all 4 motors appear to be okay. However it does not matter which motor I plug in to the front right motor plug - always when the front right motor plug has a motor plugged in, the symptoms (no usb, no beep, only red led flashing, motors ticking) appear again.
I checked the top and bottom sides of the AIO board and I cannot visually identify any discolored electronic components. The motor plug socket appears to be normal and undamaged. (The symptoms did not occur after a crash, but started between two flight sessions. The last good flight session was without any signs of something being wrong. I did pick some hair and dust out of the motors after flying, but everything seemed okay. The motors are definitely clean and running - only the top right motor socket creates a problem for the entire board.)
Any clue what I can do to figure this out? I'd love to be able to repair this board. I have some basic knowledge of electronic components, I can do some soldering (however, the parts on the board are so tiny, I doubt I could safely solder resistors on there), I am willing to learn. I just see no trace of heat damage or other fishy symptoms except for the described faulty behavior.
The level of skill and knowledge showed in this video is just amazing. Thank you very much for share it.
So satisfying to see the board get cleaned lol
This is pretty cool, my Gyro seemed to fail and I only had to reflow the solder joints lol.
@@johnybell My tinyhawk would calibrate via Betaflight, but slowly drift out of alignment no matter what I did in the settings. My sub trims would never stick, if it wasnt this, the drone would dive forward in atti mode randomly and only a Th hold would stop it.
Upon visual inspection of the board with a mag lens, i noticed some faint corrosion around the IMU chip pins.
So I purchased a hot air soldering station from Amazon, and some no clean solder.
I warmed up the chip until it just barely moved on the board and immediately stopped.
Once it cooled off the drift was gone completely and now I use it as a beginner drone for friends.
I have three of those boards that need to be repaired this is a start thank you
how do they break?
@@evanlebaron9465 ESC burnout easy
how do you fix somthing like that? I've actually been pretty worried about all the reviews I've been reading, pretty much say this drone breaks really easy
Best repair videos! Keep the good work Livyu!
Really looking forward to your DJIFPV Air unit teardown. 👍
Well... I am waiting for it :) Thanks !
@@LivyuFPV 😄👍
You have a great skill~!👍👍👍 Awesome~👍
Can u do more videos on fixing micro whoop boards like the most common issues ur a genius thank you for your time and hard work
very nice video man! how do you know what component to use when you find the broken one? for example how do you know it taht was a double diode or a transistor, and in case which transistor to use? keep it up mate!
I just fried this AiO yesterday. I needed to replace the power wire, because my XT30 connector broke (soldering on the Plug came off on one cable) and I failed to resolder it to the small XT30 and it melted lol.
I ordered some pre-soldered XT30 cables, but didn't realise I ordered 16AWG wire sizes and I still tried to solder that onto the tiiiiiny pads on the AiO. I failed. Hard.
Didn't dissasamble everything fully, just enough to get to the pads underneath on the side. Bad decision. I became frustrated and careless. I didn't care about annything anymore and overheated everything waaaaay to much and to long. Cooked out Flux sooo much, had to add so much with my Pen lol. Couldn't get solder onto the pads, then it 'spilled' over the pad onto everything arounnd it and I had to clean it up. I seriously fucked it up majorly. After 1 Hour of getting mad I had both wires soldered with the worst jointns possible and tried plugging in a 2S LiPo without a smokestop. Some LEDs flashed up shortly, but not for long. Wiggling it a bit at one point it stayed on for long enough to almost boot up once before flickering again and then nothing, quickly unplugging again. Simply pulling the Battery out of the XT30 I pulled of one wire from the solder pad as well lol.
I don"t know if it is fixable or what to do about it. Plugging in via USB it still connects to BetaFlight so I guess just the Power Distribution is fucked up royally and I neither have the tools nor the skill to fix it. Don't want to buy yet another AiO for 90 bucks. This was my second board since I crashed in a Puddle once and some Chips on the ESC area burned up and I replaced it.
Thinking of getting a custom Frame from Microheli that fits the TH1103 Motors with the awkward mounting patterns and rebuilding it with another AiO completly or even small stack with seperate F4/F7 FC + ESC because why not and because I already have so many spare Parts and replacement TH1103 Motors.
Always love to see the repairs
Thanks for the video
When I have such a hole in the element, I am looking for a tile on google in the photos. easier and faster than finding the paths where it goes. I recommend checking this way.
Video begins
Livyu : hi, I am leave you.
Bruh, the video just began.
Jk mate, thanks for all the wonderful videos.
Hahaha :) Funny thing my name is spelled like that :) It is actually written Liviu but it is even harder to spell in English so I wrote it Livyu ;) Thanks!
Bravo !!!!!
I wish I had your skills I really like fixing electronics only if I knew where to start.
I'm in the same boat my friend
Good skill on repair !
Thank for this
Great video as usual!
thx for sharing. aways nice to watch
Very well, you are a genius to me.
I have followed all your videos, in order to repair a Tinyhawk, but have not yet succeeded.
I would like you to tell me which component is the one I marked in red in the photo attached to the email I sent you. It's a kind of reel, with an underlined K on it. There is also another one under the small PCB of the video transmitter.
Thanks for your help.
Bruno.
Super content! Thank you! But how do you know the part was a transistor and not a voltage regulator or diode ??
follow the trace to the 1st thing that is identifiable then look up the board diagram on line under image thats it don't give up you will get it sounds very simple good luck
Excellent job... and the alcohol trick was new to me, but i guess you wouldn't do this on higher voltage boards ?
It is not conducting if you were thinking about that.
Great Skill 👍
Nice! Love things like this. What kind of hot air device is it you use for these repairs? Or something similar to it.👍
All the gear info is in the description. Thanks!
good job
Love it dude
what is the transistor you use'd?
Hi, had a bad day with my Tinyhawk 2 Freestyle, tried to upgrade the VTX an it shorted out the FC with a little smoke an then stoped working! Can you tell me where on that FC board would be the problem that shorted Out an what is probably burned out from the VTX shorting out the FC? thank you!
Excellent video, congratulations, I have the same FC but damage in 2 mofset to ESC, as I find them on the web, what reference are they? thank you very much for your help
When I plug in a battery. The lights come on but the motors don’t beep or anything . Dosnt output video to the goggles either . Could that be the cause ??
I solders a new pigtail on mine and now it doesn't work. Done it before several times with success. Any idea
Thanks bro, I got a Jhemcu that is screwed up somehow, and maybe some more stuff. Where do I send it?
Hi Livyu, forgive my english with google translate! I ask you for a lot of help, after weeks of research I cannot find a solution to my problem: at minute 0:26 the inductor that you have replaced is framed in the lower right corner and which is indicated by the factory with a K underlined. Could you tell me where I can buy it? I can't find his values anywhere on the net and my thinyhawk is without video signal for that reason. I sincerely hope you can help me! Thank you!
I would like to make a upgrade with eachine tx805 and GPS beitian nn 220 t . With 2 s batteries schould do his work!
i would join that repair group also just fixed almost same friends issue..he bridged sbus pads plugged in & that smoked he wanted to trashcan it ..me new board for me quick fix keep it up I'm in??
I got one where the 3th and 4th esc don’t work…where to I check and how? 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😃😃😃
Hello there! Thank you very much for the repair videos. I have an Aikon ak32 35A 4in1 esc that doesn't ppwer up. I was trying to spot the issue and i think it the the voltage regulator that is right after the power lead. I found a picture that says E39 on it but i cant find any info about it. I would appreciate any help!!! ❤️
3:00 i use an old toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol to clean glue or residue. It's safer and faster imo.
USB is not recognized, is there a way to connect?
How much temperature you apply by heat gun?
thank you! the inductor looks bit banged, too. i have two boards which are failing due to similar damage. one gets "rxloss" plenty and the other has the jitters in flight. can you probably show how to replace these tiny inductors? they seem to be hard to get off the pcb.
Nah... the inductor is fine, Not ideal but it will work fine. That inductor is for the Switching Power supply. You can take it out if you want but you have to know the value to replace it
@@LivyuFPV emax support told me and i got the right replacements :)
@@TouYubeTom hi jitter, i read that you asked emax for information and they gave it to you. I tried to do it by opening a ticket but it seems that they keep that information all to themselves. do you remember the procedure you did to get info? Thank you!
Same here, they don't tell anything, just a reply what they send a new f4 controller , but if it happen for to high v so just get one with 40 . On eBay 6 dollar for 50 of them. Still waiting for my replacement.
Anyone got a source for the FETs (SM2221CSQG)that are used on these emax aio boards? The FC costs nowadays more than I paid for my tinyhawk back then 0o
Nice !! I like repairs vidéos :)
A question: all those TH2 boards, including the one in your video have an inductor with a chipped off corner. Do you know what it is and how came that every board has a broken (?) inductor case? Is it on purpose for some technical reason?
no, just a weird coincidence :)
No it can’t be
@@LivyuFPV I don't think it is a coincidence. I have 3 or 4 of those boards at home and all of them have this component with a corner missing. Also asked in a group and bunch of other people said they have it too.
One theory that I have is that emax bought or shipment of those inductors with a defect cheap and use them because it doesn't affect performance in this application.
Hey can you please do a video on diagnosing and repairing the tinyhawk freestyle 2 AIO board? I just got one that lights up with battery power but nothing when usb is connected and can’t connect to the computer.
Did you figure it out? I have the same issue.
2nd that I too have same issue
🔥👍
NIce video! do you recommend any flux from aliexpress or similar? regards
check my description I have the flux in it.
hi, how can i solder the cam on the FC? the pin is broken
did you figure it out?
damn! i wish i could do this!
youre real man
I have some broken stuff where do I donate it to? I have a lot of these tiny hawk boards
please write to me on FB.
@@LivyuFPV same name?
@@TheBlaznbowls yes :)
I am facing a weird problem. One of my motors stopped spinning today. First my quad was wobbling, but after 5 mins of flught my motor 1 stopped spinning completely. How do I diagnose it and how to repair it. Can I simply replace one motor connectiin with a 6A esc. Please help.
Forgot to add, I have tinyhawk 2 freestyle board.
do you see those 6 squares on each side of the bord, replace the bottom 3 of the motor thats not working
@@evanlebaron9465 you are talking about the mosfets? I do understand replacing them will solve this issue. Any idea what are the specifications of these mosfets or any link for the same. This may save this board from an expebsive replacement considering replacements are not available here in India in the first place. I can get this ordered from banggood or aliexpress. Just need parts number and specs.
@@rcarindom I actually have no idea, sorry
Great repair, i got the same board and it is not connecting to the PC anymore. LEDs are lighting up and i have 5V from ESC is in place. Would could the issue be when there is no connection to the PC via USB?
pcb connector itself, driver, etc.. does it enter DFU mode ? the MCU ?
.
@@LivyuFPV Looks like the board is going into DFU because the LEDs stay off. In very few cases something is detected when plugging in the cable.
@@jeb3145 then maybe the connector itself the cable has issues. Micro USB suck big time :)
@@LivyuFPV Okay, will try to connect FTDI adapter tomorrow to see if the connection is stable with it.
Livyu FPV hi I soldered wires directly to usb port same problem. Connection is very unstable. When I push and flex the board the connection sometimes work. Where should I look next ?
Mine caught fire and burnt my house down .I'm looking for the neighbors house now
got exact video.. thanks man
now I need to find correct transister ,
.. other side of board has 1 more transilter at 30 sec (labelled with 662L), that is broken for me.
how to identify this transister is NPN or PNP
