Don't get me wrong the March Madness tournament will always be exciting but it lost a little something when Gus Johnson left CBS almost a decade ago now
@@222333aaaaaa that has been mentioned but also Xavier had a 9 to 10 point lead most of the 2nd half to just under 3 minutes fo play ...Lewis and Conley made some big shots and steals in that small window of time was moreso the main reason...just like some fans wanted to blame some bad refs calls in the playoffs against Clemson 2 years ago when in reality Ohio State should've scored more points in the red zone...bad or missed calls happen and not calling flagrant foul on Oden had a small effect on the outcome ...but I just don't think you can blame losing a 9 to 10 point lead late in the game on that
I remember watching this that Ohio State team and what they did with those freshman in Conley, Oden, and Cook was incredible. Xavier, they were always, and still are, a dangerous NCAA tournament team.
This was a game of all games. Cant really say Cage choked that second foul shot just missed. 8/8 with 25 points. There’s a big difference between barely drawing iron way short, and the way his foul shot missed. It was in and out, it happens. Xavier did have opportunities to put the game away, and didn’t but I can’t say they choked. A classic game. Thad matta recruited many of those Xavier players. That could not have been fun for him. The next one against Tennessee was equally as amazing.
I was 15, almost 16. I've grown up a Wright State and OSU fan with CBB. But this team was special, and not just nostalgically. They were the most talented team in the country that year. Except Florida had the best team. The last CBB dynasty. That great team and Donovan were the only reason this great team aren't national champions. Also...Gus Johnson was brilliant all day on this call, much like he is on Fox CFB every Saturday 🤘
Doesn't surprise me on draft draft I was baffled that people were saying drafting Oden over Durant was a slam dunk.... Durant the better college player and now a Hall of Famer

This was my introduction to Gus, and I will never forget it.
Even though this loss hurt, it took Ohio State's best effort to beat my Musketeers. I can't be too disappointed in that.
I’m from Cincinnati and to me Cincinnati and Xavier is something special when it comes to rivalry
Great game bro...To this day I still don't know how my Buckeyes pulled this out...They were dead in the water ..props to both teams
@@rshelley7496 i do. They didnt call a flagrant on Oden at 1:11:40.

Shout out my family Daquan Cook #31 Ohio State & fellow Indiana residents Greg Oden & Mike Conley this game & the game vs Tennessee were classics💪💯
Don’t forget the legend Mark Titus
Most definitely Oden's iconic block will definitely be 1 of the best blocks in NCCA TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Thanks for the post been looking for this game for a while
Gus Johnson is Ohio State's good luck charm
COLLEGE BASKETBALL… CBS SPORTS… THIS IS MARCH MADNESS
1:13:47 - 1:14:16 one of Gus Johnson's best calls
HAHA

Here because of an article by Eleven Warriors. Such a great game! The rivalry was intense back then. Is that Gus Johnson?!
That it is! Forever one of the best commentators in sports
No its Joe Buck
*RON LEWIS* transfer from BOWLING GREEN, grew up in Columbus,Oh...!!! What a dream this must have been for him...
Xavier finally got their revenge on one of the worst calls in NCAA….
Shitcinnati
Columbus and Cincinnati never overlap in sports and it was just an interesting dynamic to this game on many levels
Sean Miller's teams always blew leads. Worst coaching decision ever not to foul before Ohio State's 3 point shot with a few seconds left.
This game broke my heart as a kid
Xavier just chocked at the end but Lewis hit a big shot gotta give him credit
Yep. X was one free throw away from a Sweet 16.

The emergence of Sean Miller his team's at Arizona were loaded but always blew it

The tables have turned this year…
Who knew Mike Conley would be the better pro
*raises hand*

Shout out to J.Cage Naptown Representative Much Love M.Conley and Big Oden. From Zionsville Rd to Hague Rd. List goes on Indiana got hoop in da water.
beg for 2006 Washington vs Illinois
Great game.
Gus Johnson on the call
It’s weird that it’s Kentucky’s court and not NCAA logos now

I really don’t see why portland picked greg over kd.
ODEN SHOULD HAVE BEEN KICKED OUT FOR THAT DIRTY FOUL AND A TECHNICAL SHOULD BEEN CALLED !!! the game was fixed !!!!
He barely touched him, the guy he fouled was just weak and that's why he fell down. Xavier is Choke U
@@TheDondajonhon46 Cage is not a weak player! Oden threw cage to the floor and Xavier should have been awarded 2 FTs and the ball. Game over!
Naw, run his back ground .
Xavier is so bad
Rigged
Flagrant, clear as day
