I have 5 EVH guitars and it's extremely rare that I play anything Van Halen on them. Edward Van Halen once said in an interview that he doesn't want to hear his music on them, he wants to hear ours.
I play his music on everything. His music was my inspiration to learn guitar in the first place. I play pretty much anything on the wolf. It's comfortable to play.
Thank you for making this. It's seriously annoying if you're in the market for one of these guitars that you can hardly ever find a video where somebody is playing something other than Eruption.
Tasty playing man!! Wolfgang has been one of my main guitars for worship, several years. It is versatile, and that neck is very comfortable, easy to play.
Right on, Perfecto… I recently got a Wolfgang Standard and can’t believe how great it plays and sounds.. My Gibsons & Fenders haven’t been touched since i got my EVH. Play anything/everything on it.. Thanks for great video.
Other than an Ibanez Destroyer, my 3 other guitars are EVH Wolfgangs - a '98 US Peavey, a 2010 EVH Fender Special from Japan, and an EVH Fender Standard from Indonesia. I'm waiting for notifications from Guitar Pusher for a Black Stealth Wolfgang Special or a 5150 Stealth with Killswitch. You can't go wrong with a Wolfgang. Supremely playable, durable, versatile, and affordable!
Out of those 3 Wolfs which do you prefer? Curious because i used to own a Peavey 01'...I sold it because i was young and stupid and i regret it to this day...I am thinking about getting a Special maybe but idk..Those Peaveys were awesome imo So easy to play! I can't even find an Original Made in USA fender one anywhere! Hard to find a MIJ one even..😬
@@MisterBlue80 I've had the Peavey EVH Wolfgang since 1998 - 25 years - and other than changing the strings and the switch tip, the guitar is virtually indestructible and sounds better than brand new. Compared to the Special and the Standard EVH Wolfgangs from Fender, the Peavey has a brighter sound and feels heavier. The neck feels used but smooth and fast. The EVH Wolfgangs from Fender are great value for money. I have a MIJ Special and an MII Standard and they both rock. The MII standard is priced much lower but same hardware. Very playable and durable. But my go-to guitar now is the EVH 5150 Stealth which arrived just 2 days after I made this post. Man, that bad boy is fast!!! And so easy to play. The neck feels smaller making it easier to play the "Impossible Lick" of "Ice Cream Man"! It's MIM and everything was set up perfectly - the knobs, switches, the Kill Switch, and the D-Tuna. Test drive a 5150 if you see one. And it has a friendly price point.
I’ve done a Jazz degree, played years of country, blues, rock, Italian polkas and all….with a Peavey Wolfgang Special! Best guitar I’ve owned period! I’ve tried the others, and the Frankie is amazing to feel….but I can’t get into the other WG’s. I need more time which is weird, as I knew as soon as I played the Peavey WG special it was meant to be. It felt like it had always been in my hands, and I still feel that way, as now it practically has! I think the difference is more the no compound radius neck? Maybe? Loved the EBMM version too…so…I gotta figure this out.
Brilliant review! You were reading a lot of minds about the coil split option to tame the warmth/output of the pick ups. It doesn't need to sound like a strat but that did sound nice.
Thank you for this great review, it's really helpful to hear someone play something different from Van Halen's music on this guitar. I was hesitant on buying one but you helped me make up my mind!
I've been playing an older Peavey EXP for the past 20 years in all different kinds of bands from folk rock to Grunge to '80s/'90s alt rock. It covers them all.
it's a nice guitar, nice wood combination, I wish it had a built in split control so we can get some single coil sounds too, and no mod needed. It would be more versatile in my humble opinion.
I got one and it's Lush. The only thing I would say is the action is just a touch higher than I'd like after setup. Any lower and you get choke on some bends up high on the 1st and 2nd string. This might not be true for all Wolfgang standards though. Also could probably solve it with a thin saddle shim which I will try at some point to get a low action 6th string without choking the 1st string.
Oh man, I remember drooling over a cream color Wolfgang when I just started out playing guitar! As always, amazing playing and presentation, my friend!
Great playing neck and body fits nice. Sounds great out of the box. Took mine to jam with some people, plugged into an old Crate someone asked if it had active pickups
@@daa5249 The Wolfgang bridge is set further back towards the rear of the body. This makes the entire guitar more compact and shifts the neck slightly to the right. The compactness makes it more comfortable to play. EVH knew what he was doing.
Need some educated advice im from backwoods SC and i dont have the luxury of playing the MIJ EVH and im trying to decide between a PRS DW CE 24 and a MIJ EVH WG they run about the same price just wondering what you think about how these 2 compare , i know its alot of personal preference and all but justnwondering on value and feel and so on thanks
Very nice! First time catching you, and nice chops brother!..and you got me off the fence on the standard Wolfgang…just ordered a couple of push, push split pots from tone shapers, so there going in as soon as I get it!! I’ll be looking for more from you, thanks so much.
I’ve been wanting to put a coil split in my Wolfgang standard but so far I can’t find anyone who explain to me what I’d have to do to wire it with how the EVHs are wired
My peavey Wolfgang is not very versatile. It does bright scooped well but PAF type midrange bluesy stuff not so much. Don't plug it into a tweed and try doing Peter green or bluesbreakers
It's got a Floyd and the pickups are dull and too hot. Its not going to do a convincing jazz tone. And if you think it does you have absolutely no idea what youre talking about.

play what you want
Exactly, I tell my friends the same thing. Jack white used a EVH on SNL, and played his stuff
Absolutely agree, i have a JS2450 and rarely i play Satch tunes on It. These are versatile guitars
I play his music on everything. His music was my inspiration to learn guitar in the first place. I play pretty much anything on the wolf. It's comfortable to play.
Really versatile. You can use the headstock as bottle opener

It's my pleasure!
I play through Helix Native and have many a country patch my Wolf. Lots of ambient too.
It’s great at a lot of stuff.

(And I’m a SYNTH GUY….. I just MAKE NOISE with mine!!!😉💜)
ALL MY ‘AMPS’ are plug-ins 😉👍

Brilliant video. The Wolfgang is amazing once you get used to the compact footprint. It’s a great example of minimalist design.

Thanks, brother!

Talking about versatility, I really liked those clean tones. 🎸🎸
The guitar feels great and comfortable and yes you can play anything on it.
Picked up an EVH Special last month! Sick sick guitar! Lupet ng pickups nya, and D Tuna is so convenient!!!
Awesome demo love mine inspiring to practice harder
quite literally the question that I had, such a helpful video!
Bellissima prova! Molto interessante! 👏👏👏
I love mine
Thanks for showing they can actual music besides eddies tunes
Thanks for sharing
Loved everything about it but the small headstock
@6:13 You teased us with the intro of "Humans Being" right there
Sir Perf what is the update on the SG Restoration?

Nice guitar and clear sounds
ang great play guitar sir perf🤘
Thanks for watching 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I can't believe you need to make a video stating that , you can do the same with all EVH gear .
It's all very versatile .
Great guitar and playing as well

Thanks. I get so sick of seeing people play an artists guitar and only playing their tunes. Sell the guitar not the person it is made after.
It's not "made after Eddie" it was completely designed by Eddie.

You can play anything on these! Hard Rock.. Classic Had Rock.. Modern Hard Rock..

The 4 conductors are at the toggle switch side, not the potentiometer side
My evh wolfgang seems to be more twangy sounding rather than that electronic noise
