So how is radiation from a plant four miles away getting into the school, and not contaminating the entire area?
This is how you get your business a cheap building. Make the town panic over a fake radiation issu
There are a handful of heavily contaminated areas in STL. Cold Water Creek, Latty Ave site, West Lake landfill, and Weldon Spring to name a few.
Trucks hauled materials, dust dispersed the contaminants, as did flooding.
It’s a lot more than just the school here
Bet if they measure houses near by they will all have “alarming” numbers/readings. Someone is playing the “fear” game to get a cheap cheap price on a building.
simple answer-it isn't. there is a 4 mi (at least) contamination zone. the government just decided those people and their children are expendable.
Did the same cleaning crew work at the plant and school?
If it is safe, then the DOE needs to buy the building and move their operations there.
You honestly think it’s going to be just the school that’s contaminated from that factory? All of the surrounding land of that town is more or less polluted not just the school it’s your houses & every other business locally, hell probably even ground water to local small rivers.
Is there a class action lawsuit against the uranium enrichment contractor and U.S government for endangering the lives of these families and children that attended this school?
Yeah why does the US need nuclear arms, just let russia take over they're much smarter men than you
Just like Pfizer with Covid vaccine that plant probably has immunity as well
After 10-20 years of legal BS nobody gets any answers and the government will say it's a okay. There's no fighting them in court. They are the court. They are the judge. They are the contracted. They are the funders. They run it all.
Local news channels need to display the state
You should be able to look at #Cincinnati and figure it out 😂
It always comes down to money. They’re willing to put people in danger for coin. They know it’s dangerous and he said it right out loud. We have a lot of money invested in that school. Always about the bottom line.
If they do sell it, the buyer also takes on full financial responsibility for any required cleanup.
They will auction that place off for a $1, if they must, just to get rid of it.
investment sometimes don't pay off in the free market. we actually don't have one though...
Well one thing is for certain. The tax payers will be picking up the tab once again due to corporate/government greed.
They spent $50,000 a YEAR to "maintain" it?!?
Who's brother in law won THAT contract?!
The news needs to look into THAT.
Heating, ventilation and security.
Wage of 1-2 caretakers would be?
Janitor's need money too. $50,000 doesn't seem much to me.
If the members of this community do not seek legal action then the government and the corporations that work for them will NEVER learn their lesson. We shouldn't have to live in fear for our lives just for the sake of our government's desire for total global dominance and control.
Good luck suing the government especially with this flimsy nonsense
@@tvviewer4500 Gulf War Syndrome (1990s-2000s): Veterans of the Gulf War claimed to suffer from a range of health problems due to exposure to chemical agents and pollutants during the conflict. Many lawsuits were filed against the federal government seeking compensation for these health issues. The government has faced numerous lawsuits from veterans alleging that exposure to toxic substances such as depleted uranium, burn pits, and other contaminants contributed to their health problems.
@@tvviewer4500 Hanford Nuclear Reservation (1980s-present): The Hanford site in Washington state was used for nuclear weapons production during World War II and the Cold War. The site became notorious for its environmental contamination, including radioactive waste and chemical pollutants. Lawsuits have been filed against the federal government, specifically the Department of Energy (DOE), for failing to properly manage and clean up the site. The government has been involved in ongoing legal and financial settlements to address cleanup and compensation issues.
@@tvviewer4500 Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Coal Ash Spill (2008): In December 2008, a massive coal ash spill occurred at a TVA power plant in Kingston, Tennessee, releasing tons of toxic ash into the environment. There were lawsuits against the TVA, a federal corporation, for failing to prevent the spill and properly manage the cleanup. Settlements and remediation efforts followed, and there were significant legal and financial repercussions for the TVA.
@@tvviewer4500 Love Canal (Lois Marie Gibbs, 1970s-1980s): Love Canal is one of the most famous cases of environmental contamination in the U.S. The community of Love Canal in Niagara Falls, New York, was built on top of a former industrial dump site. Residents began experiencing serious health issues, and it was discovered that toxic waste buried at the site was contaminating the groundwater. Lois Marie Gibbs, a local activist, played a crucial role in raising awareness about the issue. The federal government eventually provided compensation and funding for cleanup through the Superfund program, but there were also numerous lawsuits, including against federal agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
I doubt if tearing down the school will solve the issue. It is more than likely the ground, around, under, and the school structure building is contaminated. I recall "Love Canal" decades ago had a similar situation. The government ended up purchasing all the homes in the area due to contamination and sealing the area with tons of concrete to mitigate and reduce the in-air contamination. Not sure what the groundwater registers. I'd hire a private tester to perform more tests.
This! Absolutely this
and a private security team to protect them. yes, we are that corrupt.
The "Plainly Difficult" YT Channel has several videos on nuclear radiation. You can click on my arrow, click again and look for the "Too Cheap to Meter" and "so safe" folder.
How is the school the only building with radiation in the area? Lol. It just picked this on building? Lmao.
If you would carefully read the entire article it said the school was the only building tested and it was tested by an independent, local source. No one tested every building, house, dwelling in this area. For God's sake read and comprehend the entire article before going off half informed and looking like a Fool..
We all should be concerned that Neptunian (sp) and enriched uranium are considered "Normal" background radiation.
Neptunium
neptunium is naturally occurring from the radioactive decay of uranium. Being able to tell the small amounts of natural elements apart is exactly whats needed to prove contamination
Corporations should be required to clean and dispose of hazard waste properly. Reliability falls on the corporations and government neglect to follow safe standards.
The fact that it just sat there and never got cleaned up shows you that they just planned on making money on it in the future.
Fun fact: David Banner and Peter Parker both went to this school.
😎
Well what did the townspeople suggest? The school district cannot afford to keep it up indefinitely. They are not hiding anything and if someone is willing to invest in the property and clean it up and take it off of the school district's hands why is everyone so upset?
He said it in his first comment, “Well we put a lot of money into the school…..”
That’s all they care about-MONEY. They didn’t lose a loved one to a rare cancer, so it’s not their problem 😠😠😠 disgusting.
I'd be worried about the entire community. It's not as if radioactivity stops at the property line. The enrichment plant has operated for decades so you have to assume a wider contamination.
PS - in SoCal the Excide battery recycling factory showed how one plant can contaminate a broad area, in this lead.
Radiation doesn't confine itself to district properties and everyone has to drink water.
If there’s a cancer connection to the school building, it doesn’t matter if it measures within acceptable exposure by law. With prolonged exposure, you just don’t know. It needs to be razed and the materials disposed of as radioactive. The land must also be checked. Who wants to risk it? Make sure the land is not used for anything like dwellings, work places, stores, offices, etc. Maybe it should be allowed to return to nature after it’s been decontaminated as much as possible. Then it can become the subject of scientific study by perhaps a university. People visit, take measurements and make observations, but don’t stay there long term.
No cost for energy but your hair falls out ';
Residents think the building will be reused "as is" If it sells, it possible going to be remediated, or demolished & property reused.
I could understand if the town was going to reuse the school for a school, but that's not the case.
2:09
"why are you doing this??"
"money"
guy can't even look us in the eye. shameful and disgusting.
Just checked this place on google maps. The plant is enormous and there are houses literally a stones throw away from it. Also hundreds of houses and businesses are closer to the plant than this school building. The entire area could probably be a superfund site if you ask me.
This is a buyer issue. If those people want the school kept out of others hands they should buy it and level the building
A government air monitor detected 237np, but DOE claims its safe. Who owned the plant? Is there any connections between the owner/owners and DOE inspectors? Im not claimining there is anything now but ut has happened in the past.
Are you sure? I thought 237 was just a room in the movie The Shining.
Peace through Ahev
The protestors must also be in danger, being so close to the building ☹️ government needs to take responsibility for the area and shut it down so people can’t enter/have access to it
Well easy whatever builds there avoid them. Spread the word and see how long it lasts.
ALL of Colorado is radioactive, to a high degree. Realtors don't need to tell you, it is simply "buyer beware". Our water, our soil, and the air is so degraded you can not escape the dangers. Towns or cities won't tell you because we depend on tourism.
What is your source for your statement? Otherwise it is not creditable

@@algernon5776 Links to other sites are removed by youtube. It is something anyone can look into, given we have access to the internet. Fact checking... however, it doesn't mean finding others that say the same thing, but looking into lab test results, medical cases, say, a high concentration of diabetes and rare cancers in a small area. I noted those existed around paper mills and then what the chemical byproduct of the mills are. The US map of mills basically matched the US health maps of the reported diagnoses was my starting point for my questions.
Just remember that the chemist is an environmentalist. Cause and affect are not supported as well. Just because a baseball player gets cancer (even if they are rare) does NOT mean the cancer was automatically from radiation contamination. People breath is contamination all the time, people eat things that are toxic. To just say that radioactive contamination caused these cancers is short sided. As with any parent with a child that has cancer they want someone to blame for it. As a father I can understand this frustration.
Sometime people get rare cancers.
I grew up in New Baltimore Ohio, right next to Fernald. We all got contaminated from the uranium. It’s sad this is still happening. 😢
Missouri schools are having similar issues and nobody is doing a gosh damn thing about it
This is for all the homeowners, landowners and parents to figure out
The Scioto Valley school board should use it as their administrative building but of course have public meeting somewhere else. What became of the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant was it turned into a campus of the State University of Ohio???
Government! Puts your life at risk wasted money. Now lets sell a radioactive building. 🙄.
i'd say it's time to pack up and leave there's no way it's just the school building, it's probably every house for like 5+ miles, probably in the ground water too. you couldn't pay me to live there.
no surprise coming from Piketon, been that way for years.
So sick and disgustingly sad
WTF?! Should the whole town be encased? What about the ground water in the area and greater area?
"Naturally occurring levels" for that area that was once radioactive. Of course its not increasing. 😅 The vague statements they make. No cause for public health concern means your life is not a reasonable cause to raise public concerns 😂😂
You do realize Background radiation is litterally a thing right? Like your dumbass doesn't think that people are just not living in Nagasaki or Hiroshima right??😂😂
'save our kids' kinda late for that isnt it?
Amenities running water, phone. Sewage. Radiation. Mutant cats
So what's the problem... whoever buys it, what are they going to do with it?... who's going to work there? and they won't open a school because no one will go... so why the protest, since their kids aren't going there and they won't go there? If it's not a school anymore, it doesn't effect them...
what is the problem ?
people in the area are scared of the place. it is costing tax moneys ment for schools to just keep the buildings standing.
why fear selling it to anyone who is willing to buy it?
Because it is the wrong thing to do. How the heck are they supposed to clean up the radiation and who is going to make sure they do? What if some manufacturing/shipping company buys it and sends stuff all over the country or world from there, exposing countless people to radiation?
Its a Super Fund Clean Up Zone. Which hasn't been done! The debunked plant owners should have to pay to have the area cleaned or buy it.
What is the LEVEL of contamination?
This Is Like A New Normal With The Environment. This Type Of Stuff Is Proof That Nuclear Is Out Of Control.
How is it that Ohioans are at all surprised? Whilst I agree it's terrible that yet more of Ohio's kids may be poisoned, I'm having a hard time understanding how contamination isn't assumed to be present as a matter of course?
I know it's about the money. That's why proper actions aren't taken. The property values decreasing further would likely make operating the affected municipalities more difficult.
what else contaminated?
so weird.
That federal standards for radiation exposure are vary high and even then they don't have consequences for if those levels are reached
So there allowed to protest infront of the school property with radiation being present? Levels in the area must not be to high then for the whole town ti better there then
Ok. If its contaminated how can any business buy it. Is it not government or city or state owned. Also who tested it. Was it an independant contractor. How could they reopen if contaminated. And if sold who is profiting from the sale. The seller or the buyer. Somethings funny here.
There’s a lot of space between the opinions of the professional environmental scientist and the Department of Energy.
Correct however this also deals with the Department of Ecology and Agriculture which are environmental concerns. All dealing with the health and safety of humans and animals and the environment such as the land, water and air. Considering this also deals with the Department of Defense and Homeland Security. These issues effect and affect all of us. The EPA should be notified of this location.
Simple solution is a 3rd qualified and independent firm comes in and retests.
@@Privat2840 What qualified and independent firm would that be that you would recommend to retest?
Will this third qualified independent firm also check with the coroner and the health department please. Thank you.
I do not recommend anyone associated with Project 2025.
@@Privat2840 Excellent idea. I think the results will match the Arizona professor rather than the DOE.
MAkes me wonder about where else they buried N waste??? near lakes b in drums? they really back then didnt know as mush as we do today about what Radioactive Waste can do,. that poor people of that island where USA did Nuke tests even today are still suffering.
Nope... The real question is why... A nuclear facility is near anything !!!!
Do the people's new before moving inn ??? Are we NOT learning from past recent situation. Nope.
They close the school , what about the nuclear refinery??? No clean up ??? In USA no Chernobyl
It's in a town so the workers have somewhere to live and shop etc. Of course in hindsight they should have made them commute to work a few miles. It was probably built many decades ago and they thought it would be safe.
So what? The bidders now the building's history.
Has anyone contacted The Soccer Mom School of Radiation? They couldn’t be any less informative than this “news” channel. The editor of this story should be ashamed, but he/she’s not - the advertising revenue generated is the purpose behind it, and for that it’s not bad. Could be better of course since, as seen in the comments, only about 7 out of 10 viewers were sucked in by it, but it’s good enough.
Radioactive 😱
Bruh! That's crazy tho!!!
What state is this in?
Kids don’t vote.
The whole town?
Gee is this the karen silkwood nuke area??
Rich people problems
passing the buck, but not holding anyone accountable
Zeolite absorb radiation.
Do not believe the 'experts' on this.
Ahh yes should take your word for it huh, the word of some random ass dude in a youtube comment section lmao😂😂
Are you 12? I'll bet you believe the CDC too. btw - I have a degree in Physics.
Remideation testing site? Y not to show how it should be removed safely
Science is fun kids you have to learn…
😮wow.

Nothing wrong with housing migrants there imho

😂 as is?! 😂 does anyone have a brain?
OHIO.
Imagine the republicans that work at that plant?
Let me guess.. GOP ", led?
I bet you could get a couple pieces of equipment in there on a full moon night start from the back and do enough damage they have to level it go buy a old d6 or above dozer 10,000 dollars and an old 10 ton excavator another 10,000 and you could almost level that building before the sun rises. It's the peoples' building
😢🙏
The homeless would be grateful to live there regardless.
it showed natural levels of radiation because the whole town would be contaminated
Why is this now just reported. We now know there is no journalist in the tristate.that is why i quit the enquire back In 2020 get some great journalist who knows their job. Your networks do not produce breaking news, all clickbait.
