Martinique is a Caribbean island and an insular region of France. Fort-de-France, its capital city, has a urban area of about 160,000 inhabitants (88,000 for the city proper).

Is it safe to walk about at night? Esp if you're alone? What time do businesses close? There's not much people around.
These days we got more violence than usual but you can still go in the touristic areas , this is the safest places … businesses usually close at 6pm in the downtown…
@amaray- There are lil troubles like anywhere else throughout the world but nothing like like Chicago, South London or Jamaica...etc...
You don't have to fear for Martinique is a western civilized European island.

@@NotEnoughSwvy -Martinique is part of the EU, their currency is the Euro...etc...They even vote into the French presidential election...etc...Martinique is to France what Hawaii is to the USA.
It is situated in the Caribbean but it is a "Euro-zone" (Part of the European Union), nothing to do with Jamaica or the Bahamas.
And by the way, my island is St Barth (Another French island in the Caribbean) and the crime rate here is zero!

Yes, you have a school called "France Langue" in the town of Les Trois-Ilets here in Martinique. You should Google it and see if it suits you.
Absolutely there is German with Erasmus they come to learn French

Yes. The overseas departments of Martinique, Guadeloupe, Reunion, French Guiana, and Mayotte are part of the EU. The overseas collectivity of Saint Martin is also part of the EU. The other parts of overseas France are not part of the EU, but the people there are still French citizens and therefore EU citizens

Y el resto está en el banano y el pequeño turismo, por la organización actual de la economía sin el coche no se puede hacer nada.
