‘Hall’s Pictorial Weekly’ visits the Cork town of Buttevant where a horse fair takes place every July attracting traders from far and wide.
This episode of ‘Hall’s Pictorial Weekly’ was broadcast on 26 May 1973.
Frank Hall’s amusing and satirical series began on 29 September 1971 with the full title ‘Hall’s Pictorial Weekly Incorporating the Provincial Vindicator’ which became known as ‘Hall’s Pictorial Weekly’.
The series allowed Frank Hall to follow his own interest in the lives of viewers throughout the country. Regarded as RTE’s flagship comedy show, it featured satirical sketches on current news stories and popular culture, as well as parody songs, comedy sketches, re-edited videos, cartoons and spoof television formats. We had a government-employed doctor in our area. He was half horse and half man. He was from the centaur for disease control. Why did the sick pony see the doctor? He was just a little horse! When the horse with the sore throat came back from the doctor, I asked him what the doctor said. The horse said the doctor gave him some cough stirrup! How did the horse pay for the cough stirrup? With a credit colt!. There’s a horse that runs with a blazing speed. We call him Neigh-palm.. A horse walks up to another horse, and says, “Can I ask you equestrian?”. The other horse looks back and says, “Neigh”.. Did you hear about the horse that won the race despite the odds? He disregarded all of the neigh-sayers! A man name houses, Sea houses, Roman houses. horsemen of the apocalypse., My horse, Horseman,pass by. ‘My kingdom for a horse. The last horse home, The winning horse. I am all horsed out so please you take over from me and continue on telling the world about wonderful horses and their stories.
