the security guard should answer your question. My local Tesco express had to have 2. Kids just walked in, as young as 3 and emptied the magazine and sweet racks. The adults stole all the meat and booze. They are ingrained with their thievin and if you complain, they call you racist.
they are not all like this , no different to everyday folks ,they to do bad things and chuck litter about our towns and countryside and rob innocent people ,dont put all the blame on travelers ,its wrong.
As an Irish "settled" person there are HUGE problems with travelers home and abroad - the socialist left scream "racism" and "discrimination" and will never entertain any notion of personal responsibility and good reputation. Supposedly we settled Irish are also "racist" against the travelers despite the fact that we are the same race. The socialist left start sweating real heavy when genetic studies show they are only 8 generations away from the settled Irish populace - a new race was not born. 70% male incarceration rate, -20 year life expectancy, the tragedy is a young traveler child can essentially never be a scientist, doctor or teacher because of their culture. If you suggest that a change in culture you are guilty of "ethnic cleansing". Respect is earned and not demanded and a mountain of work needs to be done to gain back the respect of contributing law abiding citizens. We need to stop tolerating this destructive behaviour in all parts of our communities - the courts and our public representatives have completely failed to solve this antisocial and criminal activity to date. You wont see any of this behavior in Saudi Arabia.....
Travellers, Gypsies, call them what you like they are still a public nuisance. The same thing happens every year in Appleby in Cumbria for the horse fair. There is, however, legitimacy to this gathering by way of The Royal Charter granted by James II in 1685. The gathering causes similar disruptions that Stow experiences, resulting in the expense of a very large Police presence. I have no objection to anyone having an alternative lifestyle so long as it is led in a lawful and peaceful manner. But that is the rub it very rarely is.
It's not an 'alternative lifestyle' like the so called New Age Travellers. These people have been living on the road for centuries. It's contemporary society and technology that has left them behind. Very little need for tinkers, horse traders, navvies, seasonal farm labourers and other traditional travelling vocations in 21th Century so they are clinging on in the margins of society now.
After the Appleby fair there is an organsied and concentrated clean up by those invovled. Even at this, media takes the opportunity to photograph the aftermath of the fair before the clean up begins, to create a disingenuous public image.
It might just be a coincidence but our allotment sheds only seem to get broken into when the gypsies are staying locally. The area they like to camp on has been fenced off for the last 9 months and our allotment sheds haven't been broken into for 9 months.

There was AWAYS problems caused by the travellers- particularly mindless vandalism and stealing from local farms. Too many other occasions every year to deny it- in the news today- a cricket field in Petersfield!!! Do a video about locals who live near a permanent travellers site- you will soon change your mind!!!
Guy I know had his dog stolen, found out it was on a traveler site. He told the police and they wouldn’t do anything about it. The local councils and police are scared of them
We had travellers in Liverpool years ago now, and I remember going to school and my dog ‘bob ‘ would follow me to the bottom of the estate I lived on and a young boy came up and said ( I’ll never forget it) “ sell ye beagle “ I didn’t understand what he meant. I ignored him I was taken aback because he appeared from nowhere . I sent ‘bob’ back home and never saw him again . I’ve never got over that , the heartbreak as a child stuck with I’m 60 now and still wish Id have understood what that boy was all about. I still miss ‘bob’ all these years and lots of dogs in my life later . 💕

I went there once and i noticed a total disregard for the locals by the majority of the travelers so really they deserve what they got and have spoilt it for themselves

Thanks for trying to show something from all sides. Living in London, I have not had much contact with Travellers but what I have had - two different groups stopped on the local recreation ground a few weeks ago (English-Romany and Irish), and back in 2020 just as the terrible lockdowns were easing off (Irish), I had no problems with. The first group in 2020 were fascinating to me, with tall, super healthy, calm children who could handle dogs and goats from a very young age. I cried for hours when hateful neighbours invited a reaction from a family that I had not warned about the animosity that began to brew from the moment they started to arrive. The main protagonist got her way using devious and inflammatory means, while weak neighbours (many of them born nowhere near the British Isles) either followed her orders or disappeared for the rest of the day, or congratulated her on her success the next day. Not one of them had bothered to have a conversation with any of the people they were so relieved to see the back of. Imagine venting your hatred on people you have had absolutely no contact with, have never seen before, and will probably never see again. I did a quick search that day online. To my horror, I quickly discovered that it is very common for settled people to call up or contact all their friends on social media to encourage them to immediately complain to the council en masse - my vile neighbour did this, as well as setting up a one woman hate campaign watching and staring at them from 1pm until 10pm which inevitably ended in police being called. I can tell you, she began it, stoked it, phoned about 50 people (her gym job gave her a lot of "contacts") and she did her best to get neighbour support. It is also very common for settled people to call up a mob to turn up at a location where Travellers have just arrived. The objective is to make them feel so unwelcome that they decide to leave as quickly as possible. As a result of my hateful neighbour's concentrated efforts, these friendly people, with some amazing children and animals, were forced to move on (less than 24 hours after arriving) for the third time in one week. The more recent group said that, in London, they were moved on three or four times in one day, the last move being ordered after the children had been settled in bed. A few days after the sad day in 2020, I got a return phone call after having left a message with a Travellers' support group. A police office (brought up as a Traveller herself) gave me some of her time. She explained a few things to me, such as how difficult schooling is for kids, when you are often on the move. I told her that I had known nothing about Travellers' prior to that day in August 2020 but what I sensed from most of what I managed to see on Facebook, and anywhere else, that hatred and hostility towards Travellers is not just a sport but a legitimate form of racism in England today. She agreed with that. It's got nothing to do with my acceptance but I am half Irish and I would wish that people would be less hasty to tar a whole people with the same brush. Isn't that the very definition of racism? We are expected to sometimes tolerate the intolerant and the intolerable from people who are demonstrably hostile to us (to Britain and everything that you might consider part of British culture) so why on earth is there such widespread willingness to scapegoat, discriminate and pre-judge any Travellers who might temporarily park nearby? When you force out a people by being consistently hostile to them, they will disappear forever. I say to the s-c-u-m of my area and of my country, England, who think it's good fun to always show Travellers hostility and rejection, good luck to you with the truly hostile people living and increasing among you. You think Travellers are trouble? You haven't seen anything yet. Very soon, we shall all pay dearly for rejecting our own people with whom we share DNA, history, to an extent Christian culture and love of family. Who are you allowing the UN and their related "humanitarian" groups to stuff every available space with? You reap what you sow. The future? Is divided, broken and bleak. Many Brits have already been living with the consequences of this, especially across the Midlands. But the cowards who bully and show open hatred towards Travellers would never dare to stand up to this bigger type of bully. Perhaps we deserve what is coming then.
@@scumdeluxe MY LONG COMMENT WAS REMOVED. It was based on my limited experience with Travellers. I found no problems with them on the two occasions that they parked nearby. My comment included what my hate filled neighbour did to provoke them, in order to get them moved on. This vile behaviour by many people in England (on social media you can see the incitement and fast gathering mobs whose sole aim to to intimidate - or worse - to get the Travellers to leave asap) is, in my opinion, the legitimate form of racism in England today. Cheers Pootoob for removing the longer version of my comment.
Co-Op in Kirby Stephen had to shut last year because they were walking out with full trolleys and not paying. Unfortunately the shop had no security on the doors so they just walked in and out without paying this was adults. Same at the local Chemists kids running in nicking stuff and running out. Can’t blame the people for closing the doors. Look at Appleby, for 38 yrs that I know off there has been trouble every year. Local landlords would lift carpets and take all furniture out because they just smashed it up. Ended up one pub would only serve through the window. Not all the same but a hell of a lot of trouble makers do this every year so why don’t the true Gypsies stop them.
Moreton-in-Marsh this year thefts from Garages and Tesco and Co-op, Not English travellers. Next year they will close Tescos and the garages will only sell through via the window.
We tried, none of them wanted to talk to us. To be fair, I think they use it as an excuse for a holiday twice a year. The travellers go to Moreton and Bourton for a pint over the 3 days and there's never any trouble.
@scumdeluxe until this year in Moreton-in-Marsh Thefts from Tescos and the garage. Next year Tescos closing in the evenings and the garage only serving by the window. These were not English romanies!
It's all well and good covering a fair but you saying there's 2 sides to the story. I live in Birmingham and there's a public park where the gypsies used to pull the steel gates down and camp in this park. After they left it looked like an abandoned and vandalised construction site. I once worked with the gypsy community as a tree surgeon. The guy drove the motorways and dumped the cuttings it into someone's farm. So it's all well and good covering a fair but if you had any sense of journalistic credibility...... you'd cover the other side...... because I can promise you...... you will find the time tested fact that some gypsies will turn a local park into a waste disposal site. I doubt you'd cover it because you don't prioritise honesty!!

In times now when pubs and local businesses are really struggling to make even a small profit, they wouldn't stop trading unless there was a very good reason for it, they can hardly afford to. I use to have a business just a small shop and a huge group 12+ of female travellers walked in the youngest of the group started to play about with the back of the till whilst the other started to change the music over. I come from a very strong London family so I wasn't as phased as I should of been. The youngest girl looked me dead in eye and said what would you do if I pressed this button ( it opened the till) I looked her straight back and said "don't you believe deeply in tradition" she replied yes. I said " I do too, it use to be traditional to chop the hands off of thieves and I'm deeply traditional" I swear the oldest Lady called Mary of course said " I like you, you're a straight shooter, we will be good to you" They became one of my biggest customers spending an absolute fortune for years and invited me to their weddings which I never went to incase of crossing that line. They bought me gifts and will never forget their offer to " help to deal with ex" which I never took them up on 😅 I admired how close the girls were and really looked out for each other. They travelled in huge female packs to protect each other and were so maternal to each others children. I can't speak about the other side only what I witnessed. It might have been a very different story if I reacted differently that day.
We had traveller kids at our school, they were 10, & 11, their auntie who had Married, & settled down with a local farmer, insisted they went to school for the winter while they came off the rd for a few months, I was asked to teach them both to read, they were very embarrassed about there lack of learning & I was constantly defending them against the other kids, proper Romany's with respect, not like the travellers described on here.
@ritajordan6598 read the other comments to the video. How can it be called English heritage when travellers originate from Ireland, it's a different country
I lived in a small town in Sweden and one summer we had about 10 gypsy caravans move in to the local park and the mess they lift behind was disgusting and the behaviour of there kids was so disrespectful to locals, made me feel ashamed and im English not Irish, people hated them when they finally left.
It is norm to put on security for any large gathering, especially a small village that's not used to it, these days shops round estates use security, supermarkets, shopping malls, pubs, clubs, FOOTBALL MATCHES, concerts and even mothercare lol, But was there any evidence that the only open shop here had any problems in crime ? If not the others were fools to close due to bigotry.
Poor man. When I was a kid in the 60's my father took me to visit a friend of his, old Percy. He lived on what had been his farm. Not a massive house but quite isolated. He was burgled and beaten so many times he rigged up a shotgun with a trip wire. The police somehow found out and warned him that if anyone was injured or killed by it firing he would go to prison. He replied that he would still be alive even inside, and might live long enough to come back out. I am too old now for Jury service. However, if I had ever had to and couldn't get out of it, and someone who had defended himself was in the dock then never mind the directions of the judge, I would have voted not guilty (that has been done by some juries).
It's the same in Wickham in Hampshire, they turn up for their annual horse fair, all the locals close their businesses and shops, they cause havoc on many levels.
You'll find similar things happening next month at Appleby. Lots of shops and pubs shut, similar in towns on villages on the fringe. Not everywhere closes though ....
It is because some of them take huge groups to local restaurants and leave without paying. Some of the old Romanys are supposed to be great people but local businesses do not like being ripped off and simply don't open in Appleby
Businesses are there to make money. No business in the world would close without good reason. They've obviously decided that the trouble, theft and intimidation is too big a price to pay for the business in question, and they'll have reached that decision by experience.
I don’t blame them for closing so would I and I’ve got Romany ancestry. But I think it’s the Irish travellers that give the Romanies a bad reputation because most people don’t know the difference and they get lumped together.
Travelers are a total nightmare and I have known loads of them over the years. They live by their own codes and they think their codes are the norm and there is something wrong with anyone that doesn't get it, and that people who don't get it are not worthy of their respect and they deserve to be treated with contempt. That is just the reality of the situation.
Why if the CoOp stays open why can’t everybody else, simples because they don’t want to. I worked at a large 179 bedroom hotel and we had a pre gypsy wedding bash and they trashed the hotel. The police were called, they rang the venue where the wedding was to take place next day informing them of what had happened and the venue cancelled the wedding.
The travelling community take England being a 'Free Country" a bit literally. That is apart from when they demand full-payment for a half finished tarmac drive!
Had them in my small town for six weeks before the law finally moved them on. They left a war zone of filth, old mattresses, dirty nappies, broken furniture raided from a local shop, paper & cardboard of all descriptions, dog excrement, you name it! Nearby village experienced more garden shed & garage break-ins during those 6 weeks than they had in 60 years!!

Stow-on-the-Wold, is such a beautiful, picturesque town..I visited there several years ago and the people were so kind and friendly..The antique shops were lovely and the restaurants were amazing too.! I really can't blame the local community for having reservations about the gypsies though..Trouble always seems to follow them - everywhere they go...☮️🇦🇺
Gypsies were different years ago. I've witnessed the modern 'travellers', who think they can do whatever they want. I've seen traveller families visit restaurants, eat and drink (and waste) practically everything on the menu, before getting up and walking out without paying a penny, knowing no one will stop them. One New Year, all the shops, restaurants, fast food places in my local area were told to close, by the police, due to thieving, leaning over bars to help themselves to alcohol, fighting etc. Even after everything had closed, a group of traveller kids (11-15) broke into a KFC, jumped the counter and looted the place with their parents watching on.
I did a study of travellers while at university. I stayed with one of them for a few days and i asked him why he preferred the caravan to a house. He told me if the police come looking him, he's gone. He then said you take your home as a safe place and i take my caravan as one. I asked him about relationships with settled people, regarding theft. His response was that travellers had been persecuted for a long time so we get even with them by stealing their stuff and we dont respect them. I said then why did you invite me into your home. He said, you are going to write a good account of us now, isnt that right? I laughed...nervously. There are many things about Travellers that i like but they are very prone to violence, theft, and a penchant for disobeying the rules. Im not talking about every traveller but when they are in a large group they will try to dominate and a section of them will be out to cause trouble. If its not with the settled community, it will be with each other.
@Roadrunner_1000 My Traveller contact was considered a representative of the traveller people and was on committees with settled people. He had photographs on his wall with himself and the Pope, President Clinton, Barry McGuigan the boxer and other famous people. I met him at a conference and he invited me to his home (yes, he also had a house in a cul de sac in Navan, Ireland, along with a caravan. He honoured me with a feast and invited his whole family who found great fun in chiding me, not in a malicious way but actually making me feel comfortable, part of things and important. Their hospitality was amazing. I stayed in his mothers house along with his brother for a few nights and no question from me was considered disrespectful. Michael was a realist and he said we can talk about anything. I never felt nervous about asking him any question. He knew that i was writing a dissertation about the traveller lifestyle, culture, seasonal work, family, cleanliness, values and above all about a sysyem of accomodation that would allow Travellers to travel and have areas designated for camping that could be serviced by government bodies. It involved a range of things such as settled housing within or close to a settled area for those who wanted the option of settling, having half homes with a driveway to park the caravans to sleep and live in which was a half way arrangement for those who chose such a lifestyle, having a range of 'parks' along routes which Travellers could use while they follow customs and seasonal work. I got a lot of information from Michael who proofread my dissertation and we both felt is was a good exercise and represented the Traveller culture and accommodation needs. Government bodies didnt take to it very well. I think it was a bit before its time as Travellers were not seen as an ethnic group at that time, in the late 8os, early 90s.
Saying they have a history of being persecuted is just an excuse. EVERYONE has ancestors who have been persecuted at one point. And why would they steal from people they personally had no issues with. Sound like scumbags.
Where in England have these people been made truly welcome? I've seen only intimidation, provocation and hatred. Why should anyone pay taxes to a country where the vast majority of tax paying citizens are teaching your children that they are not welcome or wanted anywhere?
May God forgive us for the way we have treated these people and their children. Hostility breeds hurt and then hostility in return. Don't worry. The time is coming when you won't know what has hit you. You will almost forget about taxes but you will be praying for your own safety and survival, even if you are an atheist right now.
I see 5 non gypsy people walk into Sainsbury's toilets at the same time and when they left little kids wanted to go in there but they couldn't because there was loads of error when needles what they left behind
Bin round travelers most of them are out for themselves & don't give a shit about anyone else who are not them . Saying that they don't give a shit about each other much as well . If they can rip you off they will .
If you have had any dealings with these 'people' chances are it will be a negative experience like myself. Just had them park up not far from where I live, now moved on & the state of the place. They say were racists is a joke.
It's a lot longer than 10 years that the town has shut up shop during the fair, but some places do well from it - the chip shop and Tesco. I'd encourage tourists to visit the fair. It's a great event.
Just.like everyone else then have you seen.london etc lately, the rubbish on the streets there is worse, there's more tents than houses there ,immigrants etc, leave travellers alone ❤
If you have ever had experience with the travelling community it’s overwhelmingly negative. They are purposely antisocial because it works in their favour. They like to be seen as folks you don’t ‘mess with’ so that they’re not questioned or challenged when they illegally pitch up somewhere.
If a whole town shuts down because of them then they must have a good reason. They always give out an untouchable attitude and leave carnage wherever they go.
Not even watch this yet, but near me they go on a car park which has had to take measures to keep them out. We have to pay for that car park, they didn’t, they damaged the cars, neglect their kids, the place stinks of piss and a few of us stepped in it, they’re rude and it’s filthy. Unfortunately way more are bad than good. If I brought my kids up like that or behaved like them, I’d have them taken. I’m not accepting it’s their lifestyles because if anyone else tried it, it’s voluntary homelessness, neglect and thieving.

they are not all like this , no different to everyday folks ,they to do bad things and chuck litter about our towns and countryside and rob innocent people ,dont put all the blame on travelers ,its wrong.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching
Interesting. Thanks for watching!
@Roadrunner_1000
My Traveller contact was considered a representative of the traveller people and was on committees with settled people.
Every time they get moved on they leave a trail of rubbish, dirty nappies, dog faeces etc etc. lovely people.
The field was very clean afterwards
She is proud to be English- does she pay taxes to good old England.
Thanks for watching!
@@eadlondon-nm2uy what is coming?
They turned up in a SAINSBURYS CARPARK. USED THE TOILETS. LEFT A HELL OF A MESS WHEN THEY LEFT. AND DUMPED A PUPPY 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬💩💩💩💩
Sorry to hear that - sounds awful
They “dumped” a puppy? In Sainsbury’s toilet? Bet that made their eyes water!
I see 5 non gypsy people walk into Sainsbury's toilets at the same time and when they left little kids wanted to go in there but they couldn't because there was loads of error when needles what they left behind
Its called free will. No one likes free will when it's someone else's will but love it when it's their will.

"It’s England’s heritage"... so it is to be sure to be sure… 😃
Thanks for watching
It isn't though, their features are like their cousins from occupied P-stine, they pretend to be natives.
Leave it out .
😂😂😂😂🫡
😂
Let’s be honest. If there was no trouble businesses would welcome the extra trade and the locals might enjoy the event as well.
Tesco on the edge stays open
And the Irish are complaining , whinging and crying about immigration in Ireland 😂😂😂. Hypocrites.
These are not Irish travellers.
They pushed their pikeys onto us, now they're getting Romanian ones 😂
What you on about dimwit.
I'm Irish and NOT complaining. Live and let live I say as long as you abide by the law
Bin round travelers most of them are out for themselves & don't give a shit about anyone else who are not them . Saying that they don't give a shit about each other much as well . If they can rip you off they will .
Like the government
@@scumdeluxe yes, the folk are host to a variety of parasites

That's very funny. I checked too, and you're spot on.
probably 200 vehicles there, so 2%.
Good work😂👍
These businesses wouldn't shut down for no reason, would they?
They go to nearby Bourton and Moreton over the 3 days in the evenings for a beer. Trouble free.
If you have had any dealings with these 'people' chances are it will be a negative experience like myself. Just had them park up not far from where I live, now moved on & the state of the place. They say were racists is a joke.
Sorry to hear that
As a doorman with over 30 years experience travelers were always the worst.
No respect for anyone or anything.
That’s just my experience.
Interesting, thanks for watching
Poor villagers what a nightmare

My oldest best friend, back in Sweden was Romani gypsy and her and her mum were really nice
That's lovely to hear 😍
How much vat is paid when those horses are sold ?

It's a lot longer than 10 years that the town has shut up shop during the fair, but some places do well from it - the chip shop and Tesco.
I'd encourage tourists to visit the fair. It's a great event.
Good ol' Greedy's!
I’m a gypsy man thank you really the first time I have seen someone film about us and show us in a fair light
Thanks for watching! 👍🍺
Fair light? Too funny.
No sympathy, their just reward for extreme anti social/criminal behaviour.

Never had a pleasant experience whenever I’ve encountered the travellers .
Thanks for watching
Crime and rubbish follow them everywhere they go 🤬🤬🤬
Thanks for watching
Abit like the rest of you, have you walked the streets lately, most the same ,rubbish and pot holes everywhere
Just.like everyone else then have you seen.london etc lately, the rubbish on the streets there is worse, there's more tents than houses there ,immigrants etc, leave travellers alone ❤
@@juliewoolley8579 Also very like Dublin, and an alarming amount of towns and villages around Ireland 😥
All of the UK is turning into a disgusting craphole in recent years.
If you have ever had experience with the travelling community it’s overwhelmingly negative. They are purposely antisocial because it works in their favour. They like to be seen as folks you don’t ‘mess with’ so that they’re not questioned or challenged when they illegally pitch up somewhere.
Thanks for watching
Just ask them how they get their toilet waste into the sewage system
Doh!
If a whole town shuts down because of them then they must have a good reason. They always give out an untouchable attitude and leave carnage wherever they go.
They go to nearby Bourton and Moreton over the 3 days for a beer in the evenings. Trouble free.
Sorry to hear that
The kid with a catapult 😂! I wonder how many ‘snobs’ windows were put through that week?
Thanks for watching
Just today in Canterbury they left used nappies, tyres and full blown garbage in my local park😢 it’s saddening
Sorry to hear that
The are utter plebs.
They turned up on
My office car park. No staff could get on the car park. Its was a total mess when we evicted them.
Sorry to hear that
