Looking at getting my first machine. I want to do a lot of dirt work as well as brush hogging and I've been looking at the TL140 since a used machine is in my budget. Any suggestions or things I should be looking at?

I had a tl140. Has the isuzu. Hard to go wrong w takeuchi there simple machines and tough. Just run it check for play , leaks, also hours are a toss up, most meters have been replaced on these older machines . What I have learned is raise the machine check the idler wheels if there paper thin metal, its got 3000 plus hours also if the seat is torn thats a sign of high hours . Ive seen most seats start cracking around 2000, So don't be fooled by a low hour meter. U definitely need a cab unit , getting one w working a/c was tough. The older gehls, mustangs , track loaders are same takeuchi painted yellow so keep an eye out there as well. Think the ihi where built by takeuchi also.

@@SadlonCattleCompany The IHI is built by the same company. They just had different motors I think yanmar all japanese quality. Those are all great points. Also I enjoyed learning about the pushing power of wide vs narrow tracks. Any other tips on buying or looking at used equipment would be great. Keep up the good work and I'm excited to follow along

Hey man just got an 05 130. Trying to figure out how to use all the hydraulic functions just bought a grapple for it .previous owner had no clue. Can’t find anything on the internet would appreciate some help. You seem very educated on these machines. Idk what the yellow/ green buttons do or the individual ones on the joysticks. Thanks. If you have some time to spare 👍🏻

Both orange and green off and u can open and close grapple. If yur running a cutter or auger push both the orange and green to lock it on constant mode. When u have both button lit up its called detent mode. From my understanding it bypasses control valve builds less heat cooling it faster. Takeuchi is smart how there set it up. 10w30 diesel engine oil for hydraulics is another great think Takeuchi has thought of. When its cold its equal to aw32 but when it hot its equal to aw68. My hydraulic guy is recommended me running 10w30 diesel engine oil in most my equipments hydraulics even though it calls for aw32 thru aw68 depending on weather.

I run cat now. It out performs tak. If your an owner operator and want comfort all day and best performance cat or bobcat maybe Deere... whoever has best service. If your farm or have scrubs running your stuff Kubota or takeuchi is good.

@@SadlonCattleCompany I bought a TL140 brand new in 2006, and we still use it everyday. It picks up all the pallets I need to move, but it has trouble with some going down hills or any downward grade unloading trailers At 10,000 pound if it has a little trouble at times, how does the TL130 do with picking up 4,000 pound stone pallets or 5,000 pounds on occasion? Does it tip, or can you add counter weights to the back?

Its amazing how some people will record a video on youtube and have absolutly no clue what they are talking about. track width has zero impact on machines ability to push thru a pile of dirt. hydraulic pump, final drive specs and valve relief settings are what determine machine ability to push. track width can cause you to loose traction or flotation but that is not what is happening here!
