Air Berlin will always hold a special place in my heart as in 2010 it was the first time i ever flew on my own Alicante to Dusseldorf on a 737-800, i was really upset in December 2017 when I flew from Dublin to Dusseldorf and when landing saw rows upon rows of Air Berlin 737s, a320s and Dash 8s all motionless on the aprons

Have you reviewed ICE trains yet? When traveling in Germany you have to go by train. I love planes but love train travel round Europe too. Getting a sleeper train in Eastern Europe is next in my list to do this summer

Great video! I can understand why you dont like the dash 400s I've flown them a few times and they're not the most comfortable aircraft. noisy if your by the propeller as well
We use Dash-8s a lot in Australia to regional centres, and the only thing I dont like being 200cm tall and a big guy is the lack of legroom. Thanks to a contact, I usually get the front row with the seat next to me blocked so i'm happy. A good dependable workhorse. Flew Air Berlin from VCE to DUS in a dash 8 because of a change of aircraft and enjoyed my one and only time with that airline. Shame it went out of business. If I had a choice, I would use other aircraft types, but if you dont have a choice, then suck it up princess.
I always see that Hapag-lloyd plane when i'm in Dusseldorf ! So what is it that you don't like about the Q400 then ? I've only flown it a few times, nothing much about it. Are those Pacman sunglasses or did I just make that up ?
+When I Travel The World Yes those are Pacman glasses! I just don't like the Q400, plasticy and horrible, and scary in winds. Much prefer the ATR42/72.
Why do you keep saying you are "really not a fan" of Q400s? I am not a fan of 737 MAX 8 with their midget toilets and packing in 200 passengers these days but you went on one to Poland this week with nery an averse comment about that design relic.

Nice trip report! Shame air berlin went bust. But I think they way they treated their employees was disgraceful. Wasn’t really fair to now hire them at eurowings (an airline that isn’t any better) and give the ex boss a loan of 10 million euros. In the process they decided to get rid of all the elderly flight attendants and not give them a chance to carry on at their old position.
The unknown airfield could be Butzbach. Approx 50km North of Frankfurt?

Awesome glasses then :) I have my first ever ATR72 flight next month, I would prefer an ERJ. But oh well !
